Combat Master Report

Brand New CM

As most people will have noticed by now, there is a new Combat Master in place (me :P). Dalthid had some work/military-related things drop into his lap that will take him away from the DB for a few months at least. As there was no replacement-in-training, and the learning curve to be CM being quite high, I was asked to come in and take over. I was DCM for almost 2 and a half years, much of that time under Dalthid. While there have been some changes while I've been away, I'm quickly getting caught up on everything. Although he'll be staying on as DCM until he needs to leave, I would just like to thank Dalthid now for all of his time as CM. He has put an enourmous amount of time and effort into making the ACC what it is. He does it for the enjoyment of others, and not for his own personal benefit. There are very, very few in the DB who has equaled his contribution to the club as a whole

Handedness Skills

One of the "new" rules introduced a couple of weeks ago, this is one that will prove to be extremely important. Right now, battles are done under the "old" format of dual-handedness and weapon skill. However, beginning on July 1, all battles will fall under this new rule. You can find the initial explanation of it in a past CM report here, as well as on the ACC compendium here. If you would like an example of how to "format" it properly, look at the following examples:

One Hand Only

Dual-hands

Anyone who doesn't update their CS properly come July and beyond, it is assumed that your hand-stats are 1/0 (meaning a 1 in strong-hand, and 0 in off-hand). As you can see, that could prove to be bad for your character. An extra 4 points have been added to everyone's CS to help with this rule. That would explain why many of you may have recently noticed more skill points to use. Down the road we hope to have these points coded in much like the weapons, but for the time being continue to use the custom slots. Feel free to ask me any questions about it.

GJW

After talking with Sarin and Muz, there will be an ACC portion in the upcoming GJW. It will be slightly different than the "usual", but should still be fun for everyone who enjoys the ACC. I will be outlining the rules and hammering out the details this week so that'll it'll jive with the rest of the competition. Also, to compete in an ACC event for any DB-wide competition, including the GJW, you must be qualified. We no longer allowed un-qualified members to participate. A heads-up to anyone wishing to participate in the future but not yet qualified.

PCHL

The Piloting Championship has begun. I wish everyone participating the best of luck. As the ladder is smaller than usual, it will hopefully be finished up before the start of the GJW.

Other Competitions

Another CHL will be run, but we're looking at it taking place after the GJW, as we don't have the necessary time to run it right now. That being said, the upcoming CHL will be the "last" one to name a Champion. There will then be a competition between the 4 Champions to determine who challenges Dalthid for the title of Supreme Champion. As such, anyone wishing to vie for this title had better compete in the next CHL.

Another ACCLive! ladder will also be run after the GJW. Although ACCLive! is no longer a "regular" platform, we will continue to offer it on a regular basis in the form of ladders. A good way to earn those shinies and try your writing hand out on something a bit different

Although this has been talked about for awhile, I am hoping to run a Co-Op competition at some point as well. Once again, this will be done after the GJW. A preliminary plot had been completed, but with various other competitions and events happening, nothing was run. With some touch-ups, we should still be able to get this out to everyone.

Staff

We've had a few staff updates since I've taken over. Shikyo, the former Live! administrator has declined to try his hand at judge and focus instead on his other duties. We wish him the best of luck. Following that, we welcome a brand new staff member in the form of the MAA, Kraval. We also have another member currently in the "training" process. Any wishing to ever apply for an ACC "job", please visit this page and have a look to see what the application process is like.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the current staff for their continued hard work and dedication. Being on the staff isn't "easy" and does take up a lot of time. However, without the staff then the ACC could not function. It just cannot be run by one or two people.

Closing

That's it for this week. If anyone ever has any questions or comments for me, the best place to reach me is through e-mail at [Log in to view e-mail addresses]. You can also ask general questions about the ACC on this forum post. Have a great week.

Yay Halc! :)

WB Halc! also, what happens if you have a qual battles in progress when the War starts?

Normally during competitions such as the RoS and GJW, things slow down or shut-down completely. All staff members are in Clans, so asking them to basically stop helping their Clans and do "work" isn't really fair in any way :P So I urge anyone who wants to qualify to do so before and be patient. The staff have lives as well :P
