Medal Request: Grand Cross Obelisk Prelate Cethgus (6705)

To award one a Grand Cross is to complete one's collection of the 'crosses' in the Brotherhood. It also serves as the gateway to sacrificial blades - should future actions prove worthy - and a long future amongst the Brotherhood's loyalest champions.

Since his last elevation, Cethgus has been the pinnacle of what one should expect from a member and a Battle Team Leader. He has collected sixty (60) Clusters of Fire, nineteen crescents (4 Cr-A, 9 Cr-S, 5 Cr-E, Cr-T), a Legion of the Scholar and twenty eight Seals of Remembrance. His success has come from participation in a number of House, Clan and Brotherhood wide competitions including, but not limited to - 3 way clan feud (Uneasy Alliances), the CSP epic "Dark Tides", and many, many more.

As a Leader - the true measure of one's service to the Brotherhood - there are few BTLs that work with the tenacity and consistency of Cethgus. Since his last elevation, he has been the leader of two seperate teams. He has posted fourteen reports, hosted five competitions and administrates a new clan-wide initiative in Plagueis to train others to become better at Jedi Academy. A class that draws attendance and interest of several clan members both new and old. His involvement ensures we get two weekly reminders out, a class recap, execute a detailed lesson plan and track class assignments.

All in all, Cethgus has earned this medal with sheer activity, leadership and his desire to mentor those around him. Well earned, Cethgus. I look forward to seeing what lies in your future.

In the Great Jedi War, Plagueis moved from 6th Place overall up to 4th and contended for a higher position through most of the War, even holding 2nd Place at one point. Many of the Members of Plagueis did extremely well.

Cethgus was our gaming captatin for the GJW and helped himself received fifteen Seals of Unity. Congrats, Ceth. He acted as a guide for many members of Clan Plaguies throughout this time as well, helping them secure Seals and Novae. Great work!

Cethgus is a gaming machine over the last year, with having by far the MOST amount of games played. He played an impressive 1219 matches during 2011, which easily eclipses the second place winner and even surpasses the second and third placer's combined matches. For the amazing amount of matches played, I award Cethgus Entar a Grand Cross of the Dark Side. Congrats and well done lad.

Primary reason

Over the past few months, Cethgus has been a boon to Arcona's growing population of journeymen. He has stepped up, going far beyond what one would expect from a 'typical' Aedile, and shouldered a huge amount of responsibility for both Galeres and Qel-Droma's new members' progression and development in the Brotherhood. And all of this has been completed along with an increasing workload placed upon him by the Arconan clan summit. This is the kind of dedication and devotion that has sculpted Arcona's success, and it is the kind of dedication that should be recognised.

Over the past few months, Cethgus has worked with Atyiru, S'nar and Kyrun to ensure that each of these members achieves their full potential. One example is his dedication to helping the newer members with their gaming endeavours. He has single-handedly constructed a clan Arcona journeymen Flash Point and Operations group in The Old Republic with the sole purpose of helping the journeymen level up, gain Clusters of Fire, and help them get accustomed with the game. This has been particularly prevalent with S'nar, Morrighan and Kyrun, who've all benefited considerably from his help and experience. This is only reified by his recent endeavour to help S'nar with his promotion requirements, involving running four Warzones which took a total of four hours to complete. Furthermore, he has made a concerted effort to help journeymen in whichever platform they own, even at point purchasing games for individuals so that they may better enjoy their experience in the Brotherhood. He has even gone as far as to help members with their fictional development - which we all know is decidedly not Cethgus' strong point - and succeeded with members such as S'nar, who is now on his swift way to Jedi Hunter.

Not only has this consistent dedication to the members been recognised by his Quaestor, Proconsul and I, but I've even received an email from a few members highlighting the help he's given them, and asking that Cethgus be appropriately recompensed for his time. This is quite frankly inspiring.

All of this has been without want or reward; it's been for the members and the members alone. But this kind of selflessness is not restricted to helping the newer members. Indeed, over the past few months, Cethgus has shouldered an increasing amount of responsibility within House Galeres. With Sanguinius' increasingly demanding schedule, Cethgus has had to step into the fore, acting in his capacity as Aedile, and as a stand-in Quaestor, sometimes for months at a time. He has written reports, made key decisions, kept the members engaged, and ensured that Galeres continues to prosper even in the intermittent absence of it's Quaestor. In fact, he has done more than aid it's growth... Cethgus has, for all intents and purposes, facilitated a Galeres-dominant Arcona, refining what was once the clan's weaker house into a pillar of the Brotherhood community. Galeres now leads Qel-Droma in almost every aspect aside from writing. In this way, he has done more than any of the House's former Quaestors and Aediles ever could. And how did he do it? Investment of time, dedication, devotion, and investment in people.

Grand Crosses of the Dark Side are, "... given to those who have shown exemplary work in their position, demonstrating a keen understanding of their surroundings and helping to further their planned goals." In this circumstance, Cethgus has been more than an exemplar in his position; he has become a marker. Raising the bar is something in which Cethgus seems to excel, and he seems to have done it again. Moreover, not only has he demonstrated a keen understanding of his surroundings and interpreted the needs of the membership, but he has also gone above and beyond his means to cater for these needs. By doing so, he has set aside his own planned goals for the development of the newer members. This is surely a noble sacrifice, and one that deserves the utmost respect. But still, he has crafted a House worthy of recognition. He has stepped up, carried the Galeres banner, and demonstrated unequivocally that he is one of the key members of this Brotherhood. Arcona would be in a worse place without him, and I am both honoured and humbled to be recommending him for this Grand Cross.

Congratulations, Stu. You've earned it.

Cethgus has been my right hand man since the day I took office as Consul, and in that time he has been an excellent asset. After his most recent recognition for this - a Sapphire Blade on April 15th of last year - he continued to fulfill his role outstandingly. He is a solid complement to me: we have different skills that allow us to see situations differently and work well together.

As Proconsul, Cethgus has been a major player in continuing to develop our plans for the clan. He took my initial goals and expanded on them. For example, it had always been my mission to capitalize on WhatsApp and Google Hangouts, and use these more often. When Telegram looked like it would replace WhatsApp, Cethgus was a key player in helping the clan move over and get used to the new messenger. He also has increased our usage of Google Hangouts, which has helped bring the clan together even more. In addition, another goal I had was to expand our presence in the Antei Combat Centre. While I was not able to do this a lot myself, Cethgus was highly involved in this area. He's fought several battles of his own and built up a healthy rivalry among our members in the ACC. This started momentum that continues to move to this day, where many of our newer members regularly compete in the ACC.

Since that Sapphire Blade in April, Cethgus has assisted me and other clan leaders in running two major events for the clan: Red Fury and Awakenings. Red Fury was a joint event with Scholae Palatinae. Cethgus helped plan the competitions and assisted in planning and developing fiction, as well as helping to establish cordial relations with CSP leadership so the event would run smoothly. Red Fury was a great success. It's competitions - each co-organized by Cethgus - had a total of 35 participants, who made 161 individual competition entries over 12 competitions.

Awakenings was the clan's next major event, and saw three factions battling for control of the clan. Cethgus was a big player in the discussion of this plot-like and development of the event's structure. He also helped design and run the competitions. Also of note here is that, due to me being personally busy during the end of this event, Cethgus led in judging the majority of the competitions, including the 76,528 word runon event. This event saw 77 individual competition entries, from 22 total participants over 10 competitions.

Finally, last year, CNS was able to obtain a 70% participation rate for much of the year, and to this day clan members comment about how they love the atmosphere of the clan and how we get along well. Cethgus is one major reason behind this. He presents alternative ways to handle conflicts which I may otherwise not handle in the best way. He frequently assures members that he and the Summit are open to any questions they may have and without going into details I know for a fact he has mediated multiple disputes where members were comfortable coming to him and otherwise unsure of what to do.

For the above reasons, I would like to show my gratitude to Cethgus with this Grand Cross.

Congratulations, Cethgus!

Consul of Naga Sadow

P.S. Thank you for not trying to kill me for nearly a year. Be my Valentine, please!

Additional reasons

Cethgus has been a mainstay in Naga Sadow, ever since I returned to the Clan last year. He has contributed massively to the feeling of family we have going in Naga Sadow, by promoting the use of both Telegram and Google Hangouts where he frequently harasses us with his Warhammer models.

Gaming has been a staple of Ceth's leadership and he has made it his mission to get all of us involved in at least some aspect of it. He briefly taught myself and several others the details of Jedi Academy combat, and has made great effort in getting a functional raid-group off the ground by providing tips, tricks, and a presence in whichever role we needed.

Congratulations Cethgus! I can't think of a more deserving member to receive this award, just like I cannot imagine Naga Sadow without you.

Rollmaster of Naga Sadow

Cethgus has been a guiding beacon within Naga Sadow. He has been a calm, collected leader who encourages those in the Clan to better themselves. He’s worked well with Locke and helped run several Clan events. This guy kept in touch with his clan-mates and continued to participate in events while stuck on a mobile phone on a boat in the middle of the Caribbean. Locke has talked about Cethgus’ achievements. I’m here to talk about why Cethgus does what he does.

Stu loves the Brotherhood, despite the flak he’s gotten in the past. He never stops, he never gives up. The guy is a machine. He’s always there to offer advice, helping me talk through ideas to try out as Quaestor. Naga Sadow has blossomed under his care alongside Locke. Naga Sadow has grown in both size and activity; its members have shown their potential. Thanks to Cethgus, we’ve become prouder, more secure and more outgoing. The members of Naga Sadow often view their Clan as a family, Cethgus is that grumpy granddad who tells you off when you do something stupid, but wants to see you succeed. He’s there, constantly encouraging you, despite you thinking he isn’t. He’s that guy you miss when you realise what he does.

Cethgus, bro, congrats on your Grand Cross. Have another shiny to add to your collection.
