Quaestor Report

Greetings Exar Kun,

I am releasing this report a little earlier than usual, this is because of my long awaited holiday. A holiday which very nearly didn't happen. Whilst making sure my humble Ford Mondeo was 'sea worthy' we noticed that the two front springs were cracked. Great if you like your rides bumpy but for me and the 'Mrs' not so hot. Being in the motor trade means I get things at knock down prices, but even this little incentive still proved very costly. Ah well, at least I know why my car was driving more like a military jeep than a family saloon.

I believe had Rakhai, your former Quaestor would be extremely proud of your achievements. With your hard work and support we were able to contribute to Clan Plagueis winning one of the biggest events in the Dark Brotherhood calender. It's a landmark victory and hopefully the first of many. I am of course reffering the Independence Games. More on that in a bit.

Personal news is a mixed blessing, the 2012 Olympic Games now have a host country. Great Britain. Being a Brit or more specifically an Englishman I am proud to see the games held in this country, London. 2012 is a long way off, but if my fellow European and American counterparts happen to be in the neighbourhood during that time be sure to look me up. This good news is offset by some bad news, a terrorist attack on the London underground. A senseless act of destruction that has unfortunately cost lives.

On a more positive note we have the results of the Battleships competition. I confess a game of pure luck and chance it's a bit of fun after the competition intensive Independence Games. So which of you were strong in the force? Well we have winners! We even had entries from other Clans, even though it's open exclusively to Exar Kun!?

Here's the actual locations of the ships and the winners co-ordinates:

The yellow circles indicate the chosen co-ordinates, as we can see quite a wide shot coverage. The friendly ship was the Imperial Star Destroyer in the bottom left of the grid. Alas the winner did strike the ship, which meant a deducted point. None the less of all the entries this scored the most.

Hunt for the Quaestor

Well now its less of a hunt and more a kill the mercenarys, actually this has turned into one of the most enjoyable run-on's I have read and taken part in for a long time. It ends at the weekend and would encourage all of you who have not taken part to do so.

Just to recap on what's happened, your Quaestor, me. Was kidnapped by a Jedi of unknown origins and three mercenarys. After dispatching my personal guard they ambushed me carrying off my weakened self to their ship in the hanger. [note to self, sack all my personal guards] After valiant if not futile efforts to storm the ship they were all gunned down courtesy of the wookie. Rydack in a dazzling display of swordmanship defeated the walking carpet. After a narrow battle with the destructive Zabrak, Rydack was almost squished by a crate thanks to this little midget Bothan.

Braecen was thankfully on hand to save Rydack from his pancake fate. Only to be confronted by a powerful Jedi, determined to deal with the so-called Sith. Meanwhile the Zabrak has fled to the ship, angry that he had lost to the Dark Jedi Rydack he decides to gut Godo (me) like a fish. Only to be defeated by Godo, tortured and then had his mind shredded!

The battle rages between the Jedi and Braecen neither giving an inch. But another battle is also raging, Aabsdu and Rydack are desperately trying to engage the Bothan but manages to escape. The bothan realising that escape is impossible re-programs some droids to defeat the pursuing Dark Jedi. Certain doom is evaded by the surprise return of Esca.

The story continues...

**Debate Competition

**Her royal krathiness, Telona is running a debate competition. The idea is to...err...well, debate. Basically it's the friendly version of argueing, but you didn't hear that from me.

*The Independence Games - WE WIN *

Stating the obvious, I know. But we have won! I will say no more about this other than thank you so much to all those who put in the hard work.

*Archpriest Adam Anderson - New Envoy *

He has joined the Exar Kun staff as our new Envoy, he's a wonderful asset to the clan who was trained personally by Lucien. I would like to welcome you offically to House Exar Kun on behalf of the membership. I encourage all our members to welcome him aboard.

I had intended to fill this section with a whole host of news, about things of curiosity and amusement. Certainly I have a lot to be loud about. I have my holidays to look forward to and of course Great Britain won the bid to host the 2012 Olympics. But I am finding it exceedingly difficult to write this report. As many of you know who read my email earlier today or from watching the news on TV will be aware that this country was attacked.

In truth this is not an entirely unknown experience. I recall from my younger days the terrorism caused by irish extremest actions from groups like the IRA. But even I was surprised by this particular attack, not one single strike but multiple. And it was designed to maximise casualities and the locations were chosen to help increase the chances, using the London underground. There was, last I heard no warning and the time of the attack was intended to kill, plain and simple. No point was made or intended.

It wasn't even a military target, or part of the goverment infrastructure. It was purely a place for tourists and people who just wanted to get to work. Earn a living, get by in life. It wasn't even a specific ethnic group either, or a particular business heartland. In fact if asked me to find the most innocent and pointless target, that would be it.

Perhaps the objective was to strike fear? Maybe change the mind set of the public? The british by their very nature simply don't fit into this sort of catagory. Some do of course, but most dont. If you were to take a typical person from each country of the world, put them on a plane that was about to crash. I can say that the only one asking for a drink and peanuts whilst cracking a joke would be the british. Despite the chaotic scenes of carnage and destruction I saw men and women, straighten their ties, dust themselves off and get on with it. I saw strangers roll up their sleeves and help.

As I write this report London has the train networks up and running, bus services running and investigators hard at work determining how it all happened and by who. What has this achieved? Absolutely nothing. It has cost lives, it has cost a bit of money. But in terms of achieving some sort of political or religous point? None.

Every which way I have looked at this I have tried in vain to understand what the point was, and can conclude absolutely none.

Success and sadness all in one package, but lets not end this report on a grim note. House Exar Kun moves from strength to strength. That's a testament not to me, or Chi or even the Aedile Callus. This is a reflection on all of you, we're here to share a common theme and enjoy ourselves. With the summer coming up I'd like to see more of us have fun and enjoy whats on offer. Not only in the DB but also RL.

I will now be away for two weeks, and want to wish you all a very happy summer.

Your Servant,

Godo Nurok
