Eleven months ago I recommended Braecen for the Sapphire Blade. In my recommendation I referred to the fact that Braecen operates at an activity level that very few if any will ever reach. Now, many positions later, the same holds true. Braecen is easily one of our most active members and his dedication to leading CSP to a better future is undeniable. He has assembled and trained a staff and works tirelessly to ensure they are working for a better CSP. For his dedication and service above and beyond the standard, I hearby award KE Braecen Kunar the Amethyst Kukri.----Grand Master Sarin

Braecen Kunar has brought a new level of activity and confidence to Clan Scholae Palatinae since taking over as Consul. The clan had been going through hard times in terms of activity and motivation, and upon his appointment, Braecen has worked hard to almost single-handedly turn the tide. Although the first few months have had their
difficulties, Braecen is proving that, as Consul, he can excel.

In working with Braecen as Grand Master, I noted that Braecen is extremely receptive to feedback. He took every word I said and absorbed it into his efforts; Braecen is like a sponge for knowledge
and experience. He understood the criticisms of his work (the few I had) and immediately began to fix the problems. For instance, I am most pleased to see that Braecen has substantially progressed in his
control and direction of subordinate leaders. In my initial evaluation of his work, Braecen lacked the directive authority over his leaders. In the two months or so since then, Braecen has completely turned the tide. He is keeping tabs on his leaders, ensuring they document their work, making sure they are communicating and teaching them to overcome their own flaws. I believe this has created a much better working environment in the clan; the members are excelling.

Braecen has done will in making sure that projects and competitions in his clan run smoothly and are completed. I have been impressed with things like the clan's prospectus on the Wiki and the constant
developments to their website. I was thrilled to see the Arcona-CSP feud run so smoothly. Braecen has had a very big hand in these things, and his efforts are worthy of an award.

By terms of a Consul, Braecen is still very new; however, he has shown great initiative, motivation and ability beyond his years. With time, Braecen will become wise to the art of being an established
Brotherhood leader, learning to make great choices without the direction and advice of others and being a truly complete mentor for his subordinates. By then, I am sure that Braecen will have already
established himself as the finest of Scholae Palatinae Consuls.--- Lord Jac Cotelin

Braecen is an excellent leader. He shows outstanding capabilities as Consul. He always strives the extra mile in bettering the clan. He provides excellent sources of activity including the recently passed Clan feud with Arcona and House Feud, as well as general smaller fun activities. Aside from providing resources for activity, he has worked hard on getting more information developed about the clan, and improving the general workings of the clan. He set up a revised clan powers list, aided with the development of details on the Clan military, and various other fictional needs for the clan. He is very open to suggestions and strives to maintain communication in the clan, including the use of clan meetings, where members can talk and address concerns and ideas with each other. As well he is more then willing to work on a personal basis with people, bettering the clan as a whole. He has helped place structure with the clan as well. Positions have been fortified leading to a much more effective group of leaders. Braecen cares a lot about bettering the clan, and strives diligently to do so.

--
Sith Warrior Xen'Mordin Vismorsus
Ward of the East
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Braecen Kunar has definitely worked hard to improve not only his Clan but also the Brotherhood in general by his efforts. He has served as an Eclectic Pedagogue encouraging members to discover the bounty of knowledge contained in the Shadow Academy. He has earned Dark Maven as well as holding an impressive resume of Shadow Academy courses himself. Braecen has also mentored several members through the ranks, helping them to achieve Dark Jedi Knight. His drive and focus has been vital to his Clan, as Scholae Palatinae steadily grows in strength and becomes a more unified force.

Braecen has been instrumental in aiding Scholae Palatinae in progressing as a Clan, holding workshops to help rising leaders in the Clan improve themselves, helping to develop the Consul's Coven (a group of members to help with clan projects), Dark Paladin and House based Member of the Month programs to award outstanding members, and Noble Merit Awards (Another program to recognize active members within the clan). He wrote the Clan Prospectus and has helped and encouraged members to create their own wiki pages, as well as more Clan and House related pages. He has worked with members to define and build the military structure for the Clan, giving the members even more to build on as they develop fictionally. Braecen organized and wrote the fiction for a house vs. house feud which helped encourage greater activity within the Houses. He's also always made himself available to mentor and guide any member who seems in need of it, even before they ask for help. Braecen has focused his tireless efforts on improving his Clan, and in doing so he has worked to guide and mentor up and coming members into strong and solid leaders, which in turn offers stability and growth within the Clan. He is always searching out ways to inspire and encourage members around him, as well as ways to improve his Clan and help the members grow.

On a more personal basis, Braecen has assisted me in many facets, acting as a friend and mentor. He has been there to help me understand Brotherhood policies and politics, and to give me the direction and encouragement I needed to keep going. He has constantly encouraged me to set goals for my career within the Brotherhood, and then made sure that I had the skills and guidance I needed to achieve them. However he is not the sort of teacher to hold someone's hand all the way, rather he provides the tools needed and sits back to watch. This gives the student a chance to grow in their own pace and to learn from their own mistakes, but whenever I had problems or there was something I didn't understand or know how to do, Braecen has always been there to help out. Firm but gentle nudges in the right direction, offering a challenge for me to strive for improvement, in all that he does, Braecen is the epitome of what a mentor should be. Look 'mentor' up in the DB dictionary and you would find Braecen's picture right there, because he truly is a mentor. Without Braecen's dedicated guidance I would likely not be where I am right now, I am very grateful for his belief in me and his efforts to help me reach the potential and goals I had.
~Rasilvenaira StormRaven,
Aedile, House Caliburnus

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since his ascension to Consul, Braecen Kunar has been a radiant light in the murky mess of Clan Scholae Palatinae. As a leader, Braecen arranged a detailed restructuring of the clan that required as much intelligence as it did time. Displaying his management prowess yielded a distribution of thinly spread resources for the betterment of the entire clan. As Braecen sorted out the mish maw of the clan's leadership, he appointed an entirely new staff of leaders to each of the respective houses. Braecen personally arranged for the creation of the Consul's Coven, the Dark Paladins of CSP, a remake of the website, a dynamic merit system that adds to the fictional depth of the clan, an inter-house feud, and many other projects that are just coming into fruition.

In recent months, Braecen has overseen the Creation of a Clan Feud. Contributing himself to helping the event run, Braecen is included in sorting out the judging and points system. This project was spearheaded by Proconsul Phoenix, but Braecen's extraordinary contribution to the situation is worth lots of merit. With plenty of guiding words, Braecen has settled me into my own position, helping through some of the troubling first time gitters. His outstanding work as Consul has turned CSP into the only routinely reporting clan in the Brotherhood. He has even managed to get me to sit down and write some reports!

Braecen's punctuality and extreme drive to successfully complete the tasks he sets for himself speak wonders for his own leadership, but above that it provides a crystalline model for the rest of the clan to base their own personal drive. Mr. Kunar has been a role-model, mentor, and friend to me for nearly 2 years. In every situation I have ever seen him involved in, he thinks critically about the outcomes and the necessary path to complete these tasks. Outside of House Events and questions about Clan matters, Braecen is concerned with the people behind our characters. He has continually show courtesy and care to my feelings and taken compassion when real-life events take a toll on one's ability to perform. Braecen has also shown faith in me that I find hard to see myself. His positive words and undying encouragement have made me what I am today.

If a simple weapon made of a shiny jewel is reward enough for his feats and the works he has done in this formerly disheveled clan, then I believe that he should be given his award many times over. Though you were never my Master, I always looked at you as so. Thank you for everything you have done, continue to do, and will do in the future. CSP is indebted to you, Master Kunar. A congratulation is not enough thanks. But, I will say it all the same. Congratulations, Brae. I hope we can work side by side for years to come

-Quaestor Thran Occasus

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since my appointment to ProConsul, Brae and I and been in constant contact. There is not a day goes by that ideas are not thrown back and forth. When I first took this position, I was quite unsure that I would be able to be effective, but through Braecen's help, I believe that I am growing to be even more effectual in CSP. Along with helping myself to grow from just a house leader to PCON, he has taken under his wing roughly about 7 apprentices, most of which have progressed past DJK(KAP Scorpius, DJK Korbin, DJK Prajna, OT Xan, SBL Aabsdu and GRD Gavan.) Also, Braecen has mentored such members as Dakari, Brujah, and Thran.

Currently, Braecen has put together several documents and frameworks that will be the future of this clan. From those projects, they have allowed new and old members to branch off on other major projects. Though he gives credit to those who help out, Braecen is the main mastermind behind the current rise in activity of CSP.
He has opened up the Clan so that all members can have a say in what will be the future and has reassembled the clan senate to gets the veterans more involved in clan dealings. His fire, tenacity and zeal to progress this clan, as well as the members that reside within her halls. Once the new programs are completely finish, they will propel CSP back into the greatness she once had.
~Sith BattleLord Phoenix Olkyssagh Palpatine
PCON of CSP

Primary reason

Braecen recently celebrated one year as Quaestor.

That statement on its own may not seem remarkable, but that is only due to the depth it belies. Braecen has done more for this Clan in his time with us this last year than I can rightfully declare of any other member, members I already frequently praise for their own amazing dedication. This man is a star among stars' company. Allow me to explain why.

Brae is a bastion of your typical and multitudinous personal activities, above and beyond any more reasonable level. He's been the driving force for competition development at all levels of his House and assisted in creation of Clan-level content, and has himself, in the last eight months since his last accolade, organized or co-organized 38 competitions, from our Stimulus Comp packages to Open Battleteam Fictions and a civil war parody. Beyond that, he's also participated in 163 competitions, placing in 42 of them and garnering himself four Ruby, eleven Amethyst, fourteen Sapphire, ten Emerald, and three Topaz Crescents. That's eighteen competitions every month with a 25% placement ratio. Add further his plethora of gaming and fiction activities, including 25 PvP matches, 39 PvE matches, 6 completed ACC battles - notably during his Clan's most recent major event, Sins of the Past: Episode II - and 18 unique fiction activities amounting to 20423 words of fiction in total. These feats earned him a sizable pile of 1080 Clusters of Fire, 63 Clusters of Ice, 126 Clusters of Earth, and 2 Pendants of Blood. The bow decorating all this personal activity is Braecen's strongest quality as a teacher and mentor, willing not only to learn but desperate to share that knowledge with as many people as he possibly can. He's recently passed two Shadow Academy courses and gained a Dark Sage in Tactics, along with earning one Scroll of Indoctrination for recruiting and training Shawnathan Do'Urden, now an Acolyte, as well as a Scroll of the Master for mentoring PaRapRappa to Knighthood.

For all his stardom in the numbers game, though, Braecen must be paid most heed for one of his greatest passions: leadership. There is no one on Arcona's summit more dedicated and driven, full stop. Not a single day goes by that he isn't here, checking in, and making sure every gear and clockwork cog is functioning - whether or not he's sick or on vacation. Braecen is a powerhouse of unparalleled management and production in every aspect of what it takes to keep a House going: he consistently submits ideas for new content and new competitions to ensure our members are never without something to do; he encourages and teaches his subordinates and his members to do the same, pushing them to make their own ideas a reality and gain experience in competition organization; he performs biweekly audits of his membership in order to track their progress for participation, awards, and promotions; he acts as a mentor to the leaders serving under him and champions Arcona's Post DJK Mentorship program in incentivising and driving lower level Equites to higher heights; he helps organize monthly email reminders for fiction and gaming competitions; he displays constant chat presence and spurs participation with frequent - rather frequent, heh - reminders of activity and encouragement; and he continuously leads by example with stringent participation himself, whether it be throwing himself into clan events or always getting in a match with someone for that last clan gaming comp. On top of the utter leagues of mentorship and content creation is his work in organizing fictional expansion of his House and Battleteams, revamping wiki pages and rewriting histories after discussions with House and Battleteam members about their future fictional identity. Fiction updates to this end are regularly delegated out and published in his reports, amongst a plethora of other information and evaluations of the state of the House. The list goes on, and it must be acknowledged not only for its depth and breadth, but for its consistency. An Amethyst Kukri is awarded for no less than outstanding, long-term, dedicated service to one's Clan. I can't imagine a leader who better embodies that accolade.

Braecen, you little ask for any thanks, and yet without fail uphold your House, your Clan, your summit, and your fellow members. We are nothing but the better for having you in our family this last year, and if we can offer even this token for the last eight months to let you know of that appreciation, then it's worth it. Congratulations, and thank you.

Additional reasons

It is my honor and privilege to add my voice in recommending Braecen Kaeth for his second Amethyst Kukri. This Sacramental Award is oftentimes given for exceptional leadership in leading a Clan or focusing on furthering an Aspect of the Dark Brotherhood. It is the former category that I believe that Braecen deserves special recognition in.

One leading example of that is the post-DJK Mentorship program that Braecen spearheaded, and of which I was among the first students to enroll in. It was in that program that first revealed to me the sheer depth of Braecen’s passion toward leadership and encouraging others to drive and excel to ever greater heights. When I first enrolled in the program, he sat down with me to have a serious conversation in which we discussed my goals, my strengths, and my weaknesses. We then put together a plan that would improve on every category.

It is at that point that most leaders would let the student fly to do it on their own. Not Braecen. He encouraged me to participate in all kinds of competitions, to create and provide competitions for others to enjoy, and to broaden my horizons, to push out of my comfort zone, if you would. And at every step of the way, he was there to encourage and push me on. The results speak for themselves- in the course of eight months, I picked up a Grand Cross of the Dark Side, a promotion to Equite 3, and a Sapphire Blade. All of this is due to Braecen’s influence and passion for leadership.

But that is not all. Braecen’s skills in leadership extends not just toward driving members to excel, but to lead. It was Braecen that encouraged me to apply for BTS of Tyrant Sword all those months ago, and it was his advice that drove me to improve and lead me to my current position. Braecen keeps his eyes sharp and peeled for the next generation of leaders, and when he spots them, he takes the time to groom and mentor them so that they can be of greater service to the Dark Brotherhood- not for his glory, but for theirs.

Braecen consistently gives of himself without thought of reward, instead focusing on others, striving to get them rewarded and promoted- to give them the recognition that are due them. It is this quality that I most admire about Braecen- and it is that quality that I believe embodies the spirit of why he deserves this Amethyst Kukri.

Braecen, my friend, this award is well earned, and in my opinion, long overdue. Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do.

Larrik Dul’vak Aedile of Galeres

Larrik Dul'vak, 2016-08-29 17:29:39 UTC

Has it only been one year? Braecen has woven himself into the very fabric of Arcona and Galeres. It’s become impossible to imagine it without him. I can’t imagine his replacement. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing all of his projects come to life in the Galeres Summit chat and have been honored to work alongside him on a few of them myself.

Each morning he wakes up like it’s game day. His record doesn’t matter; it’s all about how much he can accomplish today. Once he’s finished for the day he wipes the slate clean for the next day. That type of dedication is unparalleled, whether it’s drawing members into events like Arconan Civil War or Arcona Gaming Dominance or just being there to proof things and advise you on your career. He constantly is leading by example — he participates in everything. In Sins of the Past: Episode II he participated in more ACC matches than most members’ total amount of competition entries.

Braecen has been the pillar I’ve leaned on and the ears I’ve confided in. In a year’s time he’s become one of my most trusted advisors and keeper of secrets. For this and so much more I’m proud to help award you this Amethyst Kukri.

Congratulations and our deepest thanks!

Braecen is the most infuriating fellow Quaestor I could possibly imagine working with. He's just too damned good at his job. It is no exaggeration to say he makes every other member of the Summit look bad.

That's also what makes him so deserving of this award.

There isn't a single day that goes by where he isn't actively working on making Arcona a better place. Be it the new calendar and volunteer training sessions he is organizing to spur gaming; the constant plotting and planning to push forward Galeres' storyline; his Equite development program to ensure our members beyond Journeymen receive the attention, training and encouragement they need; his constant stream of organized competitions; or his methodical review of his members' activity and dogged dedication to ensuring they get the rewards they deserve in a timely manner: no matter how you judge leadership contributions, Braecen excels. He's pretty handy with spreadsheets, too!

His contributions don't stop there. Maybe one of the most important things he does is try to make himself disposable. He signs every email with "I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers…" This is a motto he lives by. He is constantly working with other leaders in Arcona to make them better at their jobs, and on the lookout for unrecognized talent that he can nurture and shape into the type of leaders Arcona will need to succeed in the future. This, more than anything else, may be the most important thing he does, and he does it wholeheartedly.

Braecen, you have my sincerest thanks. Not just for everything listed here, but for genuinely making me a better, more conscientious leader with your example.

Thanks, Starbucks, and congratulations!

 • Terran Koul, Quaestor, House Qel-Droma of Clan Arcona

Terran Koul, 2016-08-29 17:30:20 UTC

Amethyst Kukri; bearers of this award have shown their dedication and focus on furthering an aspect of the Brotherhood far beyond what was expected of them. Just looking at Braecen’s award history shows that he is beyond just being an exemplary member and leader in this club. Back in ‘07 he earned an Amethyst Kukri less than a year after he earned a Sapphire Blade. No shorter than 6 months after that Kukri he was awarded a Ruby Scepter. This was 9 years ago.

Now fast forward 8 years. August 2015, I took the position of Battleteam Leader of Soulfire under our freshly appointed Quaestor. A lot happened after that, fast. Braecen Kaeth is more than a superior or boss. He’s a friend, a motivator and a mentor. I can’t possibly list all the things Braecen has had a hand in creating, improving or maintaining. Instead, let me state a simple fact: Arcona wouldn’t be where and how it is without this guy. He’s returned to leadership with a drive that is unparalleled. Tenacious B has personally affected and improved pretty much every member in Galeres and without a doubt plenty of others on the summit, Qel-Droma and the Brotherhood as a whole. I still don’t know how he does it but he has the ability to make others want to perform to the best of their abilities.

There is without a doubt no person I know who is more deserving of recognition, no person who has affected so many people in such a short time, no less.

Brandon, it is with pride and joy that I partake in this recognition and celebration of who you are and what you mean to your friends in Clan Arcona. My hope is to spend much more with you in our midst and many more of these recognitions to come.

Celahir Erinos Arconae Consul Emeritus

Celahir Erinos Arconae, 2016-08-29 17:30:36 UTC

Braecen is already an Elder. He could sit and idle for the rest of his time in the DB, but instead he chooses to show up for work everyday with a clipboard (I assume in the style of clipart from Microsoft Word) and a checklist of things that need to be done.

Braecen Kaeth, or Lord Business as we like to call him, has been the driving force of the Arcona Summit for the past year straight. Since taking up the position, he has brought a level of efficiency and air of confidence that has transformed not just the House, but the members that make it up. He took what he saw and molded the House to fit the member's needs. In doing so, he’s created a loyalty and following that is hard to match — the members of Gal, even when they disagree with him, are behind him. You can see this if you spend any amount of time in the Galeres House Chat.

The others have talked about the metrics of Arcona and House Galeres, which speak for themselves in terms of his success. The events he’s lead have helped keep Arcona participation and metrics at the top of the Brotherhood for each of the posted quarterly review results from the DGM. Leaders are more than metrics and numbers, of course.

Where Braecen has excelled the most in the past year as a leader in Clan Arcona is the way that he is almost always looking for something that needs to be fixed. There is no hesitation or time for breaks. He sees something that needs to be done, and he prods and prods and follows up until it gets done. This type of execution oriented efficiency is rare in the DB, and while it can sometimes ruffle feathers, it does get the job done. And at the end of the day, that’s what matters. Things getting done, and in a timely manner.

Braecen works for the members. This has manifested as I’ve watched Braecen single handedly go through the entire Arcona roster to do periodic audits of the members that were in need of reward, or at least get a bead on who was close to an award or promotion. He puts this first and foremost on his priority list, and then moves on to things like fictional development and event planning. He understands that a leader's first priority is to their members, and never looks to blame membership for things he’s not able to execute. He takes responsibility and then figures out how to adjust course.

Hell, he even manages to know exactly how to spur old members like Timeros and I into activity by calling out our House. It was a clever move that saw two Elders focused on other things turn their attention back towards a Halloween themed competition to put full effort in. I knew what he was doing, was aware of the subtle manipulation, and still found myself throwing down. It was one of the more fun competitions I’ve competed in since stepping away from Consul and as a regular member.

Recently, in the Sins of the Past II ACC, I watched as Braecen threw himself into the competition. Despite sitting back and dictating his members participate, he took the charge himself and competed in multiple matches. While the scoreboard doesn’t fully reflect his efforts, as Combat Master, I got to watch how it affected everyone else. When you have someone unrelenting, even in the face of loss, it becomes contagious. Brae helped generate matches, driving people to sign up and give it a go. From observation alone, I’d wager that the event would have seen significantly less action without his efforts.

Most importantly, Braecen listens. He hears what his members say, and uses it as fuel to move things forward. He creates activity not just for the sake of it, but in a way that helps members achieve what they actually want. He makes the people around him, leader or member, better by extension. He games, he writes, he does whatever is needed to help get others involved. And that’s the true mark of a leader. This is why I am proud to add my voice to this well earned Amethyst Kukri.

Keep killing it, Brae. It’s an honor to be active in the Brotherhood at the same time as you.

Primary reason

Since his last merit awards for services as Magistrate to the Voice, Braecen Kaeth has served dutifully for the last 4 months, approving 46 character sheets. While all magistrates had a temporary break during GJWXII, Braecen was still always mindful and on top of the queue, and went above and beyond by reaching out to members that needed extra help on their Aspects. He jumped into Google Docs, Telegram PMs, and spent unmarked hours working with members to craft their characters. In his remands, he was responsible for creating a Customer Service-like friendly tone and voice that I believe has reduced the stress of Character Sheet remands. His patience and maturity in processing these remands ties into how he worked with the rest of the staff (myself included) on making sure our wording was consistent and constructive, and never aggressive. For the Brotherhood’s CS system, this has yielded positive results that I do not believe should be overlooked. I’m grateful for everything that Braecen has done for the Character Sheet approval/remand process, and for how he engaged with members to create a better overall experience. The result of his work has lead to less complaints about Character Sheet remands, and better member responses to suggested edits and changes to their sheets.

Braecen Kaeth is a special kind of leader in the Brotherhood. He not only puts in the time and work to help encourage and enable others, but leads the charge by example as a competitor and participating member of our organization. This was on display fully in his efforts in Great Jedi War XII, where he lead his Clan with the highest points scored to earn the title of Hero. This included efforts across the spectrum of brotherhood activity, including an impressive second place finish in the ACC Tournament. This helped him earn the honor of Avatar of Strife, thanks in part to his similarly stalwart performance in the ACC during Phase I of GJWXII. Bracen was one of those rare individuals who stuck around and made sure he finished what he started. To that end, he earned 3 Silver and 1 Gold nova.

I will allow his Clan Summit to talk more about his accomplishments as a leader in Scholae Palatinae, but as a member of the Dark Council, I can’t thank Braecen enough for being the model of what I believe leaders and members should strive for.

Congratulations, brother. I will miss having you at my side as an admin and look forward to your return to the brotherhood in whatever capacity you set your mind to.

Additional reasons

It is a pleasure to add my support to this recommendation to recognize Braecen Kaeth for the dedicated service he has been providing to Scholae Palatinae and the club at large. For us in the CSP summits, Braecen is the beating heart of our team. Every success we’ve had, lesson we’ve picked up along the way, and moment we needed advice; Braecen has been there as a guiding hand to help us forward through these times. This past year has been a long, hard-fought journey for CSP; but Braecen’s been the guardian angel over all of our shoulders and I’m proud to assist in recognizing him for all his efforts towards our cause.

Since his last recognition for work as a Clan Leader, Braecen has organized 25 competitions, co-hosted 5 others, participated in a total of 148 competitions, completed 11 PvP matches, 4 PvE activities, finished 9 ACC battles, completed 8 fiction activities, written 12,296 words of fiction, passed 2 courses, and has earned the following: 1 Cr-R, 5 Cr-A, 5 Cr-S, 10 Cr-E, 8 Cr-T, 5 Cr-Q, 41 CFs, 59 CIs, 35 CEs, 84 CG, 1 Scroll of Indoctrination, 2 LSS, 24 Seals of Wrath. In addition, he’s served as Quaestor for 3 months and Proconsul for 6 months.

In addition to what is mentioned above, the three major events that CSP has experienced since the end of the GJW (Twelve Days of Sithmas, Battleteam Development Month, and the current “Battleteam Cup” contest) have all been the brainchildren of Braecen. This has involved several months of planning in advance that saw the creation of his Competition Roadmap excel sheet, allowing for the unit leaders and their members to properly plan out the schedule of future events and even get early input and edits from Braecen so hosts could more easily pass their events through the MAA office without issue. As well, during this time saw the creation of a planning group on Telegram with ongoing discussions that were mediated by Braecen. Announcements were created for each event, walking participants through new concepts in the competitions or in general just hyping each of the events, totaling a combined word count of 11,467 words including the final announcements detailing winners of the events. Through Braecen’s leadership, encouragement, and more importantly his help in editing; 14 different competitions were hosted for Sithmas, with 17 individuals participating which saw a total of 107 submissions within a three week period that Braecen then went through doublechecking the scores and compiling a final “Sithmas- Hard Data” document for the summit team. In January, for his Battleteam Development Month, Braecen provided each Battleteam with a list of 5-8 competitions to run through the month to gather Battleteam input and set the foundation of each Battleteam’s identity and wiki pages. Finally, for this month’s events, Braecen has been leading the charge again in planning discussions, spending late nights ensuring that each unit’s issues with the event were addressed in the planning document (word count included above).

These events aside, Braecen’s most important contribution to our clan has been as a leader and mentor. Last summer, CSP went through a large shuffle in our leadership teams which saw four new members of the summit team and four others moving into other roles. To get us all on track and situated for the coming GJW, Braecen did a crash-course in leadership for the entire summit team which was released over a course of 8 different email threads. These topics included; Gearing for the GJW, Competitions Overview, Competition Roadmap, Auditing Activity, Awarding Members, Writing Quality Recommendations (two part), and Post GJW Plans. Each of these email threads went into great detail, outlining expectations and answering concerns while also providing insight, tips and tricks for each of our roles. Complete with images, these threads were so detailed that I’ve totaled the word count for all Braecen’s emails on these threads to 18,703 words - not including labels and such in the images he provided. Yet, none of us were just abandoned with these threads as our only source of instruction. Braecen regularly checks in with leadership teams, seeing not just how we are doing but to see what problems we have or support is needed. He’s there to help us work out our competitions, our recommendations for others (how I could have used him for this), and strategizing with us towards our goals. Weekly, every Sunday or Monday night, he will go over the promotion assessment tool of every single member of CSP and make sure its reflected in our clan’s activity audit spreadsheet (which he created) and make sure us Quaestors are checking it out as well so we can make timely recognitions of medals or promotions. In terms of my own growth and development, Braecen has been a great mentor in handling the culture shift I’ve experienced from Tarentum and Taldryan to here in CSP where diplomacy is so important in our role. Several weeks ago, when I had a disagreement with a subordinate - it was Braecen who walked us through a mediation program that walked the issue back from concerning the CoJ to dealing with it in house and providing a resolution that was welcomed by all parties. He did this through days over back and forth communication on email, that lead to a mediated telegram conversation, and an established agreement between all parties that survives to this day. And I think it’s important to note, he did most of this just off of shift every morning - before heading to bed for the day. Yet, this guidance he provided through this time of crisis is not unique to myself - as many in the clan have similar stories of help in their time of need or counselling they’ve received to better themselves in the DB community.

So for all this mentioned above, and for what I am just not able to best articulate; I’m glad to add my support to this recommendation.

Braecen has been essential to everything we do around Scholae Palatinae since he transferred back in a year ago, and especially since being made Proconsul in August 2017. Brae brought much needed organisation to how we work as a summit, improving communication by the creation of countless gdocs for competition organisation, wiki planning, promotion tracking, and medal tracking. These documents included a competition roadmap, an excel file of every competition the clan intends to run every month (updated monthly), an activity audit keeping track of what every member should be aiming to achieve their next merit, and how far off they are, a set of spreadsheets for wiki organisation projects that included the status of every page we have / should have on our wiki (289 pages). In addition, Brae supported younger leaders in the clan by producing templates for fiction, graphics, gaming and container competitions, and heavily proof-read every EQ promotion / merit award that went through the clan to the point of entire rewrites when necessary.

Brae is a phenomenal member and it’s been a pleasure working with him to lead CSP. A massive congratulations from me and thanks for all the support you’ve given me in my first time as a consul.
