Regarding Medals for the ACC

I know there has been a lot of discussion previously as to what medals should be awarded for the Antei Combat Center, if any at all. After discussing it with several members of the DC, I've formed the following policy:

  • Clusters of Fire can be (and should be) awarded for wins in official ladders or tournaments.
  • Crescents may be awarded for people who place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in ladders or tournaments. The type of crescents will depend on the scale of the ladder or tournament.
  • A new medal will not be created for ACC wins.

This basically arises from the fact that we have the medals we need for the ACC: competition medals already exist for multiplayer events, which, ultimately, is what the ACC is. Since Clusters of Fire have always been awarded solely for sanctioned competitions, they will continue to do be awarded for sanctioned matches - ladders and tournaments.

To address the arguments people proposed for a new medal or CFs for every match basically had two arguments: that every match is sanctioned since they have a judge, or that ACC matches require much more time than a JO/JA/XvT/XWA match. Every match is not sanctioned, though - the Judge is in the nature of the ACC. I enjoy the ACC quite a bit, and I know the posts can take a long time - but that doesn't necessarily justify a new award or CFs for every match. Games of Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds can take several hours, or people can play JO for several hours, but if it's not a sanctioned match, they still don't receive a CF for it. In my eyes, the main reward for winning in normal ACC matches is working your way towards new ACC ranks and receiving stat bonuses, as well as toting your mighty record (2-1 Fleshy, woo.)

ADDITION: Just as a side note; rewards for rampant non-competition activity in ANY area of the brotherhood is something that is awarded by your Quaestors and Consuls. There is a certain point at which giving out a medal for everything just devalues them. This is one of those boundaries that we have decided not to cross.
Cyris and the ACC staff are working on making more competitions and different types of competitions, so hopefully this won't be an issue for long.

PWNED :P

Personally I've always argued that a "sanctioned" match is to ensure that it meets standards, which is why the casual SW:GB match may not for the players may use anything from unorthodox rules to cheats or even unapproved patches and hacks. But, the ACC is different, its a controlled environment, every match is played under the same conditions, therefore there is no risk of foul play or anything like that- which ot be honest, is all sanctioning competitions is about.

But, meh, just my view :P

Perhaps after a certain amount of wins, a medal can be gained from non-ladder/tournament matches? Say, after 5 wins one recieves a StA, then another after 15, and another after 30, or something to that effect. Rabid participation outside of structured competitions shouldn't go unrewarded. That's my two credits. ;P

Call me crazy, but wouldn't regular participation in the ACC count towards your regular activity? Like...your house/clan leaders should be keeping an eye on your ACC progress and include that into your total monthly activity...or something along those lines shrugs Crazy, I know :P

Vassan, there is already something like you propose. It's called "ACC rank". I however disagree with the assessment that a normal ACC battle is not sanctioned - the battle has to be approved and set up by a judge and can be declined if the settings do not promise sufficient quality, thus I would indeed call that sanctioned. And the "You can play JK for 4 hours and not get anything" doesn't really hold either - in 4 hours of JK, you play anywhere between 5 and 40 matches compared to the one ACC battle...

Just my opinion as a judge ;-)

As Shadow has stated... PWNED.

You people have your decision, trust me when I say Fleshy has thought about all these arguments, and decided against your reasoning... now onwards to death and destruction, and stop bitching!
