Quaestor Report

Greetings Exar Kun,

Welcome to another action packed report, tinged with perhaps a little nostalgic sadness. For I am giving advanced notification of my resignation. Come November I will be stepping down from my position as Quaestor of House Exar Kun and become a regular member again.

Why November? Well it all boils down to my RL (real life) work comittments. One of our staff is going on maternity leave in November for six months, during that time I will be assuming a lot more work and responsibilities. So with a heavy heart I will be stepping down, it would be unfair for me to remain and let the House suffer due to my shrinking time restraints. During the time from now till the time I officially step down I will be looking out for a replacement Quaestor. Please do not send in applications. I will be working closely with the Summit to get the right man/women for the job, using this next month or so to evalutate the membership.

With that out the way on to the report.

<span class="style27">[FROM LAST WEEKS REPORT - CARRIED OVER]</span>

Before I repeat what Warhunter has already said let me make one thing VERY clear. You can not, I repeat can not transfer to another Clan during the Obelisk RoS. Two of you tried, please no one else bother. It has already been said on the Dark Brotherhood web site and now I am repeating it. You can NOT transfer out! Once it has been all finished, you may do so.

Dark Greetings Plagueis,

Its been sometime since I've addressed this clan as a whole, and while I'm proud again to do so ;) I can assure you i'll keep it to a minimum for the reasons of my current position.

As the title informs you, I have decided to send a bit of information to you all about the current Brotherhood-wide competition, the Obelisk Rites of Supremacy. To begin with I will be detailing the event, and answering some FAQs ive been receiving. For those interested in the major message of the title, scroll down till you see the bolded text. Ive included some non-gamer information below for you.

**

<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">What is the Obelisk Rite of Supremacy?</span>**

This event is a DB-wide competition, hosted by the Obelisk High Commander. In past times when the Brotherhood was Order-specific, the ORoS was held as a competition between Obelisk Houses to determine which was the strongest and most loyal to the Obelisk Order, which afterwards would award the victor as the 'First House of the Obelisk' (much like the Great Jedi War awards the victor the title of 'First Clan of the Brotherhood'). The event ran for an average time of a month and followed a storyline built by the OHC. Present Day, the event is still hosted by the OHC and Obelisk order but because of the Multi-Order Nature of the Brotherhood, it is not limited to Obelisk members anymore. All orders may participate in the selected events, which are not longer limited to just the JK series.

<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">I am Krath/Sith, can I participate?</span>

Yes. As stated above, all orders are allowed to participate. If you have either: JA, JO, JK, BF, Allegiance, can write, or battle in the ACC then "you are golden" (means your good to go ;) ) As well, XvT and XWA might be making an appearance in the event in the future.

<span class="style25" style="FONT-STYLE: italic"> NOTE:</span> At this moment you can not battle in the ACC yet for the competition. Once the clans start fighting each other in the storyline then the ACC will be opened. As for writing, a new event has opened up in the ORoS and details are included at the bottom of this email in <span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">bold</span>

<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">What are the rewards for this event?

</span>Because this is a DB-wide event Novae and CFs are being offered. If after each round you come in the top 3 for one of the games being used you can earn yourself a Nova. CFs follow the same rules as MP Nights and ICTE days. In addition, because this is the Obelisk Rite of Supremacy the clan will be earning some "Obelisk-related" prizes depending on our placement. (i haven't heard what is up for grabs but im assuming artifacts/ground vehicles/ect.)

<span class="style25" style="FONT-STYLE: italic">SPECIAL NOTE:</span> The new ECF is being offered on special days. Beat a guardsman and earn this rare medal. Watch the news page to know when the reward is available.

<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">Why should I participate?

</span>Three Reasons: 1) To earn yourself some nice shiny medals. 2) To earn merit towards your next promotion  and 3) To show your loyalty to the clan, and prove to the Brotherhood that our IG'05 win was not based on luck.

**

<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">Im going off to school/I'm really busy with work, is it alright to skip the competition?</span>**<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">

</span>Real Life sucks, we all know it and no one holds it against you. However, because of the seriousness of this event I ask every member to participate at least a couple times during the event. I would suggest to try for at least 3-5 games a week if you are really busy (cuz honestly a game is only 5-10 mins at most) and make sure your superior knows of your current state.

**

<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">I can't find an opponent, what do I do?</span>**<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">

</span>Don't give up! Make sure you are in #gmrg at all times and try to promote yourself, as well jump onto the servers and see if theres anyone there that is free for a match. If all else fails, talk to me. I know i can't compete against you but I be more than happy to find you an opponent. Just remember that it takes time, as well if you complain or are rude in anyway it could hurt the number of ppl who would want to free up time for you. As well, remember that if someone says they are busy, ask for the reason but don't bug them about it. if they are busy, then they are usually busy.

<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">I don't have any of the games, I don't write, and i don't like the ACC. What can I do?

</span>Well honestly, that doesn't give you much choice in the DB. However, there are always other things you can do. Talk to me about it, fore I always have things people can do and I take pride and making sure they are rewarded for their efforts, even if it means making an ass of myself to the summit to get it ;)

<span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">For those that don't have the games for the ORoS</span>

A new event has opened for the competition. Take a look at Korras' post:

<span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-STYLE: italic">"The first of the special events. This runs two weeks, and will be added to the total of one of the updates. Participation also scores points, so if you can't game for whatever reason, nothing will stop you from scoring points now.</span>

<span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-STYLE: italic">The war has just begun. How is your character adjusting to battle? Is he or she in the trenches somewhere? Is he or she whimpering in the back? Or slaughtering things all around?</span>

<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic"><span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">In other words: a fiction(TNR 12, 2 pages minimum, no max), with the subject being your character in this war. Entries are due Sunday the 18th. Recipients should be me, Telona, and Kaek. We will judge them on writing, creativity, originality and humor."

_Chapter 2 ‘ Reviving old friendships’ _

<span class="style4">When he was still trying to fashion his long red cloak, he already opened the door of his quarters. While looking up, he saw the reptilian countenance of a very familiar face. It smiled and showed his sharp teeth. </span>

<span class="style4">“My good-old friend Virulence” Gaidal said while smiling, “what brings you here?” </span>

<span class="style4">“Well, I was wondering where you had been…” the Jedi Hunter declared, “after you helped me on my last mission I kind of lost you. I never figured you were in your quarters all the time. I thought you were most likely on Korriban and with my trials it would be impossible to go there and visit you.” </span>

<span class="style4">“Well, same here” Gaidal answered, “have been preparing myself here ever since and yes, I’ve been away for a while to Korriban. Those trials are absorbing a lot of my precious time and I can’t even go to the Lounge to seduce a couple of women. I heard a couple of new Twi’lek dancers arrived a few weeks ago…” </span>

<span class="style4">“Well, yes” Virulence intervened, “but they all ended up in the same bed!” </span>

<span class="style4">“Yours? I never thought you were like that Vir”, Gaidal laughed. </span>

<span class="style4">“No, no… rather than eating them, I wouldn’t want to do anything else with those dancers. They all ended up in the bed of Jedi Master Michael Halcyon.” </span>

<span class="style4">“The Jedi Master? You mean _Mik_e Halcyon? How did he get there? With all the Brotherhood-members around?” the Guardian asked surprised.</span>

<span class="style4">“A member of the Dark Council is still investigating it. Korras thinks that Halcyon used the Force to mask his true identity and there were only inexperienced students in the lounge back then. He could have easily killed them all without blinking his eyes and they wouldn’t have even known what hit them” the Barabel explained. </span>

<span class="style4">“Well, maybe the how isn’t that interesting in the end; perhaps more interesting would be why he was there. A Jedi never does anything without reason. Once I get back, we’ll look into it together” Gaidal stated. </span>

<span class="style4">“Are you leaving then? I was hoping we could talk some more in the Library?” Virulence asked. </span>

<span class="style4">“Some other time, I really have to go now. We’ll keep in touch and talk each other soon. I’m already curious about your theories on Master Halcyon! Bye Vir.”</span>

After that Gaidal spurted away through the small corridor and left Virulence puzzled. What was his friend up to, the Krath asked himself. He decided to follow the Sith slowly and would keep a low profile. He would give his friend all the space he needed without being detected. Somehow he was convinced that he was in trouble and that things would get messy. So the Jedi Hunter started walking into the last direction he saw Gaidal disappear in the darkness.

++ Look out for Chapter 3 - 'Plotting strategies’ in my next report ++

Back by popular demand, my rants and ravings are back for another week. Now normally I seem to drift onto a topic that tends to slam goverments, peoples and damn adverts! This time I am going to highlight my own personal failings along with my partners, wife to be's little embarressments.

Firstly let me begin with a very dark tale concerning a pub chain. I was going to enjoy a carvery, a selection of fine meats and enough vegtables to sink a battleship! Now first off let me say if you are a little young, say twelve and under then skip this section for the next.

In this country, and I suspect numerous others the term 'jugs' can have many meanings. A jug is a container, that holds any number of liquids including water and milk. It also has a reference to the female part of the body known as breasts. I know, this report is getting really exciting. I asked a waitress if I could have a jug of water with my meal. She said it was fine, but pointed out that the jug was very large. I swiftly responded by saying I liked large jugs. She naturally gave me a raised eyebrow, I knew exactly what she was thinking and in a panicked attempt to correct myself said and I quote "Sorry, I mean I like very large jugs". Naturally that wasn't quite what I was trying to say, I then attempted to dig myself still deeper by trying to explain what I meant. By the end of course conversation the waitress was so embarressed she had gone very red and tried to fan herself down with the menu. Not Godos finest hour I think you will all agree.

Of course my wife has done some equally humerous things, highlights included a trip to a road side cafe called Little Chef. She announced quite loudly that though my hair was turning grey at least I wasnt bald, especially being bald was she considered not a good thing to be. Of course the table right next to us happened, and you guessed it, to have a bald man sitting at it. Needless to say you could hear a needle drop.

On another occasion, someone had parked their car so close to ours she had trouble getting in and out. She announced, again quite loudly, that she would need mountain climbing gear to get over the car parked so close. The owner of the car was standing right behind her when she said it. Once, whilst stopping at the motorway services we encountered a truck with a couple of sheep in the back. Again, quite loudly she announced the owner of the car would be having a good time tonight, assuming the driver was a man and that sheep would be his 'best friend'. The owner, an older women was standing right behind her.

I would like to personally thank the Emperors Hammer for doing such a brilliant job, I know what you are all thinking, Godo has indeed gone mad. But humour me for just a moment, the Emperors Hammer has been one of our best recruiters, indeed the founding membership came from the EH and our recent influx of veteran members have come from the EH. Which let me just say, I am very pleased to have them aboard. So, a toast to Astatine for keeping is supplied with good, solid and dependable members. Cheers.

Also, as a quick note of reference I now have World of Warcraft, my first online Role Play Game. Yes it isn't Star Wars Galaxies so sue me! :P Keep up the good work people, you make an old Quaestor very proud.

Your Servant,

Godo Nurok
