Long time, no official report. With school back in session and me back on a schedule, I think it's high time I get back to these on a consistent basis.

So big news from Jac all over. I got married. yay. I started school again. Yay. I moved into a new apartment. Yay. My computer dies. boo. I bought a new computer. yay. I get to go to the OSU v Texas game this weekend. Yay! OSU is gonna win Yaaaaay!

Married life is nice. It's a lot less stressful around here without big things to plan, and like I've been saying for months: I have more free time now that I'm married and back in school than I did before. I like living with Ang and we are doing just fine. If you want to see pictures, go here and enter the event ID as follows: 965603-Berling

Fun stuff. School is good. The courses are a lot more interesting and my professors don't suck. That's always good. Still trying to work on a way to get on IRC, but AIM will have to do for now.

Things have been running smoothly, and I think we are handling the transition back into the school times pretty well. I know people will have a lot more obligations these days, and we all need to remember that when we are working on projects and just in general. Keep up the consistent activity.

One thing I wanted to comment on: the problems in t he EH. As I said in my announcement a few days ago, there are a lot of people leaving the EH and some of them are coming here to be members. I don't know if you guys remember, but at one point we were good friends with a lot of these guys. I still consider myself friends with some of them. Our beef was with Ronin and Astatine, not the individual members of the EH. You would all do well to remember that. These members need to be treated with respect -- they are just like we were 2 years ago -- just a bit late.

For note, we are doing transfers of dossier on a case by case basis. I am personally reviewing the transfers and approving of what they get to bring here. Many are coming over without the big medals, some are dropping in rank to reflect the ones that may have been skipped in the EHDB. If you have any problem with the transfers, please bring them to me personally.

In other news, I am VERY pleased with the activity I am seeing from the RoS. Korras has made a fantastic competition, and the fact that everyone has bought into the activity speaks loads for him and for the DB as a whole. I hope everyone is enjoying the competition. remember -- it's all in good fun. Victory is good, but the rise in activity is victory enough for me.

Quick update: Pyralis has gotten me the first draft of the newest addendum, "Acquiring New Members." this document focuses on the different forms of intra-DB recruiting, talks about Dark Fury and the efforts that can be made to boost the numbers of your unit. It should be completely finished in a few weeks.

As always, thanks to Pyralis for his diligent work on this, and thanks to Alanna for her wonderful editing!

For a long time there has been a problem with the role of Praetors in the DB. Mainly, some DC members use them like crazy, and a lot of people don't. I want for Praetors to be important to the Brotherhood in a way that sets them apart from other positions. In this effect, I want a Praetor to feel almost like he is on the Dark Council, and I want the DB to view him in that manner as well.

To effectuate this goal, Pyralis and I prepared this policy. The Dark Council has looked at it without any issues arising.

This will affect a few people who are Praetors now, that don't have a big enough role under the new policy. For those that will still be praetors, they will have more access to projects and DC discussions.

Please review the new policy and keep it in mind for the future.

Immediately after Chi left due to some deep-sewn problems in out Justice system, we took a long look at the way we were doing things and decided that some needed reworking.

Mav, Pyralis and I came up with a proposal and sent it to the Dark Summit. The members have commented and I have come back at them with a few revisions. We are getting close to finding common ground on the end game in this. Yacko has just passed his comments by me, and I'm going to make some (hopefully) final revisions to the proposal and send it out to the DC one last time.

Among the things discussed in the proposal are: suspensions of member access, repeat offenders, jury/panel size and procedures, appeals, and some other random things.

I'll keep you all updated on the progress. It will all be put into the Dark Covenant before the final release of that.

This week I sent out to the Dark Council the second set of assignments for the position Handbooks. If you don't know, each Dark Council member has been working to create a handbook that describes their position and its duties in order to help with the eventual transition to someone else. A few are finished, but most of them have been half-way done since July. We are hoping to get these done all within the month so we can make them all public. I'll keep an update running on those.

Props to Anshar for being the first to get his revisions in.

Not much to report here this time. As you should know, we decided to take a break from coding for the month of August. really with RL, we didn't have a choice, but it was a nice break anyway.

I talked with jam3z today about some things. He and CG are jumping back into the coding and although we seem to have lost Aerick, we have gained Dessan as a coder. We should have more progress to report next week.
