Ludo Kressh Quaestor Report 30.11.06

When writing this I have for five reasons to be happy. firstly its Christmas in about three weeks, secondly its my 30th birthday in two weeks which I’m determined to be cheerful about, thirdly I’ve survived my first month as Quaestor of the best House in the Brotherhood, fourthly Ludo Kressh is winning the House Feud, and fifthly and most importantly I’m flying off on Saturday for a week of sun, sea and sangria in the Canary Islands.

That means that from the 2nd to the 9th HLK falls under the leadership of Xayun, the AED of HLK for anyone who doesn’t know him, which seems pretty unlikely given he’s in IRC more than X. Any general matters go to him, or for new member queries speak to Sin and Macron and they’ll be more than happy to help. Also again if anyone wants to be in a Battleteam we have the Jade Serpents under Ashia and Sapphire Squadron under Ylith. It’s worth doing, for new members you get that extra level of support and advice, and for everyone there’s competitions for you to win Crescents and work towards promotion.

On the subject of promotion congratulations to the following :

Tirano on promo to ACO

Tarion on promo to PRT

Ruluk on promo to JH

Coirn on promo to JH

Kilinus on promo to ACO

Congrats to all, keep working hard and the next rank beckons. Been chatting with several people this week on the subject of promotion and continued success in the brotherhood, some journeymen, some elders and a common view seems to come out. There’s some things you can do.

The first thing is being active, but pacing yourself and being active over a long period. If you come in, go crazy doing every exam available, game like hell, and then a few weeks or months later burn out or get bored and go inactive then you haven’t done yourself any good. Keep a good level of steady activity and you’ll find stuff like promotion and rewards happen from time to time.

Secondly, get to know the people around you, your Battleteam, your House, your Clan. Chat in IRC, post on the message boards, keep an eye out for runons. Firstly it gives you people to ask for help or advice. Secondly you’ll find out about stuff to do from them and get tips on . And thirdly you’ll become known yourself. When you apply for a position within the Clan or when we’re reviewing the roster to decide on promotion and rewards it’s a lot easier if we see your name and can put a face to it as it were (not literally but you know what I mean)

Thirdly, have fun. That’s what the Brotherhood is here for after all, enjoying yourself. Pick things that you like doing whether its gaming or writing or graphics, and do it. Don’t get hung up over how long it’s taking you to get promoted, don’t get involved in arguments and politics, just set out to relax and have fun. If you want to be here a long time it really helps.

Anyway, that’s all from me, I’ll be back in a week on Saturday. Keep an eye on the feud, do what you can in it, remember what I said about having fun and enjoying it.
