Consul Report

Members of Scholae Palatinae:

I've noticed a disturbing trend in the Operational Procedures of our Clan recently and I wholly blame myself. I pride myself in my ability to provide perfection in our day-to-day Administrative Duties, but the seams have begun to unravel in the face of sustaining maximum effort in the face of the Rite of Supremacy (RoS). And, in the face of deciding between personal achievement and the greater good... I have decided to take a more reserved approach on the front of the war; entrusting you, the members, to chip in additional effort in our success.

I have always demanded that my personal activity remain high to serve as a role model for each of you, but it has become apparent to me that there are lots of role models in this Clan. And I want to congratulate you all on coming so far, so fast since my joining over a year ago. What was, once, a Clan established on the shoulders of a few giants has now become the Clan established by its members, for its members and through the determination and excellence of its members. Each of you are to be applauded!

Does this mean your Consul won't be participating? No way! I will just be dominating events that I am either naturally skilled at (ACC, Writing, etc) or thoroughly enjoy (BF2, RC, etc). And I encourage each of you to determine, through the course of the RoS, what events and topics you hope to achieve GJW success in.

Okay, enough about your Consul and his gushing about how you all have grown into a powerhouse in the Dark Brotherhood... ON TO THE REPORT!

Rite of Supremacy: Second Darkness

Scholae Palatinae has established itself, regardless of opposing Clan's comments, as a newfound powerhouse within the halls of the Dark Brotherhood. In fact, we have not experienced this level of success since the Independence Games of 2005 where the Clan finished Second Overall. And I will briefly explain the levels of our success in the five fields presented by the Grand Master & Co. as we progress through this section.

MP Gaming

The current scoring system is ingenious and I applaud whomever claims responsibility for its conception, design and utilization as it fairly rewards skill, but promotes participation. And, if you had not heard, activity is the lifeblood of any club. With that said, we have been an extremely active Clan on many fronts and we are in the top two of every Bracket (six in total) giving us an edge over long time juggernaut Clan Taldryan. Congratulations to the gamers!

Battle Plan

I must astutely applaud Phoenix & Thran for their efforts in the Round 1 Battle Plan (BP) as they led us to first round success purely on their strategy and ingenuity with the scenario presented. They are already hard at work on Round 2 and are expecting to add new elements to help vault their score and CSP into the third, and final, round.

Antei Combat Center

This is an event that Rasilvenaira & Selene have done a great job of keeping you informed about. As these ladies have pointed out (several times) the key to success in this event is managing your post time (48 hours) and keeping track of your challenges (incoming & outgoing). This is a medium that recognizes winning as the best feat, losing as a good feat and gives no mercy against those whom timeout their battles. With that said, if you are participating do your best to ensure you do not time out!

Debate Event

This is an event that I found as a paradox. I am not creating excuses for Our Clan falling short of advancing to the second round; however, I will state that an unusual set of misunderstandings and a misinterpretation on what the Judges thought they were seeking created an imbalance in the scoring (my honest opinion). No one is to blame for this fault (on either side) and I chalk this up as a learning experience for both event coordinators and event participants. Once the Forums are unlocked for your viewing pleasure, I encourage each of you to see the detailed arguments of Thran Occasus and Nathaniel as they debated and refuted their opponent: Naga Sadow.

Fiction

Round 1 has closed with adventurers on the shores of Lake Natth with a holocron and explicit instructions on their next advancement within the story. This is a great opportunity to take some leeway in your character development, score individual RoS points and help the Clan. This event will be won through exceptional writing AND excellent participation from the Clan as a whole. It is an event that can be swarmed with entries of medium or near-substantial scores and overcome a smaller group of talented writers (read: Taldryan).

Conclusion

We are doing an admirable job in our events, but I encourage each of you to take a more aggressive nature to participation in this event. The be all, end all of this event is that it will stage us for the Great Jedi War and give us the rightful bragging rights of our successes as a group! But do not take it for granted, the five other Clans are not going to roll over and let us walk to a top position (well... Plagueis and Naga Sadow might).

Clan Projects

All Clan Projects are currently on hold until the conclusion of the Rite of Supremacy. If you are interested in signing up or enlisting to help the Clan Summit with these tasks, please contact me privately to discuss.

Operational Changes

I will briefly list some Operational Standards that have come into effect after discussions in Conclave, the Leadership Channel and some reflection between Phoenix, Selene and I.

New Member E-mails. Each time a new member joins the ranks of our Clan, you will be notified via a short welcoming e-mail upon which you will have the new members name, House and Order.

Updated Promotion Guidelines. Selene, Rasilvenaira & Zeron have presented a new Promotion Guidelines rundown to Phoenix and I. We have made some minor changes and will be taking it to the Grand Master, Deputy Grand Master and Master At Arms at the conclusion of the RoS for 'Approval.'

Dark Council Report Notifications. Not every member, every time, reads the reports issued by the members of the Dark Council. To draw more attention to these reports and withdraw the important information pertaining to major changes or our own members.

Monthly Checklists. Phoenix and I will be issuing Weekly Checklists (after we hammer some stuff out) to ensure that your Leadership team is delivering their maximum effort on a regular basis to you, the members.

Clan Mission Statement. Pontifex Cuchulain has scribed an amazing document that, once it is posted, will be the cornerstone of our Clan Identity. Many kudos to him on the completion of this long awaited document. It will be the future of Scholae Palatinae.

THE FIN

You guys are amazing! Seriously. If it was not for the maturity and determination of each and every member, I could not sustain the drive that allows me to be a Consul. Each day I have the opportunity to engage you on IRC (#scholae or Private Messages), the Message Boards & E-mail (Chains or Private). It is the friendships that I have established that make me come back each day with renewed vitality and anticipation to work towards a better Clan.

I am, your servant,
