Headmaster Report

Another week, another report:

I have done quite a lot of revisions in the Shadow Academy HTML (you wouldn't believe how many personnel references are hardcoded there ;-) ). Also, the Phase 1 exam has seen some major rewriting again, eliminating all those two-part questions that caused a lot of apprentices trouble because they forgot to answer the second half. The notes for this course have also been adapted to remove all EH references and to incorporate the Dark Fury procedure (as well as cleaning up some ambiguous wordings). And - the Shadow Academy now has its new fictional location (no more Eos and Aurora Prime references!), on a moon of Antei, named Lyspair.

The next thing you can get your hands on will be a course on Krath poetry, by Lorad Desmos (thanks a lot, man!), this is in the process of HTMLization and it should be online by Monday night. The other courses are following on its heel, as fast as I can get the edits in and proofread everything.

But there's also a less great thing to report: Recruiting figures are way down - the last two weeks have seen rather little in terms of new APPs. Those of you also in other playing circles (yes, the Zone, etc.), do a little bit of marketing! We can really use a few dozen new active members, especially Sith and Obelisk!

Open jobs (we REALLY need that stuff!):

  • Creation of a Single Player Obelisk task for Phase 2 (doesn't have to be a custom mission, could also be a task to prove something with the game as it is - but I need an experienced Obelisk to tell me what would be right!!!)

  • Creation of the Phase 2 XWA battle

  • Courses in web design (basic level) and graphics (basic banners and composition)

  • And, most importantly, I need a second Phase 1 grader. I'll be on leave in July and it's vital that new apprentices get fast processing, so I need a reliable person to help me out here.

Criteria for all jobs: Reliability, competence in the subject matter and a rank of PRT+. Acolytes can apply but they really need to convince me they have the necessary experience.

So, that's it. Go and do something - a competition, a web contribution or even -gasp- a course!!!

PS: Please note the re-send request for Independence Games #22: Entertain the Chancellor posted below!!!

Here's an idea for the SA Staff to think about.

Since it's the SA's job to take Apprentices from entrance to being right on into the House, why should n't the Dark Fury Project, and the SA Staff in general include recruiters? Make the Envoys have actual meaning to the SA Staff, make them recruiters, as well, and have part of their duties to work with the Chamberlain's Office in working with Allies to recruit them into gaming directly with us.

It just seems like, if the emphasis is on the members recruiting, and when the recruit enters his/her recruiters PIN (they go to that Clan), the Envoys have just, again, become useless. Because really, if they've been recruited by someone else, and then they're told, "No, don't got to your friend for help, go to this person," ...nope. Not going to happen. Emphasis in the Dark Fury Project should be actually having the SA Staff work directly with the Envoys and the Chamberlain's office to find new avenues of recruiting, and of training said Envoys how to effectively recruit.

Just two cents.

Good idea, I'll add that to the Envoy job description ;-)
