Consul Report

Seeing as this is my first report as Consul and I haven’t yet taken the time to address the Clan in such a capacity I’ve decided this report will just explain a few things and open up the floor for questions and such that I’m sure a lot of people have. Regular news can be found in your QUA/AED reports.

Small Introduction

**

To start off for the people that don’t yet know, Kir recently retired from his position as Consul of Taldryan after almost two and a half years of amazing leadership. It’s a huge change to the Clan after so long but I know we’ll continue to do great. Before he retired Kir named me as the new Consul. For those of you who don’t really know me (unfortunates that you are) my nick is Shadow Taldrya. I’ve been in the Brotherhood for just over four years now and have spent all but the first month in Taldryan. I’ve served two terms as Dinaari Quaestor and have been the Clan’s Proconsul for the last six months. I’m on IRC regularly with the nick Sh4dwhr and can be found on AIM, though I prefer not to use it, with the name Sh4dwhr. For those of you curious as to the IRC/AIM nicks my old nick was always in use by some random person on IRC so Mavvles suggested Sh4dwhr. It fits me perfectly.

Question/Answer

**

Will I be appointing or taking applications for a new PCON?

Not at this moment. For now TBA will once again fill the position as he did after Sharad retired from PCON. I will be monitoring peoples leadership progress but I like the House Summits where they are right now. They’re all doing a great job and there’ll be an increase in competitions and activities now that we’re clear of large Brotherhood competitions for a while.

Will I be changing the current summit/envoys?

Definitely not. As I mentioned above the House summit is doing a great job. The Clan’s envoys are doing an amazing job pestering our new joinees to get into competitions and get on IRC. Hopefully with this new “idiot-proof” Test of Lore we’ll see a rise in active new membership.

Where’s Kir now?

Well shortly after Kir resigned as Consul, Jac appointed him to the recently vacated DGM spot. So everyone congratulate him on the huge move up in station. I’m sure he’ll do a great job taking over for Mav, who is back in Taldryan (yay!). If you ever have questions about DB policy or have problems with someone that I can’t deal with Kir’s door is always open.

Clan Competition?

Yes there is a large Clan competition in the works. Kir and I started on it some time ago but things like the Independent Games and Obelisk Rite of Supremacy came up. I’ll continue working on that with the House summit though I’m not sure when we’ll be running it. For now we’ll have some small fun competitions both gaming and fiction based to tide people over. If you have ideas on what you’d like to see for House/Clan competitions feel free to email it to your QUA/AED or me. We are making these competitions for you guys after all.

Tal Times? Clan Address? Other old CONly things?

I won’t be removing any of Kir’s old ideas. The Tal Times will continue and the latest edition can now be found here - http://www.taldryan.org/taltimes/5/index.html - Though I am thinking of updating it a bit. Probably start a little group of people to toss some ideas around on enhancing the greatness of the Tal Times. Cohors will stick around. I’ll announce them bi-weekly as I’ve been doing in my PCON reports. Everything else will remain for the most part though some things might be tweaked a bit. I also plan on going through the Tal site and updating/correcting all the information same with the Clan Codex.

Future Plans?

That’s actually one of the things I need to start working on. I never gave it much thought as PCON because Kir always knew were he wanted the Clan to go… or at least made it seem like he knew. I plan to fix this right away. Of course I’ll take any suggestions members have. Ziggy has already sent me a list of stuff to go through. I can’t promise I’ll be able to use every idea thrown my way but I’d be willing to look them over and discuss them with you.

Special Announcements

**

The Clan Training Operation run-on has been re-opened. If you’ve read the Tal Times (and I know you all have and loved it) the storyline featured an update on where everyone is and what the current objectives are. If you’re new to the RO please read over Kir’s first couple of posts to get an idea of what’s going on, then read my latest and add yourself to a team.

If you all recall some time ago Kir announced a group of Clan Special Awards. The current ones can be found here - http://www.taldryan.org/awards.php- Today I’m going to add to these great awards. For his dedication to Taldryan for so many years we’re going to honor Kir by adding a reward based on the qualities he showed during his tenure as Consul. Without any further ado I present Kir’s Prosperity – the Ring of Kir.

Kir's Prosperity: During the years of inactive leadership that had deteriorated the clan's once immaculate reputation, a leader of merit known as Kir Katarn slowly rose from the abyss of House Ektrosis' Summit to become the Consul of Taldryan. Kir had to combat Taldryan's tarnished reputation brought about by the indolence of the one known as "Tiger" who had led prior to Kir. Conquering insurmountable odds, he was successful in establishing a reliable support base to lead the entire clan. His nascent leadership as the initiator of a legacy of Taldryan might have ended here, but it did not. He continued with a relentless determination.

Kir Katarn wore a ring. Some say it symbolized a union with the Dark Side itself. The Elders in Darkness knew that it was a ring of destiny. The ring, which was known only as the "Sacrifice of Kr'Tal," was passed down from the worthiest of sovereigns of Taldryan. Inherited directly from Lord Darth Jac Cotelin, the Sacrifice of Kr'Tal soon became synonymous with the triumph realized under Kir's two-year reign as Consul. The Ring of Kir evolved to become a symbol of the vast strength, wisdom, and vision of its bearer. Many attributed Consul Katarn's successes in the Great Jedi War and other Rites of Supremacy to its boundless capacities for pacifying those in its path who were not worthy.

Crafted from the raw metallic core of Karufr, the Ring of Kir symbolizes a Consul's relentless pursuit for perfection in the face of intractable odds. He who is worthy of its recognition has played an incomparable role in the advancement of Clan Taldryan, it ideals, and its supremacy above all other Clans within the Dark Brotherhood. Its bearer is a model of excellence and source of vigor and pride for the clan's members. The Ring of Kir may only be held by one person at a time, signifying the bearer's immortal yet singular role in the legacy of Clan Taldryan.

We’re still deciding on a graphic for the ring, but Kir will be the first awarded the Ring of Kir. Ben will be adding the compact version of the reward to the Awards section of the Tal site. Big thanks to Pyralis for the write-up and to the House Summits for input and suggestions.

Closing

**

Well that’s it. Hope you managed to read through it all. If you have questions or suggestions for me please email them. If you already have ideas or questions it’d be best if you could send them right away while we’re still in the transitional phase. I’ll have a “normal” report out next week.
