Headmaster Report #6

Muz, according to my computer's clock, it is now 5:38:04:12 PM EDT :P

As always, it's been an exciting two weeks, and also as always, this report promises yet another change (or should I say addition) to the Shadow Academy. Tons of news and projects, so read on! Oh, since I don't have report graphics, I've added pictures to make it a little better to read.

News

<-

--I'm proud to announce the release of the first new Shadow Academy course during my tenure as Headmaster: Hand-to-Hand Combat! Written by Muz, this course goes over the basics and specifics about hand to hand combat, so it should be really useful to you ACC people out there. It is a very well written course, but be advised, you can't sit down and finished the exam in a few minutes, and it takes some thought. You can find the notes and exam here.

--Dacien Victae has been Praetor to the Headmaster for almost eight months now, under Anshar and now me. During that time, he has introduced several ideas (pushed degrees into a reality) as well as coded the SA website and courses. He is an amazing Praetor, and for all of his hard work, I'm proud to award Dacien Victae with a Sapphire Blade as well as the Dark Maven - Service degree. Congrats, Bubba!

--Staff awards were also handed out to all of our EPs this weekend. Most of them were Scrolls of Foundation, but congrats to Daniel Stephens, RevengeX, Kalak Ragnose, Devani, Faeril, Kara, and Juda on their Service degrees.

--As you all know if you read Sarin's report, the Society of Envoy has been closed. All journeymen promotion stuff now rests with the clans and their rollmasters. Any Envoy-related positions are being removed from the database, so if you want people to know that you were an Envoy, there's a cool position box that you can code into your character wiki page. SA Journeymen competitions are still coming soon to a theatre near you, though, so watch for them in the coming months.

--Due to just disappearing all of a sudden, the position for EP of Old Republic History is now open to applications. You must have passed the exam, be at least the rank of Protector, and have an email turnaround of at least 48 hours. Send a short application along with your own answer key to the exam to myself ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) and Dacien ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]). Try to get these in by March 31st, but Dacien and I reserve the right to select the EP once we feel we find who we're looking for.

--All leaders (clan and house) should now get an email when a member's history is approved. So, if any of you realize that you aren't, let me know so we can fix it.

--The requirements for the Scroll of Indoctrination have changed to just: Recruited member must be at least the rank of Acolyte. It is a small change that probably won't really affect anything, but it makes things a lot easier overall.

Projects

--Kalak and I are currently working on going through and updating/improving all Shadow Academy Wiki pages, so hopefully I'll be able announce some additions within the next few reports. So far the only major article we've updated is Knight Commander of the Brotherhood, which is now more detailed and in the past tense.

--I've gotten a few people to volunteer to possibly help teach gaming classes for a Dark Sage degree, but I still need some volunteers to help with JA, so if you play the game and are good at it, shoot me an email. Remember that this isn't a full time thing, instead once or twice a year you'll be expected to help out whoever signs up get better.

Featured Course of the Week

This report's featured course is none other than the newest addition to the Shadow Academy: Hand-to-Hand Combat! Muz did an excellent job writing it, and gives great insight into how hand-to-hand combat works, which will undoubtedly help those who take it when it comes to ACC writing. Be advised, though, the exam is not a sit down and do in five minutes exam, it takes a little thought. I would even say this is one of those exams that you answer in a .doc and then c/p them into the boxes. It's worth it, though. The notes for this course can be found here or in the Important Links section below.
