SAPPHIRE SQUADRON REPORT FEBRUARY 21ST, 2008

In Clan Naga Sadow, Consul Shan Long is reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said,
"Consul, do you know what I just heard about your friend?"
"Hold on a minute," Shan Long replied. "Before telling me anything I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test."
"Triple filter?"
"That's right," the Consul continued. "Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you're going to say. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?"
"No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it and..."
"All right," said the Consul. "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?"
"No, on the contrary..."
"So," Shan Long continued, "you want to tell me something bad about him, but you're not certain it's true. You may still pass the test though, because there's one filter left: the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?"
"No, not really."
"Well," concluded Shan Long, "if what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?"
This is why Consul Shan Long is a great philosopher and held in such high esteem.
It also explains why he dosen't know Fred the Seal is screwing his wife.

#001 - New Aedile
As everyone should be aware, Krath Priest Tyren has been appointed our newest Aedile.
Well I'll be a monkey's uncle, now both my nephews are in the house summit. Should be a good thing for us in Sapphire.
#002 - Wanted: One Squadron XO
I'm going away in March for about 12 days or so and I need someone capable of keeping an eye on the squadron while I'm away. So I am looking for anyone interested in becoming the XO of Sapphire.
The job will consist of mostly filling in for me when I'm on leave, but will also include other small tasks from time to time.
Anyone interested should send an application to me and tell me why you would like the position. I will fill the position in next week's report.

Rapidly did the Commander invoke a council as to resolve the edict. Many nights passed without respite before the exhausted Commander appeared. A charter had been drafted and the Crimson Guard was born <-
....weeks later on the planet Aeotheran.
All the members of Sapphire Squadron gathered in Level P of Zafiro Torre. The level is a dark cellar, hidden in an unknown and faraway corner of the establishment. The eerie sounds of hydraulics and fusion drives echoed through the air. Commander Robert Daragon began to address the members.
"Greetings members of Sapphire. Today we honor the first of Sapphire to be promoted in the Crimson Guard. Step forward Ensign's Macron and Fenris."
With the power that the position of Drunken Kresshian awards me, I hearby appoint you both to the rank of Bouncer. Congratulations."

Another week for Sapphire. I have to say I'm kind of dissappointed with the activity level, especially in the Artisan competition. Now a couple of you are contributing, but most of the squadron isn't. I'm not trying to nag anyone, cause I understand your only going to do what you want to do and some are either on leave or have been on leave. But we are running out of time, so let's finish up what were doing and get something submitted. And remember to let me know when you do.
Other than that not much to say. The website is slowly coming along, I've been using most of time working on the Artisan and NPC competitions. As always, any questions or suggestions for the squadron; shout them out. I'm here to listen and help.
