Lots and Lots of info in this report.

As with the rest of the DB, the SA has a lot of fictional ground to cover in response to the events of the GJW. We’re working on it as we can, and everything will be brought up to date as quickly as possible. I’ll make certain to update wiki articles, or create new ones, as needed for everyone’s reference. The good thing is that I’ve already got ideas of what I want to do; it’s just a matter of getting around to it. Speaking of wiki articles, big thanks to Mav for creating this useful wiki article

Trivia Coming Back

That’s right. Now that the GJW is over, trivia will be back. Kalak is still heading it up, though he had to get replacements for this weekend. There will be IRC trivia in #shadowacademy at 11:00 am EDT (the host for this weekend is DarkAmiz, who lives +8 GMT; EDT is -4 GMT, and DarkAmiz said he was doing it at 11:00 pm his time). A message board event is being hosted by Niemand; check the Shadow Academy message board for those questions. Remember, you can only do one of the events, but your name will get on the participation list even if you don’t win.

New Courses, Old Courses, and Changes

The ISET and ESET have been removed from the SA, since the new starfighters course was added to the course offerings. The ISET and ESET were holdovers from the EH days, back when the ships were divided much more along Rebel/Imperial lines. Well, the DB isn’t like that, and it was easier to just write one new course than to edit two of them.

The ACC Initiates Course has been updated. This included changes to the notes and the revision or replacement of several of the questions. The new course covers some of the more recent changes at the ACC. Sith Alchemy has also received some updates including pictures. If you look at Pre-Republic History and Alchemy, you’ll get a good idea of what we’re going to try to do for every SA course possible.

As for other new courses, there are two in the works right now: a ground vehicles course and an Old Republic history course. Other courses may be forthcoming as we need them, or the membership wants them. Of course, we generally don’t write all the courses ourselves. Interested members write them for us.

New Ship, New Home

If you’ve read the fiction piece I posted, then you should already know that the Shadow Academy is located on the Khyron-class Dreadnaught Arcanum. So, yeah, I ride around in that thing… don’t piss me off :P.

HM hosted Competitions

Because of the GJW, I’m holding off on having another “1000th course passed” competition. The EPs need a break and I don’t have any new courses at this time (I always try to have a new course out for these events so everyone in the DB has a chance).

Murder Mystery League: In October and early November, I will be hosting a murder mystery league event. Those of you who have been around long enough might remember when Alanna ran these as KHP. I’ll send out more information to the Consuls and Proconsuls as we get closer to the event, but this should be a fun event for everyone who wants to participate.

Open EP Positions

I put this last so that hopefully people looking for the jobs at least skimmed the first part. I’m in need of new EPs for AOL Instant Messenger and History of the Sith Empire III. The requirements are as follows:

1. Have passed the course before I posted this notice. You may apply for more than one of the positions if you wish.

2. Provide an answer key to the exam (or exams) you are applying for.

3. Identify one thing you like about the course(s) and one thing that you think needs to be improved.

4. Have an average e-mail turn around time of no more than 48 hours

5. Keep in mind that an EP position isn’t going to be a sudden shot into fame; however, Vodo did make this comment to me, so I share it now with you: I believe that act of taking responsibility of the course enabled me to put forth the courage to seek a Battleteam, and now my current position as AED of House Ektrosis.

6. E-mail applications to myself and my praetor by September 6.

Conclusion

Before the concluding remarks, some advanced notice: I will be on an 80% LoA from September 16-22 because of work. I’ll still check my e-mail, but Dacien (BubbaX) will have the run of the SA that week. Other than that, and what was mentioned above, we’re just moving along here at the SA. Things are changing and I hope that you like what we’re doing. As always, you can catch me on IRC or send me an e-mail with any questions or comments.

Unfortunately, because of work, I don’t get to go to DragonCon. Still, isn’t it scary that Muz is, or will be, about a 20 minute drive from my house? Well, actually, that depends entirely upon Atlanta traffic. . . :P

Oh, and September 1 (tomorrow) marks my 8th year anniversary in the DB. Yeah, I’m old in the DB. But not as old as some of the others.
