Headmaster Report

Another one so soon?

Ok, this report is a bit brief and it comes fairly quickly after my last one, but there are some reasons for this. For one, I do need to get into/remain in the habit of doing these more frequently. Also, there’s some new information, which is always good.

Writer’s Corner

This is something that has, unfortunately, not been given the attention it deserves. I admit that this is partly my fault, but it has been the trend for some time. Well, we’re trying something new with the Writer’s Corner. We’ve simplified it a bit, and this will be tested for a month to see how it goes. Here’s a quick run down on how things are going to work:

•Anyone is still free to post; preferably new works, but competitions submissions are accepted.

•You can still earn Dark Side Scrolls for 10 pages worth of writing (see the original character counts to be more precise)

•In order to have your entry count towards those 10 pages, you must offer reviews and comments on at least 2 other submissions. Reviews should be constructive; comments meant to denigrate the other writer will be deleted and not counted. Reviews must be at least 1/3 of a page in MS Word. I will cut and paste your comments into MS Word, and remove spaces between the lines. You don’t reach 1/3 of a page, it won’t count.

•I will check the Writer’s Corner message board for records updating once a week (most likely on Fridays around noon). There is no time limit to offer reviews, so don’t feel that you have to get them done by a certain time (the sooner you do get them done, the sooner your page count becomes official is all)

Fictional Reality

The project is moving along quite well. In fact, just this past week, the Shadow Academy’s Order of Battle (actually part of the overall Antei Defense Force) has been finalized, Shadow Academy defenses (as the SA has a tendency to be a battle ground during GJWs) and the physical description of Lyspair were all completed (Lyspair's description was made from Kaiann’s original notes). The SA layout is almost done; in reality, it is merely tying up a few loose ends with that. There’s still a bit more to be done, but we’re on track.

I’d also like to thank the people who have volunteered to help with things in the SA. I try to find things for people to do, but I can’t always. But, those who have volunteered, I do appreciate it. Oh, and my next DV article has some more information on Fictional Reality

** New Courses**

One course has been approved by Jac. Look for it to be up and open to the public very soon. Another course is still pending approval. Also, there is an Shadow Academy poll on at the polling center. Make your voice (anonymous as it is in the poll) heard!

Semi-LoA

Starting today (Tuesday) and going through next Tuesday, I will be on a semi-leave of absence. I have two mid-terms this week that I’m studying for, and then Fall Break starts this Friday. I intend to take a break on fall break (interesting concept, I know). I’ll be going home this weekend, and while there, I will have my laptop, with internet access, but I will not have all my DB files with me (unless they are in my Gmail account). I will still be doing some DB stuff, but nothing “heavy.” I’ll still answer my e-mail; response time will just be down a bit.

Summary

• New Writer’s Corner instructions

• Fictional Reality moving along (see DV article)

• SA poll- go vote.

• Until next Tuesday, I’m on a semi-LoA
