Obelisk Sergeant Report

"Soulfire: where we don't make mistakes, we just have happy accidents."

w00t

--IT'S A SOULFIRE THING, no one else would really understand--

Hullo gents and ladies (wait, we don't have any ladies...hence the need for some). This will be my second report as your

erstwhile Sergeant, and yes, it is quite late. I blame the holidays, the lack of confluence of my own needs and desires, as

well as the general decline of western civilization. There have been a few changes that have taken place in that time, both

within our own group, as well as in the whole of the Dark Brotherhood. Some good, some not quite as great, but stick with me as

I try to relay most of the pertinent stuff to you in as brief a fashion as I can muster.

--=NEWS BLAST=--

Ok, let's start from the top. Nothing new in the Dark Council that I can think of. All the same members are still in place.

Society Leader/Tribune-wise, Erinyes is having some unfortunate computer issues, Khobai has resigned from the post of GMRG CoG

and Dalthid got himself rightfully elevated to Dark Jedi Master for running an active and varied Antei Combat Centre. The GMRG

is going through an evolution at present, spearheaded in large part by our reigning Deputy Grand Master, Aristan Dantes. Oh,

Muz has released a number of new sabers and robe sets, including some that are society-based. Check 'em out, since they are

kind and gentle...and pretty. A document has also recently been published that details much of the inner-workings of the Antei

System. This will no doubt be valuable to fictional creators as a solid reference guide. Don't cheat in the Shadow Academy,

hail Brujah as new ACC DCM, praise Lucius for the new JA server and swoop racing, and keep in mind that gaming days now rotate

weekly between Tuesday/Thursday and Monday/Wednesday/Friday.

Arcona/Galeres-wise, Dark Jedi Master and former Arcona Consul Mejas Doto has been making his presence felt once more. Read his

stuff and take what you can from what he says. There is much truth within. Odin has decided to leave Arcona at least for a time

and return to his former home of Clan Tarentum. Wish him well if you run into him, as he'll be missed. Work has been ongoing

for an epic Clan Feud between Arcona and Scholae. Prepare yourselves and let's be sure that Soulfire answers the call and leads

the charge to victory!

On the Soulfire front, our beloved Karel Bruth`Kothae has also moved over to Tarentum to rekindle old allegiances with his

former Clan. He will be sorely missed, but not forgotten, since he will doubtless be a frequent and honored guest on IRC. Many

many thanks, both from myself and on behalf of Selene and Koskian for all your help with oh so many things over these past

months. A hearty "welcome back" is to be issued to Guardian Kieran (Scar) and Krath Archpriest Ethran Sayre Isradia (Esca),

both of whom have recently returned to the sanctuary of the Soulfire Strike Team. Esca has taken the initiative to churn out a

wiki for Soulfire, which can be viewed in all its preliminary glory here. I'll be updating this soon, as well as

opening up the floor for some active participation by members to add in certain aspects of the content.

--=ROSTER=--

Here's a quick peek at where we are right now as far as membership is concerned:

--=COMPETITIONS=--

The "bunny" comp is the big focus right now, as it has been serving to both invigorate and frustrate members. If you haven't

tried it yet, please do so. If only I knew how to code in Flash, I'd work on a "stab the bunny" game. Stay and/or get active in

MP gaming as well, since there is still a comp running in Soulfire for that. Everything you can learn about being a better

gamer will help in the feuds coming up. There may be a slackening off of comps for a bit, as we prepare for the upcoming feuds.

Some small stuff will be coming out soon. Easy ways to win medals and show how sexy you are. Ongoing gratitude to our Quaestor,

Selene d'Tana, for creating and maintaining this helpful list!

--=ACTIVITY=--

I'm seeing some quite good gaming accolades handed out to several of you guys. Everyone has been on IRC at least a few times in

the past month, which is quite excellent. There is always more that can be done though. Gaming nights/events occur at least

four times per week. Great chances to learn, grow and win medals. SF FTW is the mantra, so get out there and compete! No one

can win every single time. Don't let losses hold you down, learn from mistakes and try try again. ACC is always there for the

taking. Challenge random people, or better yet, people you talk to on IRC. Create a wiki. Build out your Character Sheet or

Character History. Do some sexy graphics. Check out the above-listed competitions and submit your best efforts. Sending and

responding to e-mails, posting on the forums...the possibilities are nearly endless.

Once again, congrats to Zandro Savric Erinos (CC) for great gaming efforts over the past month, what with ICTE placings and

all. Karel is no longer with us, but also put up a number of great showings, as has Sashar (Dash) and Rho! Dash and Rho ran

away with my Collective Nouns comp, but take heart everyone else, there will be more of these in the future. Rho ran an

excellent poetry comp recently for Galeres, and I hope that he will want to try something similar just for Soulfire.

Am I happy with the current level of activity? Yes and no. I'll probably never be completely happy since I know what you guys

are capable of. Just seeing everyone on IRC brings a smile to my face, so I'll never dispute that you all make me proud to be

part of such a concerned and involved grouping of Dark Jedi.

--=CLOSING ARGUMENTS=--

I'd like to share with you all some things that came out of a recent conversation that I had with Esca. Just some stuff that

seems rather appropriate, indicative of Soulfire and report-worthy:

Soulfire: The driving force of Arcona - where the best people are cultivated and instilled with pride and wisdom for them to

flourish and enrich the whole of the Clan. Leading the charge against CSP next month and elevating Arcona to a GJW win a few

months after that. Primary two goals.

Yep, that's pretty much it, folks. We all had and still have the chance to live anywhere that we want in the DB, but we opted

to dwell here. I can't see any reason why we shouldn't make the most of that time by being active, being uber and showing other

Battleteams what it's all about. Do it for yourself, if you want. Do it for Galeres or Arcona, if that's your fancy. But above

all else, do it for Soulfire. None of us needs to be here, but we all want to be. Stand up, be proud, do your best and show off

how great you are. Every single one of you has earned the right. All you have to do is be yourselves and represent.

Last, but far from least, please toss any feedback my way. How I'm doing, things you want introduced or changed, people you'd

really like to see in Soulfire. On the last point, I've got my eye on a few people, but it's just a matter of how to work out

the logistics. Keep in mind: I don't want to be part of the largest BT, just the most active. You guys should all feel the

same. Activity breeds camaraderie, which breeds trust, which breeds excellence. The sky is truly the limit.
