Justicar Report

Two reports for the price of one! I post updates on the CoJ website, but I want to have them archived so I'll occasionally post them as official reports too - sorry they're pretty boring!

Another Update

(3/23/2007 2:20:28 PM)

Another quick update for everyone (so you know the JST isn't just sitting around looking pretty).

No cases have originated in the past week

Several minor complaints have been dealt with

One investigation completed, no merit for case

Mostly I've been helping with the RoS - mostly by sorting out complaints and grading. The DB Judicial Certification Course for the Shadow Academy is being coded as we speak, so that should be up soon.

That's all for now,

*Quick Update *

(3/11/2007 3:40:12 PM)

I haven't posted any news in about a week, so just a quick update from me.

-The last two weeks have brought no major judicial action, only a few small complaints that were mediated.

-An SA course for DB Judicial Certification has been written, submitted, and approved by yours truly. It is currently being coded for the SA site and should be up and running soon.

That's it for now, yay for good DB behavior!

It appears I need to start putting in some more time on IRC so you have more to do.

Does being certifiable and having been on CoJ pass one on this exam of yours?

There's a CoJ exam?!
/me runs to the SA!

Hey Kir, I bet I could generate a lot of complaints for you :P

I'll add my name to any list of those interested in what the "DB Certification" Test will be used for, why it's necessary, and if having been on the CoJ previously equates to that certification. I'm just curious to know what it's about. Thanks much.

This course will allow its alumni to frame and display their degree--and thus, their status as a 'legal expert'--in their office. Always important to intimidate potential clients. "Yes, these 'degrees' make me a lawyer. Nevermind that I talk out of my excretory orifice most of the time."

The DB Juidicial Certification Course will do exactly what it says - certify members to serve in the DB's judiciary. Passing it will be required for anyone who wants to apply to any CoJ position (JST, HoJs, Appeals Panel). It's a bit more involved then your typical SA course, and many people will find it challenging.

It is necessary because most people who obtain a CoJ position have little or no experience with how the DB's judiciary works. This means that every time new HoJs are chosen, there is a pretty long learning-period in which they learn exactly what their position entails and how the process itself works. In addition, our membership is generally pretty well-behaved, so trials are fairly rare - some HoJs go through their entire 6-month term without participating in one. This course will introduce all the important judicial knowledge that CoJ members should have, as well as the resources where they can find answers - and therefore enhance the quality of incoming CoJers.

As for having been on the CoJ previously...I haven't decided on that yet, but right now I'm leaning towards everyone has to take it, regardless of past position. I say that because I know some HoJs who really didn't have to do much of anything during their term, it just worked out that way. Others had maybe one trial during their term...so they just got their toes wet. By requiring everyone to take the course, we'll at least have a basic level of knowledge we can assume everyone who passes it has obtained. But like I said, I haven't determined that yet.
