Apologies for my late report. It was Jarla's last week (for those who you who remember her), and we went out for lunch yesterday. It just went on rather longer than I'd scheduled for...

1. September 'Sonnet' KMT winners. There were only two entries for this. I think I'm partially to blame for not giving easy instructions on sonnet writing - something I'll amend if I run a sonnet comp again. But I'm pleased to say that both entries I did get were rather good :)

Since I'm not running a KMT this month, I've decided to run a short little comp instead.

I want you to invent a word. It can be anything you like (SW-oriented or not).

Write a dictionary definition for it, and a paragraph illustrating its use.

The whole thing should be less than one page. E-mail it in .txt or .doc to [Log in to view e-mail addresses]

Closing date 12th Oct. Competition open to the entire DJB.

An Amethyst Cres will be awarded to the 1st placed entry. More awards may be given if there are a large number of submissions.

You must write a scene for a movie script. , I only want one scene. But in that scene I want something powerful. The scene must revolve around one of the following: Death, Torture, Destruction, Pestilence, Famine.. yea, dark stuff. ([Log in to view e-mail addresses])

Take the persona of some ancient powerful Dark Jedi. It must be some non-descript person, so no official characters, but some ancient Jedi that didn't make it to quite such heights of power. Tell his, or her, story.

We're expecting entries to be in the 10+ pages range. Closing date 7th November.
