**House Byss Report

**13th February 2005_

To the shadows we listen_

Welcome to my first House report. These reports are intended as a means for me to keep you all informed of the competitions and activities you can do, and help you stay up to date on news and events.

I have three main issues I would like to cover.

Battleteams

Given that A'Dira, Imrahil and Jaysun are on LOA, I've removed them from the teams until their return to active duty. With this I can fit the entire House into one team - I just need to decide which one. More likely than not, I shall open up Exar's Shadow and shift everyone to there. It is the first Phyle of this House, and its main RP ethos fits in with our current situation better. As numbers improve, I'll be looking into opening the other two teams, but for now we only require one.

Master/Apprentice Program

This issue is in debate. Before I decide what to do with it, I'll be speaking with Chi, and I'm waiting on a copy of the old Byss system (my address is [Log in to view e-mail addresses]). My current feeling is to close it down until we have enough people above DJK to support it, but we'll see how things go.

In the mean time, for the lower ranks, the Shadow Academy outlines a Dark Jedi Career Guide, which covers members from Apprentice to Protector. I agree with that system, and will be sticking with it - for now at least. I need to do some catching up on it though.

Positions Vacant!

Currently, our House has a couple of vacancies: Tetrarch and Aedile. I will be accepting applications until next weekend (the 20th). I'm not certain which of the two I'll be taking, or if I'll take both, but that remains to be seen.

Send your applications to me at [Log in to view e-mail addresses] and include any ideas you have for the House, and any past leadership experience you have in the club. Don't stress if there isn't much there, as I usually run my Houses without Aediles anyway :P

Competitions

Competition-wise, there are a few things to do. If you can get into the Krath Rite of Supremacy (www.krath.org/RoS.php) I strongly recommend it. Exar Kun is performing well in this, and if you can, please get stuck in to it and help give the other Clans a run for their money :D Every submission counts for participation points at least, which may just give us the edge to finish FOURTH!! in a major club-wide competition - quite an achievement for a Clan as small as ours. The graphics portion in particular is a nice way to get up some points - even a lousy drawing in paint can qualify if it meets the criteria.

Arania also has an interesting competition running, details here: http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/competitions.asp?ID=724 If you come up with an entry, send it to Arania [Log in to view e-mail addresses] and CC me [Log in to view e-mail addresses] so I can keep track of what you are doing.

I'm also asking for a list of the top five things that you would give a powerful Dark Jedi for his birthday, the funnier the better. Don't just click reply; send entries to me at [Log in to view e-mail addresses] some time in the next week.

Don't forget that the Shadow Academy is there if you are looking for something on the side. It is a good idea for newcomers to be doing SA courses and opening their minds to whatever they cover. Forgive my ignorance, but when I passed every course in the Shadow Academy, there were only three of them and you had to pass them all to join a Clan :P The Shadow Academy has come a long way since May '99.

Congratulations!

Congratulations are in order to the following:

Braecen, for a Star of Antei and an Emerald Crescent;

Bobert, for a Sapphire Crescent and a Scroll of Indoctrination;

Khan Kunar, for a Cluster of Fire;

Vithril Isradia Kunar, for a Scroll of Indoctrination;

And me, for a Ruby Crescent.

And scholar's caps to the following diligent students of the Shadow Academy:

Braecen, for a perfect score in the Conflict Mediation course;

Lucian, for passing the Krath Poetry, Conflict Mediation, IRC Basics and the Krath Core courses, and the Test of Wisdom;

And Brijha, for passing the Krath Grammar and IRC Basics courses.

Resistance is irrelevant. Victory is inevitable.
