Yaaaaaay!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

I got accepted to three law schools! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

University of Toledo on full tuition, University of Dayton on I don't know yet, and Capital University in Columbus on 3/4 tuition. To stay with all of my friends, my girlfriend and the best damn football team in the land, I am about 95% sure I am going to Capital University. It's a private college, so even with 3/4 tuition I'll still end up paying about $8,000 a year for tuition and books. Then there's living expenses. Still though -- it's better than the 30k a year it would have been.

Now let this be a lesson to all you people out there that said studying is important. I am not graduating with the best GPA, but like most non-bookworms I know, I have a lot of logic skills and common sense whith is what you need to do well on the Law School LSATs. Sure, I didn't get into Yale, but I'll still be a lawyer and will be richer than all those damnable hippies.

As for other things in my life...I had more tests for class last week. Been working a lot. Same old same old.

So -- as you can tell, I've been busy. I'm getting back to normal again now. :)

Good news for you clan leaders out there. I have found a way to automate the process of running mailing lists off of the DB database.

What doe that mean? Well, it means that soon we will be able to use the email addresses in the form of [Log in to view e-mail addresses] instead of those pesky little egroups! The best is though, that you will NEVER have to update them by hand again! w000000000t!

This is the only real change that I am going to have CG implement on the current site. I want this now, so it's not waiting for Rebirth.

I'm the man.

I just want to take a moment to thank Cyris for what he has done with the ACC. I know that he and I did not always see eye to eye on some things and that never helped, but I am truly appreciative of everything he did. Let's not forget that Cyris was able to recieve an ED not too long ago. I just wanted to say thanks.

We're going to look into some changes in the ACC over the next few days. Nothing dramatic, but just a few things that need fixing.

In the meantime, Arc will stay on as the interim CM. thanks for the patience.

Egroups are still better as you can read up stuff on the next and have an archive. Also, you can reply to it :o)

Still useful for AWOL checks and such tho. But I'd not want to be without Egroups so I hope it won't be a mandatory thingy.

Actually -- this has every single functionality of eGroups except for a readily viewable archive, but that is a problem we are going to work around.

Consuls, Quaestors and the like will be able to decide if it is moderated or if it is open to everyone. There is the option of having digests of posts sent and there are the assorment of e-group-like functions available.

And considering that most egroups are rarely 100% up-to-date 100% of the time, this will actually be a great addition.

Tarentum has been using their's for some time now and BF has given me good reviews.

So -- sorry, but eventually it's going to be mandatory.

I wouldnt advice making the DB version of an egroup mandatory until the archive feature is up and running. I would also suggest that any clans currently using egroups that have archives both young and old find a way to transfer their data into this DB functionality. The egroups may have lots of worthless chatter, but they also hide considerably valuable information and history.

Just my two cents ;)

Oh... and the DB site aint up 100% of the time either :P

Since Jac forget to do big props let me add one....

Big Props to Jac!
For getting into law school, we knew you had to be good for something other then this.

(and alot of the older people in the DB work in IT Jac so we are all rich as well hahahahhahahaha)

To all the younger people out there you need BOTH an education AND common sense, not one or the other

I do think that the new DB egroups is a great idea. It would be wonderful not to have to deal with updating the egroups roster manually anymore, and I've got reason to talk since I've been out of the loop for months at a time because no one remembered to add me to egroups.

However, I do think an archive needs to be maintained somewhere. I'm just not sure if that needs to be handled on the DB site. If the Clans/Houses want to have an archive of everything that goes on in their email discussions (and they all probably do), then why not leave that as a responsibility of the individual Clans and Houses? With the option of receiving a digest of all the emails of the day, it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult.

Then again, this is just an idea I'm throwing out completely off the top of my head. I haven't put a whole lot of thought into it, nor do I actually have to deal with implementing it, so I'm not sure how Clan and House leaders would feel about this. shrugs
