House Qel-Droma Report #5

Greetings Brethren...
Sorry this is not to my usual style of report, and being a tad later than normal. But i have decided to reschedule the House report times due to the time of year.
Here's a quick run down :-
RM - Monday to Wednesday - no later than Wednesday please.
TET's - Same as RM
AED - Thursday or Friday - no later than Friday.
QUA - If the AED's report is in my mail box for Friday, then i will do mine (if i have the time), if not, it will be out on Saturday.
I think this schedule is more adaptable so people do not have to rush or be worried about deadlines. I do appologise for my lack mIRC prescence of late, but it seems that when i'm on, nobody else is :( Work is getting alot busier atm, this means more work and more money for me. I can't see it being any easier for me until after christmas. I have been offerd 7 day working shifts. So i'm a very busy (and tired) little bee.
House News
The first multi-Order House in the DB, House Galeres of Clan Arcona, is looking for an Aedile. We want a loyal, dedicated and, above all, active person for the job, who is ready to put everything he/she has into this wonderful House. Applications have been opened DB-wide, but it would be wonderful to place someone from our own clan in the seat of Aedile.
Required:
Must be of the Sith or Obelisk Order
Must hold at least the rank of Guardian
Must have at least three months experience in the DB
Preferred:
Having six months or more experience in the DB
Being able to play both Sith and Obelisk platforms
Having had previous experience as a Battle Team Leader or higher
Clan Arcona requires a lot from its House summits, but we reward them well. Do a good job as Aedile, and you will be rewarded handsomely.

There had rarely been a busier time for the Arcona Summit. All sorts of things were going wrong in the Dajorra system, and they needed the personal attention of not only the Consul and Proconsul, but also both House Summits. Proconsul JaM3z and House Qel-Droma Aedile Strategos were just about the only ones with a scrap of free time left, and even that was usually consumed by pressing matters. To add to the Summits worries, Christmas was drawing close, and just like every other year, there were medals to be awarded. And recommendations to be written, otherwise there wouldnt be any medals at all. However, due to their lack of time, the Clan and House Summits were unable to write the recommendations. "Im afraid drastic measures will have to be taken" said Consul Mejas to the assembled Clan and House Summits. "Due to our severe lack of free time, we will not be able to write medal recommendations in time, and therefore will not be able to award medals. However there is another solution. We could let members write recommendations for themselves. This will save us more time, and it might even provide us with better recommendations than we could have written ourselves. After all, no-one knows more about what a member has done than the member himself "
There was a murmur of agreement in the chamber. Sure, this wasnt the way it was supposed to happen, but when facing a lack of time, you had to improvise. And all agreed that Arconas Consul has improvised very well in this case. "JaM3z, Strat, since youre the only ones with some free time left, youll take care of all the recommendations. You will read them, and you will only send the very best recommendations to the Chancellor. After all, we dont want this to be an opportunity for members to get a free medal, do we?"
Strategos and JaM3z sighed; they were now forced to sacrifice the minimal amount of free time they did have, to boring Clan matters. Oh, well someone had to do it.
The following morning, signs were hanging all over the Arcona base and all House bases. They looked official, and everyone was interested in what they said. Here is one:
Clan Competition December 2003: All I want for Christmas
Your mission, should you choose to accept it: write a medal recommendation for yourself. The medal you are recommending yourself for must be a merit medal and cannot be higher than Steel Cross (this leaves three choices: Dark Cross, Star of Antei and Steel Cross). The three best written recommendations, for any medal, win. (Example: the three winners can all be recommendation of Steel Crosses, all of Dark Crosses, or anything in between). Submissions can be any size, as long as theyre not shorter than 100 words and not much longer than 500 words (I strongly doubt if anyone will reach that marker, though :P).
The awards for this competition are rather unorthodox: instead of the usual Clan level Crescents, the three winners will get the actual medal they recommended themselves for. NOTE: You can only recommend yourself for ONE medal, so choose carefully!
You heard it: be careful which medal you recommend yourself for! Undoubtedly, the vast majority of you would choose a Steel Cross right away, since its the highest possible medal you can get for this competition. However, we expect nothing but top-of-the-line recommendations for Steel Crosses, and its much harder to get one as well. For example, if you write a good recommendation for a Steel Cross, you have a reasonable chance of winning one. But if you submit exactly the same recommendation for a Dark Cross, your chances of winning one are much higher.
To summarize it all: not only do we watch the quality of the submissions, but we also keep in mind which medal youre requesting. Are you going for a small chance on a Steel Cross, or a large chance on a Dark Cross? The choice is yours.
Citeria: The recommendation must be based on facts. You cannot include things you havent done in your recommendation (for example, you cant say youve won six Krath Monthly Topics in the past year when you havent won them). Also, you cant include things for which you have received a merit award or a promotion in the past.
It is advised to be original, though. As long as you dont include false statements, pretty much anything is allowed. Who knows, you might even win the competition by blackmailing your superiors into giving you the medal! Also, a bit of humour wouldnt hurt either. But were not here to tell you exactly how to write a recommendation, youll have to find that out for yourself :P
Strategos and JaM3z are running this competition, and all submissions are to be sent to them ([Log in to view e-mail addresses] and [Log in to view e-mail addresses]), under the subject "All I want for Christmas". Submissions will be accepted until December 23rd, which gives you over three weeks to write a recommendation. On December 25th, JaM3z and me will announce the three winners. Goldiloks & the three Ewoks
Yes, thats right. Your Proconsul was in one of his insane moods again, and had this nice little idea. Now its up to you to do it.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it: write a classic fairy tale, but so it from a Star Wars point of view. For example, Goldilocks and the three bears can become Goldilocks and the three Ewoks. Any fairy tale can be used, as long as its relatively widespread and as long as you indicate on which fairy-tale your entry is based :P
Entries shall be judged on overall writing quality (of course :P) and humour, since this is primarily a humorous event. We expect entries to be at least 300 words long, and theres no maximum. Standard Clan level Crescents will be awarded. JaM3z and Strat are the judges, so every entry should be sent to [Log in to view e-mail addresses] and [Log in to view e-mail addresses] . You have three weeks to complete it. Have fun :)

Anyhows...
I'll be posting on my ACC fight with Kris later tonight, but for now, I am off to
Sydney!! My karate club is competing in the National All Styles tournaments this
year, and we've got a sizeable team going to the national finals this weekend. I'm
not competing on the grounds that I suck at it, but I am doing the camera work :)
All will be as quiet from my desk as it has been for the past couple of weeks -

for Strategos and Jandos. I'll prolly be running a run-on too, for any that care. I was
going to run a mini competition, but in between all the Christmas comps, these
two and all the rest going on, I'm sure the last thing we want is a comp for me. I'm
sure that our Quaestor will be running a competition of his own soon as well, so I'll
just come up with a good plot and go nuts :)
Thats all from me for this week... lemme know if Thursday is a bad day to send
my report on. I won't change the day, but feedback is always good :) On a side
note, my email isn't sending to the mailing list correctly. I changed a couple of
things, so with a little luck, the House Summit won't be the only ones to get
this :P Should that be the case, I'm sure they know how to include my report in
the House one.

All reports in, but Prophecy's as DJK Kris Omega is busy. It will be out soon! Great work on those reports, sorry i could not reply to them as i have been very busy and tired this week due to work and being engaged.
The Final Rant!
I don't think the word 'tired' best describes me at the moment. I would say 'Shatterd/Exhausted' is the more appropriate word. All i have been doing is work work work, and sleeping, managed to put in my work for Galeres, only to find that i had mispelled the word 'Galeres' (that'll teach me). So i have to do more work on that. I'm not happy with it anyway.
I have noticed activity is on the up in the house in general. Though, judging from KP Vassan's report, you guys in Dark Orb are about to get a swift kick up the arse! If someone sets a comp for you, please atleast have the courtesy to make an effort. These comps are for your own good. Please try harder!
Myself - Being a slave to money means that this week i will not be around at all. I can reply to mail quickly before i go to sleep in the afternoon. I have to work 7 days this week, 6am-2pm, aswell as do some christmas shopping. So i am gonna be exhausted. As a result, there will be no report from me next week! I will not be here over the weekend due to work. I will need my sleep badly.
