Headmaster Report #2

News

--The position of EP for the 'Test of Endurance' is now open to applications. In order to apply, you must be at least the rank of Acolyte, and have already passed the Test of Endurance, as well as at least a 72 hour email turnaround. In your application, you should list one thing you like about the course, and one thing you would change. Send them to myself (Aabsdu) and my Praetor (BubbaX) by February 3rd. I trust you can find our email addresses.

--EP for 'IRC Channel Operators' is still open to applications, with the same requirements above. Be sure to also include your own personal answer key to the exam. I have extended to application period for that course until January 27th.

--After not hearing from Scorpius, Brotherhood Basics lost its EP. However, I have decided to step in and take up that course as it is one of the most taken courses by new members. 'Clan Plagueis History' will also get a new EP soon, but that is already being handled.

--In order to spend more time as Proconsul, Lucien has stepped down as Knight Commander of the Brotherhood. He did a great job, and is still helping out around the Shadow Academy, so he isn't completely gone. For now, the position will remain open until I finish compiling a status report of the Society of Envoys.

--I highly suggest you check out this page to see how close you are to earning a Shadow Academy degrees, the next step up from passing a course. If you have done enough to earn a degree, email Bubba and myself with your dossier number, name, which degree, the usual.

--If you're working towards a degree, save the passing emails. It makes it easier when you request it if you already know your scores on them (and provide us with evidence of those scores). Remember you must get at least an 85 for it to count towards the degree. We will still verify scores, but doing this will greatly help us out.

--Thanks to everyone who participated in the Society of Envoys poll. This, along with several other things, will help me compile a status report for the Society of Envoys. You still have until January 22nd (yes, I changed the end date) to vote if you haven't already!

--RevengeX recently took the time to go through and update the HTML Basics notes and exam, and did an awesome job of it. Those will be uploaded soon.

--This is just a reminder about the Shadow Academy section in the DB Forums. This is a great place to suggest new courses or ask for exam help (although not the answer). You can find that here.

Featured Shadow Academy Course

This is something I'm going to start trying to do in all of my reports: highlight a specific course that is worth taking (not that any of them aren't worth taking). There isn't any awards or anything with this (although that's not a bad idea), just a course that will help you succeed in the Brotherhood. This week's course is Wiki Basics.

If you plan on using the Wiki, be it for your own article, clan articles, or a strange desire to one day be on the DJBWiki Staff, then you need this course. It provides you everything you need to get started, and if you already know all that stuff, then this thing should be a walk in the park. The DJBWiki is an amazing encyclopedia of Brotherhood knowledge, the course is just as amazing. You can find the course notes here.

Projects

--There are several courses that are in the works (have been since Anshar). Think along the lines of vehicles, force cults, clans, and blasts from the past. There's also a list of degrees still in the works, so hopefully we'll be able to put one of those into effect soon, both Mavens and Savants.

--Congrats to Revvy and Zeron for winning SA Trivia on the 13th as well as Camord, Sklib, and Merlance for winning it on the 20th; today's trivia will be the last of SA Trivia for the time being. I do have plans to start it back up again (with more solid rules), but not for now.

--Thanks to Kalak and Lucien, we will be working on releasing several competitions geared towards members under the rank of DJK. Starting sometime in February, Kalak will begin releasing weeklong competitions for our Journeymen designed to increase their knowledge in the Brotherhood, plus beef up their promotion requests.

Headmaster

Aabs,

With Jac and Sildrin currently working on a whole load of website updates, it may be worth requesting that all SA courses be logged WITH the percentages included and link to the acquisition of said course.

I'm sure they guys could then have something automatically flag up when somebody is approaching/deserving of a degree...

This would avoid all the extra leg work for both the SA and the members. It would also eliminate the chance that people miss their oppertunities for degrees.

Cheers,
