As promised here is round one of Tyrens test!

  Jade grinned and passed back and forth looking at Tyren. She had to come up with some tests for him, ones she knew that might actually test his skills.  He was probably waiting for her to take him on in battle, test his worthiness as a solider, but she had other plans. There was far more to being a Night Hawk then just being able to fight.  It involved, skill, courage, participation, knowledge and in her opinion heart.  

  Her grin widened as Tyren casually took out a cig and lit it. Drawing back on the bitter tasting substance before placing it between his two fingers and waving it around as he spoke. "Well Miss Atema I'm waiting...Or perhaps you know you can not win while challenging me."  

  Jade smirked trying hard to not burst out laughing. "Oh you are the cocky sort."  

  "You seem to have me confused with someone else Priestess...I'm the one that keeps my head, it is my brother that is cocky." He took another long drag from the cig and blew the smoke casually into the air around him, grinning at the glare her eyes bore into him.  

  Jade used the force to steal the cig, dropping it to the floor and grinding it with the toe of her black boot. "You think your so smart don't you?" She took a few steps back to him, until she was close enough that her breath tickled his skin.   

  Tyren grinned and nodded. "It is a well known fact that I am, a fact to which I guess you have not been privy to know yet."  

  She glared at him and gently tapped his shoulder. "Ok Mr. Smart A$$ Atema, let's see if you can pass the first of your three tests to see if you are a true Night Hawk."  Tyren had been in charge of the team a while back, she didn't doubt his leadership skills or his loyalty. No this was more a lesson to remind him that he wasn't currently in charge. "I need to know that you have some quick and logical thinking skills to match that lady's man witt of yours." Jade grinned and stepped back. "You must answer 3 riddles. Each one you answer correctly receives you 5 points, the one you do not answer correctly loses you 5 points."  

 Tyren had begun to get another cig out of his pocket when he looked at her. "A loss of points? That hardly seems fair."  

 "Its an incentive to not just give up on a question." Grinning she didn't let him respond before she continued. "Your first riddle is this.  To me this is something that must be kept in order for you to have any trust or credit, so keep this in mind while answering." Her eyes roamed over his figure, from his head to his toes. He was ready... prepared to do an exchange of knowledge, and the look on his face said he was enjoying this. "What is it that you can keep after giving it to someone else?"  

 Tyren scratched his chin and looked at her for a second before dropping his eyes in thought, his lips silently repeating her words. "Hmmm..."His eyes wondered to her face as he suddenly grinned. "Ahh yes... I agree with you, this is something that must be kept in order for anyone to be trusted and have credibility." Jade nodded. "The answer is...My word."  

  Jade gave him a slight bow with her head. "Very good, that would be 5 points for you....But don't think about getting a celebratory cig just yet." Jade grinned as she watched his hand drop from his pocket as he had begun to go for just such a reward. "Your second riddle is something that may make you think of your impact on the team, and even leadership in general. Tell me, Tyren, the more you take, the more you leave behind. What are they?"  

  He took a step forward, his lips again silently repeating her words. Giving her but a quick look he began to pace back and forth in front of her doorway. Jade smirked and went to sit in her chair, watching his mind process the question carefully, unwilling to give up in something he found so provoking and intriguing. His feet silent at first only her sensitive hearing picking up the sound. However as he got deeper in thought his foot falls began to echo in the room.  Suddenly stopping he turned towards her and walked quickly. "The answer is footsteps."  

 Jade grinned. "I'm impressed; you think through problems...quickly, that's good. And yes it is footsteps.  As a leader and as a member of a team one must always remember that whatever we do impacts our mark on each other and the overall health of the clan."    

  Tyren nodded, a bit surprised, this was a side he had not seen of Jade before.  

 She crossed her ankles on the desk and smiled. "Your third riddle, and to see whether you leave the first round of your challenges with 15 or 5 points is..."She let the pause hang on purpose. Tyren always liked mental puzzles, and she hoped that the anticipation would make him work just a little harder on the last question. When the silent impatient tapping of his boot reached her ears she smirked, it was working. "hmhmh the choice of two riddles which one shall I chose...?" Slowly rising from her desk she walked a few steps away and turned to face him, casually moving her hips as she turned, resting her hand on the one that held her saber, a signal of things yet to come. "This is also known as golden, and can be used in times of battle or times of diplomacy, so it is also an important quality." Taking a slow breath she finally put him out of his anticipation. "What is it that you break even when you name it?"  

Tyren looked at the floor in front of her boots, his lips pursed together for a brief moment before silently retracing her words. "hmhm if I'm correct many will take this as a vow, and even some of the DB members have taken it for periods of a time." He was half tempted to not tell her the answer, half tempted to see what would happen if he left round one with only 5 points, but his nature wouldn't let him lose a mental challenge. "The answer is ...silence."  

 Jen raised her eyebrows, slightly impressed none of her questions had taken him too long, but then again he was always saying he was the smart one who thought things through. Not wanting to give away her impressions totally yet, she eyed him and quickly stated, "Now, onto round two....."
