While it is unfortunate that OHC Khobai was unavailable for the majority of this discussion, I do not agree with you that he should make the final decision.
The MEMBERS of this group all had their say and we had a huge selection of rank names to pick from. Now, the vote will count, and the majority will carry the new name for the Obelisk ranks, as selected by the MEMBERS and not that old crackpot Wrathraven :P
I fully agree with Mejas, the choice is the members and the members alone. As much as I trust that Khobai would make an educated choice that would probably be universally favourable it is still the members decision.
What I will ask though...
Jac, on your final poll, are you going to just give the top ones, or are you going to 'mix and match'?
I'm finding it very hard to vote for the ranks as 'sets' as there are bits and pieces of good ones scattered about. For the final poll rather than just the top 2 of this poll I'd rather see 8 or so made up of different arrangements of the winning 2 entries from this poll...
For example, I'm quite favourable to the Centurion, Sentinel, Crusader, Templar one...BUT I don't really agree with Centurion being first, I'd rather see Sentinel or Crusader first, as Centurion sounds a bit big compared to Priest and Warrior.

Ok, having spoken to Khobai I see that he has a very different view of the Obelisk Order, and one that is actually pretty decent.
What I'd recommend is that we keep going the way we are, but let Khob's throw a couple of his own ideas into the final poll, and see what people think.
Then we can have it out on the Message Board to decide whether we go with Khobai's idea or these ideas :P
I told Zekk I didnt have a problem with people choosing which ranks they wanted to use for the Obelisk.
I do think I could have provided some better options than the ones in the current polls, but that's what happens when you go on vacation--you miss things :P

Centurion may sound rather fancy, but the Centurions were the commanders in the Roman army; essentially, the equivalent to Sith Commanders, perhaps a Quaestor. While I am not very particular about ranks, I think if we are going to use actual ranks, we should use them appropriately.
Well -- the thing that I've learned through all this is that no matter what you think are great ranks, there are a number of people who hate them. That's why voting is the best way.
Khobai sent me a list of ranks. I will be adding them to the next poll.

I have the same argument with Centurion myself.
The problem that people have to face, is not all the ranks are designed to sound absolutely wonderful. Priest and Warrior don't sound particuarly impressive, nor are they very original. Thats a point that people voting need to remember, for the Obelisk 1st Level Equite Rank needs to be similar and not one that dwarfs the other Orders.
Still, we'll see what Khobai has come up with, as they should be decent. I've always thought Marauder is a very suitable 1st Level Rank, and I have a feeling it might be one of Khobai's, so that should be good.
People are voting for what they like, not what's politically correct.
I somehow doubt every DB member knows (or cares) what a Centurion is. I knew when I suggested it, but it felt very fitting nonetheless.
You can't just keep adding more options and polling over and over. People have voted for what they like all the way through, and that's liable to continue.
If you don't care about what the people are voting for, why hold the poll?
I thnk that now that the OHC is back, that he should be allowed to come up with his own and or choose them himself.

Why not poll on individual rank names, then put all the possible orderings of the winning four ranks forward? Quick, simple, easy.
