MP trainers sought

After reviewing SA graduation stats, I am dissatisfied with the graduation rate from Phase 1 to Phase 2 (less than 50% of those who manage Phase 1 move on to become NOV, and in the gaming orders the rate is even lower).

As I know it's hard for APPs to find games on IRC, I would like to have a number of experienced Dark Jedi listed with email addresses right on the SA site that Apprentices can contact to schedule a match. I would like to have around five trainers per platform. CFs will be given to trainers at a rate of one per three training matches completed (regardless of who wins, so go easy on the new folks).

To be a trainer, you should know how to troubleshoot the game(s) you train people in and be available for play at different times so that APPs in many timezones have a chance of catching you, at least on weekends.

If you're interested in becoming a MP trainer, please drop me a mail with the platform(s) you want to train people on.

You know, call me crazy, call me sarcastic (might be more appropriate), but wouldn't that be a job for the Envoys? :P After all, it's their job to make sure the people get through the Shadow Academy. It might be nice to have a number of others for people to go to, but maybe the people who are Envoys need to have more direction, and be trained how to help out more fully? Particularly in the Sith and Obelisk gaming areas, that would seem like a great idea to me.

I must completely agree. No offense to my Envoy, but I have already completed Shadow Academy and he never contacted me. I think the problem may be Envoy's are waiting to be contacted when they should be contacting the new member. That way you feel welcome and want to perform.

The problem is not every Envoy is able to play every platform and in every timezone, so I am looking for a number of folks who are online a lot and willing to simply play when an APP needs it. This doesn't replace the Envoy system, it supplements it.

I totally agree with Kainaan, I think its a good way to get the ppl who know nothing abotu the games a great chance to get experience before they are allowed into a Clan/House.

Sithie, remember you knew really nothing about JK2 and I took you in and showed you what it was like and taught you all I know ;)

If I didnt then BF would be hopeless in any tourney.

Just my 2 cents ;)

Sorry guys, just thought of this right after I posted.

We could almost do this like the ACC where the New guy has to face the MP trainer who then of course deems him worthy or not. As well it would be there duty to train them till they felt tehy were good enough to get in.

Just a thought

The whole point of my comment was that no system is perfect. We have less to worry about with people like me who have been here for years, and who would just go back to whatever they did before (writing in my case) if they couldn't have figured it out. Apprentices will likely quit if they feel like it's just not worth it.

I think what I envisioned was the fact that the Envoys could work more as a cohesive group, to be the primary trainers (since that is their job). They shouldn't be unwilling to help each other out. The only thing that will do is cause dissent. Have the Envoys for each Order (particularly the Obelisk and Sith) work together to help each other out with their Apprentices gaming needs, and after that, then go to their respective Houses, or vice versa. Then come up with a backup group willing to be in #obelisk and/or #db to be there for Apprentice needs.

Or something along that line.

And Zekk? :P

I've already personally asked the Envoys to strongly consider being trainers as well ;-)

I still say part of what we need is a simple, web-based IRC client that new members can be linked to, that they can just put in their name and be sent to #DB, so that they can look for matches on IRC, as well. While people have had trouble finding JO matches in the past, I've already been working hard to eleviate that problem, and I have played a few matches and I have others willing to do so, as well.

Either way, I think easier access to IRC would help.
