Marshal James McKenna

Greetings everybody and welcome to my very first report - incidentally, the very first report of a DB's Lord Marshal in history.

Before I start, I'd like to thank FF and Jac (and honorable mention: Mav) for the trust they put in my with this appointment. The DC is a very good one with a lot of impressive and competant persons up there, shining like beacons through the Dark Brotherhood and consistently improving it before and more importantly, behind the curtains. I feel honored to be a part of the leading body of the Brotherhood and will do my best to throw in my bit to make things run better.

To my person: I am James McKenna, Dark Side Adept and member of this club for seven years now. I have a lot of command and leadership experience. I've been around long enough to know how things are running and can without doubt be counted with the "old dogs" around. A lot may not now me from my name - this comes as no surprise since I've been around on a different one. Rest assured, you don't have a green one up here.

What does the Lord Marshal do? The Lord Marshal is in control of the societies and the guilds aswell as multiplayer competition, both DB-internal and -external. Keep your eyes open for an extensive description to appear magically on the DC-page within the next few days.

My aim will be to oversee the three societies currently in existance as well as helping to create new guilds. I'll focus on an increased communication between these units and brainstorm with their leaders for interesting ideas and twists to make them more exciting.

As general supervisor, I am now also an additional authority above the society/guild leaders. This means that if you have problems with their summit, you can come directly to me so we can work on that. My door is always open - you can drop me a mail anytime.

On a small sidenote, I put all societies and guilds into a larger division called "DB Special Forces" for the time being. Also, the DBPA is now a part of your ID-line, as much as the ACC and GMRG before it, finally putting it on the same level.

The first official action is, that I disbanded all guilds in existance. The reason for that is pretty simple: I just couldn't get a good listing of currently active and listed guilds. For those that are currently in an active guild, you are free to have your guild re-established by matching with the criteria below. If your guild is active, this shouldn't really be a problem. The guild leader should drop me a mail with a fitting outline and organization and I'll see to it that they will get re-established.

For those fellows that always enjoyed playing Counter Strike or Unreal Tournament, loved the smell of fresh napalm in the morning, killing Viet Cong in Battlefield: Vietnam or relax with a good hour of galactic domination with Star Wars: Rebellion - this is your chance! _Everybody _is allowed to create a guild, effectively promoting your sideline hobby to full-blown DB-supported platform. "Wow!", you say. "Is it really so easy?!" Yes, it is. Well, almost. If you want to form a guild, mail me an application. If you can meet all prerequesites, you can officially create your guild. Remember: Guilds can eventually even evolve into societies!

Here are now the prerequesites for forming a guild:

    - You need ten (10) active people, wanting to play your specific game

    - You need to have an idea about what type of events and/or comps you want to run

    - You need my approval

Needless to say that every guild focuses on one and only one game.

Effectively now, I am opening the position of Praetor to the entire DB. I'll need a deputy to get some mundane work off my back so I can concentrate more on other stuff. The duties of my new Praetor will be to build me an office and to keep track of multiplayer competitions. With "keeping track", I mean to have them listed somewhere on a page and updateding them regularily. You'll not be forced to do that part of my job alone. :)

Therefore, the following criteria must be matched:

    - HTML (or similar, i.e. PHP or whatnot)

    - High email response time (preferrably 12hrs or less)

    - IRC presence

    - Rank of JH+ or enlisted with the DB for at least one year

The following criteria are desirable but not mandatory:

    - High IRC presence

    - Rank of OT/SW/KP+ or enlisted with the DB for at least two years

    - Knowledge of fancy stuff like Flash/graphics programs

Please send me your applications with the subject "Application for Deputy". Deadline is next week's friday.
