Report, Jade Serpents, 4/11/2007

_Sai entered his office, the electroluminescent lights automatically switching on as he crossed the threshold. Settling into his chair, he was greeted by its usual creaks and groans, and he made a mental note, as he always did, to look into getting it replaced.

He took his calligraphy kit from the desk’s side drawer, along with a clean scroll of paper. After unfurling it across his desk, Sai selected a brush, dipped its bristles into the inkwell, and began to write:_

Let’s get competin’, and get some shiny’s!! There’s plenty to do, from Trivia, to Gaming, to Fiction and Run-Ons! Get to it!

Ink Blotches:

I’d like to take this time to congratulate, and thank, Epis Shin’ichi Endymiron Keibatsu on his outstanding level of participation. As you read, he got quite a few awards for participation and mentorship in the past week; it’s this level of activity that will get you all recognized and bring us to the level I expect us to be: elite!

Unfortunately, this may probably be the last Jade Serpents’ report most of you will read, as there’s an AWOL check currently being run by the Aedile, due to expire on the 16th. I really hate to lose members, but at the same time, the business of the Battle Team must carry on. There’s a lot at stake with the upcoming GJW, and I for one refuse to contribute to anything less than excellence. I know that a few of you intend to be a part of this Team, but if you’d be so kind as to send me and the Aedile a short message stating so, I’d be really appreciative. Moving on...

I’d like to take a few lines to talk about Character Development. I know some of you would rather Game and only Game, and that’s perfectly fine. As long as you’re active, that’s my stance! But, for those of you (like me) who prefer to write, whether it’s fictions, run-ons, or ACC, the development of your Character is crucial, to both good (read: award winning) writing and overall enjoyment. It’s so exciting to give “life” to a character, and to see them mature as they are rewarded and promoted within the Club, in my opinion. Further, during those lean times when run-on and fiction comps are scarce, the ACC is always ongoing! As a Judge, I can tell you that the staff loves to see character development, as it makes for great storytelling. Here’s an example of two of your Teammates doing just that:

This was during the time when I was a Protector, but it set the stage for so much that’s happened with my character since then. It certainly made it easier for me to come up with material for my writing as time went on, all of which made the awards and promotions all the sweeter!

Along with submitting to the Dark Voice this month, Shin has also taken up my “invitation” for training sessions within the ACC. The challenge is currently in the ACC Queue, so keep a look out for it; you can believe that there’ll be some violence and character development afoot! Also, there’s definitely a run-on in the works, either a joint project between us and the Sapphire Squadron, or something on the House/Clan level. Keep those eyes open, Serpents, and I look forward to writing about more of your accomplishments in the next report!
