Consul Report #13

June 2, 2007

<-

_Aabsdu stood at the door, not sure rather he should enter or not. He'd been through this door countless number of times, ever since it had been occupied by the now Grand Master Dantes. He'd even walked through it to an empty room before, one waiting for him to take a seat. It had been a while, though, since he had walked through the door into the Consul's office in the Dark Tower.

Finally, he waved his hand slightly, causing the door to slide off the side. Inside there wasn't very much left, Bubba has cleared away most of his belongings. Some pictures were remaining, along with what looked like left over food. The Battlelord quickly through it out the door and called for a Novice to come clean it up. He walked behind the large, dark ivory desk. When he was Consul the first time he had replaced the metal desk with a more organic one, for various reasons. First, it was cooler. Second, it smelled better. Third, it was cooler.

He took a seat in the large chair, relaxing as he remembered how comfortable it was. He smiled a wide smile and gave a little laugh, although for what reason he wasn't sure._

Welcome!

Congratulations for making it with me to my second/thirteenth Consul Report. This report will have a bit more news in it then my last one did, since now I'm gotten resettled in to my office, thrown out all of Bubba's stuff, and am ready to rock and roll.

Btw, I'm going to try and do the little in-character thing in all of my reports, just because they are so utterly awesome and cool :P And yes, I'm aware this report is ultra super long, but believe me you'll enjoy reading, so continue on!

The Prequels - War Glory

First of all, I'd like to say something about the upcoming Great Jedi War. I look at the clan roster and see a lot of people who are oh-so close to a nice promotion, or at least a major merit award. There are at least four people currently in the clan who only need a little extra push for that promotion, and I'm here to say that the Great Jedi War in July is that push. I won't say any names, but I will say that there are a good number of you out there, especially Dark Jedi Knights, who may very well earn a nice promotion if you are active enough in the Great Jedi War. Now, by active I don't mean play a few gaming matches. I mean participate in as many events as you can. If you do so, then chances on we'll be able to get a promotion. Of course, I'm making no promises, just saying that there are a lot of you out there that are very close.

Wtf Happened to Aerun!?!?

As those of you who use the DJBWiki may have noticed, the article on HEK's planet of Aerun is currently empty save for the picture and infobox. This was done due to what Sarin deemed as plaguarised material, just like in the Aerunian article, which is also under investigation. We took down the content for the planet at Sarin request, but don't worry, something big is currently in the work.

Antei Post

In this section I will talk about news related to the Brotherhood that has happened in the past week. Usually I get this stuff straight off the news page, so most of it you have probably read already. Either way, I'm putting it here, so enjoy it :P

Congrats to Derev on being named the new Dark Voice Tribune. Already he has great ideas, and has even taken on our own Dismal as one of his staff members, strange as it is. He has two new competitions running, and some great plans under way. Canis, the Dark Side Compendium Tribune, is also getting back to activity and has one project that is almost finished, but even I don't know anything about that, so I'm just as much in the dark as you all are.

Finally, all custom requests to the Herald's office are more or less on hold while Kaine gets caught up on things. Sabers and warbanners are still being handled by his Praetor/Magistrate, though. Also, a new Shadow Academy course, Dark Brotherhood Basics, was released this past week. It isn't too hard, especially for those who have been here a year or two. When I took it, I think I managed to answer all but like three of the questions just off the top of my head, and the three I had to look up were ones about our history. Either way, it's a nice course not only to refresh you on the DB, but also teach you some new stuff, possibly. It doesn't take too much time, either, so that's nice.

Wow. As usual, there has been quite a lot of Star Wars new going around lately. Which, while I'm on the subject, is what this little section will feature. While Kaine's Herald reports will have Star Wars new, my Consul repots will also have some stuff, although most of it will just be the big news.

The biggest news this week, though, is probably the trailer released for the fall 2008 Clone Wars 3-D TV series. I for one think it looks awesome, much like the cartoon show, which I loved, but better. The trailer can be found here, although for some reason my computer won't play it from this website. If you also have this problem, then you can do like me and watch the same trailer on.. none other then... YouTube!

This past Monday the History Channel showed two Star Wars special. The first, Star Wars Tech, talked about how much of the technology in the movies are actually plausible. Some of them, like a beam of plasma energy, is possibly (although the beam would have to be thousands of degrees hot in order to cut through anything), but others, like cars flying through the air without any tracks, could only occur if some force opposite to gravity exsisted.

The second show, Legacy Revealed, talked about the mythical, philosophical, and moral references in the movies. From religious references to military ones, it does make you wonder how much of it Mr. Lucas actually did on purpose. Very interesting show.

The new Legacy of the Force book, Sacrifice, was also released this past week. This whole series is on my Need to Buy list, but I haven't gotten around to doing it. Still, it looks pretty awesome, especially since apparently a major character dies. I don't know who, but I can sure tell you who my bets would be on ;)

The Local Scene

Congrats out to some of our awesome members this past week. Julius Caesar, most of you know him as the Cafe di Plagia DJ, was promoted to Obelisk Templar after nine months of dedicated service as a Dark Jedi Knight. House Exar Kun Quaestor Royal was also awarded an Anteian Cross for his leadership work over the past few months. Former Consul BubbaX was awarded a Steel Cross for his work as Quaestor, Proconsul, Consul, and Super Coder. House Exar Kun Aedile Jagan was also awarded a Dark Cross for his great work in the past few weeks, and the same house's Envoy Dismal was awarded the same award for his work with our journeymen, and Wuntila was awarded yet another Dark Cross (so many of these flying around lately) for work as battleteam leader.

Also a big welcome to Baron Zarco and Al'Meda who joined House Satal Keto this week. These guys are big into fiction and the ACC, so let's join them in our rally for the Great Jedi War!

June To-Do List

Now, if you recall from my last report I talked about how most projects are pretty much put on hold until after the Great Jedi War. For the most part, this is true. However this doesn't stop us from preparing for these projects, and in some cases starting them. One of the projects is to get all of the pages in the Clan Plagueis Category on the DJBWiki up to date. Recently, Jagan created this awesome table that the leaders will be using to work on these articles. However, we can't do it all by ourselves.

That's why I'm extending this offer to all those who wish to take it. I am currently looking for people to help with our Wiki articles! Jobs include finding pictures to use, writing history, and more. There are also some simple format edits to make and summaries to write, so there's something for everyone. While I can't promise awards to those who do just one or two things, I can say that to those that help me with these articles it is likely that you will be compensated. If you're interested, please contact Scorpius and I.

Some other things I'd like to get done this month is a quick clan AWOL check. What's going to happen is we will run an AWOL check twice a year, in June and December. For most of you, though, you don't need to worry about this one. This June check is only targeted, for the most part, towards those APP-JH who we haven't heard from in a while. The lists have been given to me, and I'm currently getting ready to send it off to Kraval and tol get those people removed. We aren't just removing everyone, though. There are some people who I know were once active, and I will keep them just in case they come back. The only ones who are in trouble are those that joined and never did anything, or just did some stuff for like a week and then left.

The Clan Plagueis Shadow Academy course was written and finished a long time ago, and is currently in that stage where Sarin and Muz look at it and give comments. I don't know when it might be completely finished, but it won't be too long from now. Also, before anyong starts asking, the EP for the exam has already been picked, although for those of you interested in an EP position that currently is a course that I'm working on that is in need of one, so if you're willing to help me write the course, then I would be inclined to give you the course's grading rights.

The last thing that'll probably happen in June is I will sit down and write up some ideas for the Clan Powers and Clan Possessions. Most likely I'll just write up some ideas, and then after the war I'll start getting input from the other leaders, as well as, of course, you the members.

A reminder about all of the competitions that are currently running. This includes gaming, which occurs as always, the monthly topics for those fiction writers out there, plus Summer School for those of you trying to pass every single SA course. There's also my three competitions that award members monthly for CFs earned, SA courses passed, and ACC battles fought. All three of those start this month. Finally, Plagueis Trivia also starts this month. I'll try and get some questions to run it twice this month, just to have some fun.

Most important of all, though, is to remember that the Great Jedi War is coming up in July, so mark your calendars (and try not to schedule any long trips)! I am confident we can repeat our Rite of Supremacy success and pull away with another 4th or 3rd place finish. It just takes dedication and hard work from all of us, not just you guys, but myself and the rest of the leaders here. I hope that we'll all pitch in. In March Clan Plagueis showed that it can be a powerhouse clan, so now let's go out there and give them some pay back for all that back talk they're always saying about us!

That's it for this report. As I promised, there was a lot more stuff in this one. As always, I want to make sure that all of you guys keep and strong connection with me and what I'm doing. I want to keep you guys informed with what's happening. One idea I have is to start using the voting system on the website a lot more, not just for elections, so expect news on that soon.

I would like to run Clan Plagueis as a, pardon the oxymoron, democratic dictatorship. Since we're all Dark Jedi, final decision rests with me and the leaders, but I want to make sure that all of you guys have a say to. After all, in the end we're all here to have fun, and it's my job to make sure that you all have that. If you ever need anything, never hesitate to ask me on IRC or through email. You'll find I can be quite useful wink

Oh, one last thing. If you ever think of any ideas for the clan or, more specifically, for stuff I should include in my reports, then please tell me. I'm always looking for ways to improve my reports. This report has a whole lot of new stuff, as you might have noticed if you ever read my old Consul reports. We're also always looking for competition ideas and just plain ideas, so as usual never be afraid to email your leaders about something.
