Quaestor Report

BOW

Hello and welcome to another Quaestor report! Another quiet week has passed, but things are picking up. I saw quite a few Shadow Academy courses, medals, and promotions come across my desk this week(See Frosty's report for a full breakdown on those). As I said in my last report, I've been spending most of my time lately pulling ungodly amount of overtime at work, September is our busiest time with yesterday(NFL kickoff) being our Christmas. It was totally insane, but I think things are going to slow down a bit now and I should have some extra time to devote to Gladius since I've gotten pulled off the call floor for next-level support training. Hopefully, I won't be expected to pull mandatory overtime shifts for the next couple weeks as I train for my new position.

First important item I'd like to cover this week is gaming platforms. I've spoken at length with both Frosty and Bloodfyre and we've all come to agreement that the current games this club supports are a little antiquated. With that in mind, I've gotten permission from Bloodfyre to host competitions using non-supported platforms, so I need you guys to tell me what games you own that you'd like to compete with in House competitions. I'm willing to use just about any multi-player game as long as a majority of people in the House have the game.

You can suggest any game you want and any number of games you want. I'll go ahead now and let you guys know what my primary platforms of interest are, if you have WarCraft III or Neverwinter Nights 1 or 2, be sure to let me know. Also, with WC3 include whether or not you have The Frozen Throne. I know NWN isn't a competitive game, but it can be worked into House as a form of activity. If enough people have it I can set up a server for cooperative play in the game and track your statistics for participation and such.

Another idea I had was to use one of the many free MMORPG games that are around the internet as a means for activity. Currently I'm looking into a few titles, including Fly For Fun, Tales of Pirates, Dungeon Runners, and a few others. If you know of a great free to download/free to play MMORPG please let me know and I'll throw it onto my list for testing as well. What I'm really looking for is a game that is fun and has an easy learning curve so that everyone can learn to play it easily, not just those of us that are MMO veterans.

Another idea that's on deck is a regular Gladius run-on competition. I had Rekio set us up a special forum on Tarentum.org for just this purpose. Each run-on will likely run for 2 weeks with a week off in between each one to come up with the plot for the next one. If you're interested in joining an unofficial panel in the House that'll brainstorm and develop the plots for each run-on's seed post please contact me.

That's about all on the Gladius front this week, things are starting to move along a little bit, but we still have a long journey ahead of us. The only extra thing I'd like to add is that I finally ended my long quest earlier this week and came into possession of a Nintendo Wii! Man, that thing is great, I've been having a ton of fun playing it with my wife and my friends. If you don't already have a Wii you should go out and get one.
