Primary reason: Howlader Taldrya is quite simply an example that should be held up for every member of the Brotherhood to emulate. There are few better than him within the entire Brotherhood at taking the most out of what the Dark Brotherhood offers, and the fact that this newfound life came to Howlader over a decade after he had joined, and subsequently abandoned me makes it all the more impressive.

At the end of the day, Howlader has one keen desire: to participate in the Brotherhood. In the company he keeps, there is often an overemphasis on winning, and on victory above all else. For Howlader, this isn’t the case. For Howlader, simply being a member, and participating in things is what he strives for… and the victories seem to follow along with him. It is this seemingly endless, begrudging enthusiasm that makes Howlader not only one of the best members of the Brotherhood, but one of the best Mentors.

Since he was appointed to the position of Rollmaster in Taldryan, Howlader has revolutionized how the position is run within Taldryan. His efforts in passing on his enthusiasm for “doing all the things” has resulted in a complete transformation of the position. Previously tasked with being an overall mentor, Howie has changed it from that limited scope to one where he not only gets to help oversee the education of new members, but directly takes a hand in guiding and mentoring Taldryan’s pool of masters as well.

His work as Rollmaster is often left unsung--buried under the mountains of personal activity--but between his nearly constant lines of communication with our newest and oldest members, and his prodigious administrative abilities, Howlader truly has changed the game. His efforts are one of the major reasons that Taldryan has returned to the prominent position it has once again. His efforts have overseen the elevation of eight Dark Jedi Knights in nine months on the job.

Howlader’s contributions in leadership, general activity, and mentorship mark him as one of the greatest assets that Taldryan, and the Dark Brotherhood have. For these reasons, and many more that my colleagues will be presenting, and even more that nobody can even quantify, I heartily recommend that Howlader Taldrya be presented with the Ruby Sceptre.

Additional reasons: It has been almost a year since we last awarded Howie, and he’s continued to be a busy little man. During this past year, he has managed to compete in 118 (!) competitions, earning himself 12 Legions of Scholar, 32 Crescents and a Gold Nova. He has also been a fiend in the gaming front, earning himself 7 Pendants of Blood and over 1000 Clusters of Fire. Howie has even thrown himself into the world of the Shadow Academy, earning himself 2 Savants during that time (along with all of the requisite Mavens and courses needed for those Degrees). He has literally done everything asked of him and then some, participating in every competition that the Clan has needed him for.

His activity alone would garner him a great reward, but Howie is not just about being active. As Rollmaster of Taldryan he has taken it upon himself to act in a manner that the younger members of the Clan can aspire to. His job within the Clan to help help grow and nurture the Journeymen. He does so not only by being supremely active himself and giving them an ideal, but by also being highly communicative and visible. Howie is a constant presence on IRC and e-mail, and on a regular basis touches base with most Masters and Students to ensure that everyone is on the same page. He has helped nurture many members to Dark Jedi Knight, with nearly as many having even moved beyond that and into Equite.

Much of the continued growth and strength within the Clan is due to Howie’s tireless efforts to help teach and mold the next (and even current) generation of members and leaders. He is always willing to lend a hand with any questions or concerns individual members have and does so in a timely manner. He expects much of those around him, but that is because he puts in just as much effort, if not more. The Clan has grown and bettered itself due to Howie’s efforts. This place would not be where it was without him.

Howie was the first person to welcome me back to the club and went out of his way to hunt me out on the EH channels (since I didn’t know the current channels for DJB). He repeatedly emailed me with his trademarked phrase of “do all the things” and pushed me upwards without being harassing or annoying about it. His easy way of communicating with the members makes him the perfect Rollmaster for herding Journeymen.

Since I’ve been here (just a few months), we’ve had a host of Journeymen crack into the ranks of DJK and beyond, significantly thanks to Howie’s constant minding and guiding.

I can’t add anything much more than what’s been addressed above, but it should be a no brainer to award him this Ruby Sceptre. Just do it!

Since coming back to the DJB from some time away in late 2012, I was still a JH. The first email I got was from a Howie fella that told me to “do all the things!!”. I was constantly getting emails by him asking how i was going, what he could do to help me and any guidance would be given quick and prompt. Howie’s e-mails were always cheerful and and made you smile. It was a sad day when I became DJK and Howie didn't love me anymore.

But it made me realise the effort he puts into his position of rollmaster. He did more than be a rollmaster, he would go out of his way to do anything in his power to help all the journeymen and journeywomen coming through Taldryan, he was a friend. This alone deserves a reward.

Apart from being the best rollmaster in the Brotherhood howie is always active in IRC for any purpose whether it be DJB related, runaround hack and slash in Diablo 3 or even just a general chat. This can also be seen in his achievements, apart from his many clusters and crescents he has earnt a 1 Gold Nova,5 Seals of the Crusader, a pendant of Blood, a Legion of the Scholar, a Legion of the Scholar, a Scroll of the Master.

Howie’s leadership is an example to all of Taldryan in the way he handles all situation with a can do attitude by ,”Doing all the things”, and by the way he can push ourselves to be better than what we thought we could be. His guidance will be the direct result, in my opinion, of many journey people coming through the ranks at incredible speed, and one day in the future be some of the best leaders Taldryan, or the brotherhood, could ever see.
