What's Important...> Another week has come and gone. Halloween is coming up for those who celebrate it, and for those who don't, you can still act like candy-grubbing pagans like everyone else. Really big news is that November 1st is almost here. For those who don't remember, November 1st is the release date for both Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, as well as Battlefront II. As I mentioned before, I have Battlefront II on pre-order (I don't even have Episode II pre-ordered), and after I've gotten and played that, I will be doing a review of it for people who want a little more information before getting it themselves. From all we've heard, though, this game is supposed to be fantastic, so I would encourage people to think about getting it.

The Sith War is coming in January or February of 2006. For those confused, when I say Jan/Feb 2006, I don't mean it will run January to February. It will be released sometime in either of those two months. The reasons I say this is because 1) I don't want to overload people coming off of the holidays, and getting back into school; 2) I want to make sure everything is prepared adequately before release; 3) I don't know what (if any) holiday comps the DC will be throwing, or individual Clans, and I want to make sure those will have adequate time, as well. And on the subject of the Sith War, people have asked me what they can do to prepare, what games will be used, what they can expect in this War. The advice I will give is, just make sure people are active. Work on your strengths, make your weak points stronger, and be ready to have fun. That's honestly the ultimate goal in this, is I hope that you'll be able to enjoy yourselves in this competition.

Oh, and I'm looking for opinions. What do people in the Sith Order think about lightsabers? Are you happy with them, or would you rather see lightsabers burn in hell, and choose some other more appropriate weapon for the awesomeness that is us? I'm not going to say why I'm looking for these opinions, but I am curious about that. Feel free to leave a comment, or email me.

What's Not...> So, I've been part of the beta for City of Villains. I know, I know. "What does this have to do with Star Wars or the DB?" Well, technically nothing, except for the people who are interested in it. Personally, I'vebeen pretty impressed with the game. Yep, it's an MMORPG, and I enjoy it. It's the "villain-version"/sequel to City of Heroes, but it improves upon the things that City of Heroes lacked; namely, the ability to be bad. The gameplay and controls are better, and I hope they take those kinds of things into account for City of Heroes, so it can be updated and whatnot. If you're interested in either game, go to www.cityofheroes.com or www.cityofvillains.com for more information.

Also not interesting, for now, is the Sith Order site. Yeah, I still need to work on that. Fortunately, I have had offers from people willing to help, and to those people, I will be getting in touch with you all once I have more ideas, and know what everyone can do to assist. At present, I'm really the only one with access to the site, so it's a matter of seeing what people can do without access to help me get things done. I'm also working on an outline for what I'll need for the Sith War site, since I already talked to Jac about that, and he said he can probably help me out with that. More on that whenever.

What's Interesting...> The growth rate of this club is phenominal. I find it interesting and impressive that in the time of Spears being Headmaster, the number of tests taken and such is nuts (if you want to know the numbers, ask him; it'll blow your mind). I think it's a testament to the membership of this club that we continue to grow, and be active. It's not the Dark Council; sure, we're doing things to help assist and direct the club along, but if anyone tries to say it's purely the actions and leadership of the Dark Council that keeps this club alive, call them on their bullshit. Props and acknowledgement to the actions and leadership of the Clans, and the general membership itself must be given. You people are the ones going on and spreading the name of the Brotherhood, recruiting, and helping new members adjust and grow. You people are the ones out there gaming, making our reputation as an active club remain, and be recognized by other clubs.

Personally, I'd like to one day be thought of as an active, exceptional leader, but whether or not that happens is a direct result of my actions. I'd like to hope that what I do makes that a visible result. This club is active, growing, and one of the best clubs available. People recognize that, and people join us because of that. That's a direct result of everything you do. It's not a by-product of having coders work on a site. It's not a result of a competition that the DC put out. It's due to the atmosphere, the personalities, and the hardwork of everyone involved. And so for that, again, I tip my proverbial hat to all of you, and express my appreciation for what you make this club just by being here.

And to the leadership of the Clans, and the Dark Council, we have an excellent membership that we are allowed the honor of directing. Let's make sure they know we appreciate them. Jac recognizes people all the time in his "Props" section, but even that is sort of a "bare minimum." I think we should be taking every opportunity to acknowledge hard work. I see it in House or Team reports; I see activity reports, or "Yay so-and-so!" kind of things. Maybe we ought to be taking that mindset, too. Just a thought.

What's Happening...> Sunday is happening. I can't think of much else; my mind is sort of misplaced today. I could tell you all why, but then I'd have to kill you. Top secret, hush hush, that sort of thing. Or maybe I'm just messing with you all, and need sleep. That could be it, too. We'll have to see.

Anything Else...> Yes, there's something else. We're all living, breathing people. Let's act like it. 1) Open the blinds in the morning, and greet the shining sun. 2) Have breakfast, but think about what you're going to eat, don't just slather syrup on a mound of pancakes, random meats, and whatever else happens to be within sight. 3) Take a walk, enjoy the day, find something to be thankful for. You'd be surprised how much more you can see when you actually look for good things in life. 4) After appreciating what you have, and what you've earned, come back and have a little fun, and remember that the computer isn't everything.

And why do I say this? I think people are honestly getting stressed out, and overwhelmed with imagination, and forgetting that there is a life outside of their room, house, whatever. There's people in this world, and believe it or not, some of them may want to go to dinner with you. Some of them might even be willing to hold hands, take a walk, and maybe even get touchy-feely with you. See what's there, realize this is a leisure activity, and not where you should exist. This message brought to you in part by life. Have one. Please. For god's sake, please, remember your ass isn't glued to the computer chair! Heh. And honestly, if you can't laugh at that, then you're one of the people who really needs to follow those instructions.

To Wrap it up...> To wrap it all up, have fun, enjoy life, and remember to live life once in a while. Preferrably once a day, you should go live your life. Have a good week. Go to a club. Maybe even make out with someone cute, if you can. You'll love yourself in the morning if you do.

i think the sabers are good as they are now. cept i really want a double sided one lol.

Personally I would like to see an image of the member's lightsaber and possibliy an image of nonlightsaber weapon of choice like a battleaxe, katana, ect. but i doubt that its possible.

Having a lightsaber is part of what it is to be a Jedi, Dark or otherwise. I think that completely replacing lightsabers with some other weapon would be a very bad idea, but in keeping with the RPG element of the club it would be nice to see people be able to choose from a list of weapons that they were proficent with. That would allow the people who wanted to focus only on lightsaber combat, melee weapons, or a combination of the two to do so.

Just clarifying: I'm not looking for a yes or no on "should we rid ourselves of lightsabers in the Sith Order." I meant that more as a "What do members of the Order think about lightsabers?" Personally, I'd like there to be an individual choice about whether people want a lightsaber, or a vibrosword, or a force pike, or whatever. But, in order to get something like that out there, I just need to gather and gauge opinions. :)

I guess I could state my question a little better. What would members of the Sith Order think about the option of having an option of what weapon to display, instead of just lightsaber-only?

If anything I say the Krath and Obelisk should be banned from using lightsabers and only the Sith have them :P

Despite that statement being silly the way I see it the Sith are the Order with the most direct ties to the Jedi. The Krath and Obelisk have slightly different origins, whereas the Sith were the descendants of the original outcast Dark Jedi. That essentially means of the three Orders the Sith have the largest claim to using the weapon of a Jedi than either of the other Orders (the Krath, being an offshoot of the Sith, do too I guess, but strictly speaking the Obelisk would actually probably not use lightsabers - at least not historically, as they're more an independent dark side cult than descendants of fallen Jedi Knights).

That taken, I suppose there is a valid argument too in saying that the Sith Empire used Sith Swords not lightsabers (because when the original Dark Jedi were outcast lightsabers hadn't been invented yet - at least according to everything but KOTOR2 which talks about ancient Sith Lords using lightsabers not Sith Swords).

Going even more outside the box than that there are other weapons that a Sith might use... a lightwhip perhaps. There are a few notable Sith that used lightwhips (all women oddly enough - I guess the authors were going for a dominatrix style). Also, despsite what people usually think, lightwhips aren't actually that special- Jedi occassionally used them, even during the Clone Wars- so they might be something to look at. I know there are thousands of light-type weapons on fan sites from light-sais to light-boomerangs but officially theres only really whips and sabers (I suppose you can do daggers too). When you go too far though it does start to become dumb, light-boomerangs, while maybe just a lightdagger on a curved bar, just seem rediculous.

Outside things like these I cant think of anything else that is specific to the Sith though... lightsabers really (at least red ones) are the most iconic Sith image available.

you know Goat has a good point, to set the sith apart from the rest, why not a light whip..or a light sai...those have my backing....

for both Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, as well as Battlefront II. As I mentioned before, I have Battlefront II on pre-order (I don't even have Episode II pre-ordered),

aint even have Episode 2 pre ordered? hehe...bit late aint it? :P

Anywho, about the Sith devide thingy, I think it's a bad Idea setting yourselfs fully appart from the other two. Another weapon for Sith would be ok I guess. But I feel the same option should be applied to krath and obelisk, only different styles ofcourse...

Ylith

1) I meant Episode III; it was a typo. Sue me. :P

2) This has nothing to do with setting the Sith "fully apart" from the other Orders, but I also do not adhere to, or believe in "every Order is the same." Every Order is equal, on some level, but they all have different tools, powers, methods, beliefs, etc. The common ground they have is, they all do it for the same reason -- the dominance of the Brotherhood. If that means I believe each Order should have differences, that means I think each Order, all of them, should have things that set them apart. If the Krath and Obelisk Order Leaders choose to do something on that level, that is their choice, and I believe they'd be willing to hear your opinions.

3) This is just a call for opinions. Don't read too much into it.

Kit fisto was one light Jedi who was a bit of a wizz with the ole light whips. It would be cool to have a range of weapons though, even if I would only stick with my sabre it'd be great to know the option exists to get a bit of variety.
