House Byss Aedile Report

May 22, 2005

First things first. This last week saw both the opening of the Independence Games and the conclusion of the saga that drives this club. I went to see Episode III on Thursday and was quite lucky with my experience. Not only did I not wait in line AT ALL, but I was one of only 15 people in the movie theater for the showing. I got to sit there and simply enjoy the movie without being bothered, which made it all that much better of an experience for me. Now this may sound like sacrilege, but Episode III, to my recollection, is the first and only Star Wars movie I have seen in the theaters. I just simply don’t go to that many movies any longer. I must say that the experience of seeing that movie under theater conditions, I would not have it any other way. The DVD release will probably prompt me to do something completely stupid like buy a big screen and surround sound. I would write a review of the movie, but since I am less nerdy than most of the rest of you, I leave it everyone else to nitpick and find things wrong. I simply enjoyed Episode III for what it was, clapped vehemently for both Yoda and Anakin/Vader, and allowed myself to escape for a while. I loved it and would recommend it to everyone I know. Now, to the meat of the report.

AWOL Report

When I first took over for Vithril, I initiated an AWOL check. The response has been miserable. There were only a few people that I was iffy on whether or not they would respond, and I was let down by more than a few members. However, I am extending the AWOL check one more week to allow Scorpius and Syrus to round up their army and get them to work. Go get them back Scorps and Syrus!

There has been a couple of promotions this week which I would like to announce.

Protector Scorpius has been promoted to Guardian.

Acolyte Syrus Korodin has been promoted to Protector. (As soon as he revives his computer to active duty, I’ll begin his Trials of Knighthood.)

Awards

I am not usually one to toot my own horn, but I wrangled a couple medals this week. I received my third Dark Cross (goes nicely with the other two), and an Amethyst Crescent for placing first in Byss Trivia Live! I also pulled in another Cluster of Fire. ( Albeit a bit late from the SHW)

In recognition for their accomplishments during Byss Trivia Live!, Jonaleth was awarded a Sapphire Crescent for second place and Korbin reeled in the Emerald Crescent for third.

Competitions

As you all know, Unfinished Thoughts Part I went out last week. To this day, I have only received one submission. So, I am extending Part I’s deadline to next Sunday to allow the rest of you a chance to earn some medals! Get out there and write!

The Independence Games are out and in full force. I am happy to say that my fiction submissions are nearly done and out Adept Jonaleth has already submitted to a few competitions. All in all, it looks as though Byss and CEK in general are going to make a stand in the Games, more than likely taking home first place overall!

Shortly following the IGs, I will be putting out several competitions for House Byss. Also, look for inter-House conflicts and competitions run by the House AEDs, myself and Godo Nurok. We have nailed down a few good ideas and are working out the kinks and assignments. I ensure everyone that these upcoming competitions will be a blast, so just bear with me.

The Quest for Dominance

Man, I have seen the stuff for this ‘competition’ and it is pure awesomeness wrapped in genius. I commend Braecen for getting this all together and look forward to its launch soon. Keep your eyes peeled for updates as they present themselves!

The Isradias open their doors again!

Master Jonaleth, patriarch of the Isradia family, has inducted another member into the folds. Having been this member’s Master and guiding her to Knighthood, it only seemed proper that she carry the name of Isradia. So, without further adieu, All Hail Her Grace, Desdemonea Isradia, Countess of Illas Yeven! Welcome to the family Des!
