The Song Remains the Same.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Due to my current situation I am regretfully stepping down as Deputy Grand Master of this club. This position was one I wanted since I was a Flight Member in the now defunct House Arbroath.  Unfortunately due to the constraints of my personal life amongst other internet related issues between certain organizations I can not give myself the motivation to keep up with the tasks and Duties of being Deputy Grand Master. I have always viewed the Dark Brotherhood for what it is, a club, the Emperor's Hammer is the same way, and I have no qualms walking away from either organization. However I must say leaving the Dark Brotherhood is decisively harder to do.  To show the contrast I am inserting my resignation letter that was sent to The FC and XO of the Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet last week.

Due the events of the past weekend and the reaction from Command Officers and so called pledges of Loyalties that I honestly think have no place what so ever in clubs like this, not to mention membership restrictions I have decided to wipe my hands clean of it all. I am officially retiring from active status in the Emperor's Hammer and Dark Brotherhood, I wish to placed in their respective reservist groups in the slight possibility I may choose to come back at some point but it is unlikely anytime soon.

I have been in this club for over and six and a half years and I have seen many good times some in the Command Staff and as an Admiral, but  I think that the best time times I have had have been with Tau. I hate to say this but I think this club has lost a lot of its maturity, not necessarily from the CS but the complete lack of respect maintained by some members of the General Membership. I think some people have lost the perspective that this is a Club and replaced that idea as pseudo life in which they have come to and react to the problems they have in real lives for some kind of sick satisfaction. This was not a situation come to lightly, I hope at some point it can be regained, good luck gentlemen.

The Grand Admiral was a very influential person in my career within the Emperor's Hammer as was Sector Admiral Havok however now because of recent events I could not allow myself to be involved in the Emperor's Hammer. The fact that they would place membership restrictions I think was the final nail in the coffin.  The Dark Brotherhood, I decided I actually do want to stay in, but this unfortunately is not going to happen. I am going to be around in an unofficial capacity and I'm going to help out when I'm asked to and do what I can which may be very little. To my friends however I will always be an email an IM or a phone call away. On that note I'm taking a page from Tronsta's book and I'm going to say good bye to some people in this club that I shared experiences with, so lets start with Tronnie.

Tronsta: Ian, you rock man, we haven't seen each other as much as we should have lately but we both know how life is.
Alanna: Katy you're an awesome girl and I'm glad you're going to be onthis body, you'll do an awesome job I know it.
Mairin: Mai I hope you know how much I wish I hadn't gotten your job here, it was dirty crap and we know it, just remember to keep an extra blanket for me when I come to the isle's.
Kaerner: Best Commander in the History of the EH, I know how you feel with this whole situation.
Rein-to-bean: You suck at XWA and you suck at fixing Nuclear Weapons, good luck with SHW in the EH man, I know you'll do it justice.
Yacko: For people that hated each other for so long we are a testimony on how Alcohol can bring people together.
Firefox: Thanks for giving an old war dog a chance, you're a good leader, and you speak your mind without outside influence, everything will be fine man.
Darkfire: DFerer in purple! I promise I'll come see you soon, and I'm in stalling a dancing pole in your apartment.
Khyron: Khy you were one of the most influential people on my DB career, you did so much for so many people here, words don't do much justice.
DV: Well DrthVdr, it's been a long road since Sin Squadron, you know I'm always there for ya if you need a dose of reality man. ;)
Alastery: Heather you are probably the reason I stayed in this club back in the day. It  was cause of you, you're defiantly the reason I joined HSK, defiantly the reason I stayed. I'll never forget you hun.
Kawolski: Well the final three have been my favorite friends here, Kawolski you're the best man, for a die hard conservative capitalist gun toting SOB you make me think their is hope for humanity.

In conclusion......... see ya later folks!

Sorry to see you go Hades. This, along with the resignation of Kaerner should send a serious message to the EH. Good people have been lost due to the stubbornness and narrowmindedness of certain individuals. I don't want to point fingers, but simply expelling those or FORCING others choose between loyalties over a matter of differing opinions is quite stupid and is the reason why we are where we are at today. I can only hope that in the future the FC of the Emperor's Hammer can have a more open mind and learn to deal with matters in a more appropriate manner instead of making rash decisions that make both organizations lose quality members.

I know I didn't have that extensive a rapport with you Hades, but you will be missed, good luck buddy!

Hades, I'm very sorry to see you go. I completely understand your reasons, and I hope that some day you may find yourself back in active service here. And hell, if not, we'll have to find a DAoC server we both play on =P

Beyond that, I think its very sad that the pressure the EH is putting on us has made us lose Hades...

Hades, I don't know you nearly as well as I would like to. In the past few weeks, I've realized why you have such a wide base of respect.

I hope you'll continue to have fun, and maybe come back to a leadership spot when your RL calms down.

Hades:

My initial reactiont to your appointment wasn't all that great. I didn't know much about you, and had you made out to be someone you weren't.

You did a great job while you were here, and you're down to earth - something I think sorely lacks in this club (and others...).

It's unforunate I never had a chance to work with you, because I think you would have been a great guy to do things with.

Good luck in all your future endeavours, wherever life may lead you.

I only got to know you recently Hades and just wanted to say it was clear you did a lot of good as SHW and we all had high hopes for you as DGM. Members of your calibre are always deeply missed and I want to wish the best.

Hope to see you around at some point in the future...

As with Kaerner's...

A plague on both your houses.

Hades! Well from one old war dog to another. I am sorry to see you go. I truily wanted to work with you again on a project or two. I hope that your doing this for reasons that you want and not trying to please others. Just want you to know that you will be missed. It was good seeing you in action for a time again my friend.

~Gil

Hades,

There is not much that I can say differently than any others. You were one that I hoped we would not lose, but...I understand.

With whatever you go on to I wish you the greatest of luck. Don't stay a stranger to these parts.

I think it's said best in union with BD's and Jac's comments. But, this is hardly goodbye, Hades. We'll see each other around. It's really too bad you couldn't stick around longer. Ah well. That's how life is sometimes. Long live the Empire.

Aww babe.... just make sure you stay in touch :)
