**Brotherhood-class Super Dreadnought Nightfall

Objective Rally Point Titan, Bilbringi System

Fall of Antei, Day 62
**

The Brotherhood-class Super Dreadnought Nightfall hungs against the darkness of the stars at its pre-arranged rendezvous coordinates as another ship flashed in from hyperspace and came to a stop, just barely out of turbolaser range.

"Nightfall..." came a familiar voice, so long unheard on Brotherhood channels, "This is the Fiat Tenebris. Grand Master Paladin requests permission to dock."

Arriving aboard and exchanging the requisite greetings, the cloaked figure of Jedgar Paladin, concealed in the voluminous robes of his rank, the ferule of his ebony staff struck the deck plates with each step, heavy boots striding through the corridors on his way to the personal chambers of Darth Sarin. He paused for a moment as the doors open, pulling back his cowl. The Grand Master strode confidently forward before dropping momentarily to one knee.
"Brother." The word came gravelly, with a subtle nod of his head, before rising - the proprieties must be obeyed, after all. Comfortable as the man was with his own power, he knew the political harpies would screech at anything he did out of place, and he did not care to deal with that sort of chaos.
"It has been a long time, Jedgar." Sarin's words seemed to resonate from the shadows. "What has brought you back to us? We thought you might have fallen beyond the edge of the galaxy, but I felt no disturbance in the Force to mark your passing."
"I have come from a meeting with our brothers of the Star Chamber." Paladin said, getting to business, "My explorations were successful. There were many interesting and puissant artifacts to be found."
"Fascinating." the Grand Master responded, though from his tone, the comment could have meant anything.
"I bear word of their decision." Paladin continued, "The exploration must continue. But with the Vong threat, I have been asked to stay. And see to certain other matters as well..." He waved his hand dismissively, as if those matters are unimportant annoyances. "We believe it is time to put the Envoys to their proper purpose. To send them forth to bring back the fruits that may be found beyond our space."
"I see." came the reply, this time a bit more interested.
"Those who are among the clans should remain, but others..." the undercurrent of 'those who are expendable' went unsaid but palpable, "should be put to a more productive use. The Society as it isÂ… ends. Everything is unfolding as we had foreseen those many years ago when the Envoys began. They will travel beyond the Outer Rim to return when their mission is fulfilled. I will provide my notes and maps."
"Then let it be as you have said. The Society will be dissolved in its present form, and the Envoys sent on their journeys to return when they have acquired what we seek. The Iron Throne concurs."
Paladin bowed his head in acceptance of the Dark Lord's decision, before turning to other matters. Today would be hectic.

News

Society of Envoys: Closed: After speaking with the Consuls and Star Chamber I have decided to close the Society of Envoys. This change; for the most part, will have no impact on how the Dark Brotherhood conducts the business of welcoming new members. Over the past two years the position of KCB has been one of advisory and not one of command. Clans have held the ability to hire and fire Envoys, create their own promotion and new member indoctrination programs, and utilize their envoys in any way they have seen fit. The Society as a Society ceased to exist long ago and became a Clan centric organization of welcoming members.
Because the Clans control new member indoctrination, there is no need for a society that attempts (without much success) to guide their actions. Welcoming new members will remain a Clan focused activity and it will remain in the capable hands of those appointed by Consuls. In the place of the Envoys, we have the already coded House Rollmasters. These job of these individuals, as their name indicates, is to manage the roll of the Houses. From this point forward, Clans may utilize the Rollmasters as a position to replace their Envoys. You may also handle new member indoctrination without a Rollmaster by having your leaders conduct the welcoming and training of new members. It is up to the Clans to implement and see to their own training.
So, now the onus on new member efficiency is completely left to the Clans. Something many Consuls have asked for over the years. This change takes place today and will be implemented by the cleansing of the Envoy roles.
Update: Force Powers: The new Force Powers for the Dark Brotherhood are 95% complete. The graphics for the powers and their definitions have been submitted. We are just waiting on a few final pieces of the code to be implemented and then everyone can start picking and choosing from the 150+ powers. I promise, they are coming soon :p

Order Update: Coming hand in hand with the Force Powers is an Orders Discipline system that will introduce three disciplines within each order. This system, like the force powers, is all but complete. We should see it package with the Force Powers.
Lightsabers: Because of the severe losses that occurred during the War, the brilliant military minds of the Dark Brotherhood have decided to release three basic Lightsabers from the DB armory to PRTs and above. These weapons; crafted by other Jedi, will be given to those who will fight in our wars, but are not yet ready to create their own. This historic change will now allow PRTs the ability to use a real lightsaber in the ACC.

Raken Quote of the Week:
<@Raken> just be prepared, i'm basically going off on this email reply as if i'm off my meds

Real Life

1 Year as Grand Master: I have passed the one year mark as Grand Master and the new GM smell has finally started to wear off. I believe I have surpassed several other of the GMs on time served already, but for some reason I still feel like the new kid on the block. That might have something to do with Jac, Firefox, and Paladin sitting with me in the Star Chamber channel :p
I was hoping to release the new Character Sheets, Force Powers, Plot Update, Order Disciplines, and DB military on 3 March, but this deadline went out the Window when Jac and I decided to take a few days off. We should see the release of all of these new additions to the DB very very soon.
The new lightsabers for PRT-JH will be released in the next few days. The SCL staff is hard at work on updating the coding selectors.
The updated DB military (Task Force Rancor in the house) will be released in the next couple of days. Raken put his Ranger killer experience to use and crafted a very light and lethal Star Wars ground force together for the Dark Council. This little document should be helpful for all of you authors who like to see these things fleshed out.
Once the string of projects talked about above are released, I am going to start working on the (re)implementation of automatic promotions. We are more than likely going to automatically promote based on a few factors up to the rank of PRT. Once a member reaches PRT, they will then be handed over to their Knight systems. Hopefully we can see this implementation put into place within 3 months from today.

Final Thoughts

Thats it from the GM: Have a great week everyone! Grab me on mIRC or email if you need me.

Done!

I am Prajna Berkana and I approve this Grand Master.

So... the SoE is closed but Envoy's are still about. I am right to assume that from the little fiction at the start of the report, Envoy's not attached to a clan are going to have a fictional role (be they fictional characters or not?) As that is something I would like to exploit for character development purposes.

I would assume that since the Envoys are completely in the Clans' hands now, that an 'Envoy' not in a Clan isn't an Envoy. :P

There are no more "Envoys"...the fiction is just fiction. The Clans will now decide whether they wish to continue on with the jobs of the Envoys. If so, that's what the RM position can now be used for.

Sarin ftw.

whooo! Rangers lead the way! :P

merely curious here, but with these lightsabers for PRT and above, does this put an end to Training sabers? or will they remain for ACOs?

more fictional info and images will arrive when we do the 'true' launch for the journeyman sabers.

Envoy positions of all shapes and sizes have been closed. Free, retired, whatever. This would be why I asked you all about the whole Honored Envoy-ness ;)

May as well just get rid of this "Honored Envoy" title as well to fully get rid of the system. It is my opinion that a brief paragraph stating why you deserve to be one is a bit light to get what seems to be permanent title for a job that required minimal work.

Along with Master Raiju.....what will become of the training sabers? Becaue I'm trying so hard to get mine and if they are just going to be thrown away...then...what do I do?

hmmmm why did it post that twice....

If you refresh the page after submitting your comment it reposts... and will keep doing so every time you refresh. The moral of the story is: don't refresh after making a comment :P

Honored Envoy is just a list that will be kept on the Wiki, nothing on the dossier or anything. While it may surprise, there were Envoys that did a good job at it, so they should be remembered as once being Envoys

Double posts bad :P

About Training lightsabers...I don't really know what's being done, but in all honesty it doesn't take much to get PRT. At most a month of decent activity? Something like that. So if there are no more training sabers, you won't be missing out on much.

And I agree about the "Honored Envoys" deal. There is no really fair way to give out such honorary titles, and in all honesty should probably just leave well enough alone. There are no more Envoys, and leave it at that

well ive been active for like a year lol....and im still a Acolyte lol...im trying though...i dunno what else i have too do :S

Are you active? Do you take part in competitions?

More importantly do you tell your QUA/AED about you taking part? They have no way of knowing otherwise.

Krandon is being taken care of.

That sounds kind of sinister. Nicely done.
