Troy Denning

Met Troy at a local book signing. I'm not really a fan of his work. I thought Aaron Allston and Karen Traviss' work in the Legacy of the Force series was better. Denning's Star by Star, midway through the New Jedi Order, was among the better books of that series second only to Matt Stover's Traitor, but I could be remembering it more fondly than it deserves. It could also be that there were really only two decent books of that 19-book series and I just named them. Then Denning gave us the Dark Nest Trilogy and I'm not really sure what happened there.

I thought it would be good though to go and further the cause of the Brotherhood. I spoke to him briefly about the club and he seemed like a nice enough guy. Maybe if we're lucky he'll check out the site and steal something we created.

WikiWikiWiki

Set up all the primary articles for the Navy of the Iron Throne. There are still some that need building involving the various squadrons, air wings, task forces, etc., but I'll get to those eventually. I'm shifting to the Army of the Iron Throne and will start putting up the main articles for the various units soon.

Plot Updates Update

I put some information HERE regarding the updates. The updates themselves can be found HERE.

Also, I won't be writing every one of these things. At some point I'll be looking for guest writers who will work off an outline from us and hopefully hit a homerun. I won't be the fiction tribune guy forever. With the way I've redesigned this job, I'd like to see whoever the subsequent T:F's are take on this responsibilty. They'll work with the GM, DGM, etc. to create and publish our story. Not sure if that will happen, but that would be the plan.

Results

We had an extra month thrown in to finish April's competitions due to the IG's. It was also the last month of the Time of War three part epic competition. Many lives were changed for the better.

I'd like to call out the three competitors who participated in all three phases of the event giving me over 15 pages of fiction each.

**Vodo

Zandro

Legorii **

They all made great efforts to tell a story, suffer the particulars of the events, and basically have fun. Well done.

1st Place - Zandro 7463, Arcona

2nd Place - Vodo 3729, Taldryan

3rd Place - Legorii 8893, Arcona

Overall Winner for the 3-Part Time of War Competition - Zandro, Clan Arcona

In addition to Zandro getting his Crescent w/ Ruby Star (among the other Crescents he collected through the competition), he'll also have his character featured in a forthcoming update to the official Brotherhood story as well as have elements of what he wrote worked into the fiction behind our acquisition of the YVH combat droids. The overall idea behind the competition was to advance our collective story during the recovery and aftermath of the Eighth Great Jedi War using what you as members created. This worked out pretty well with Zandro's story and now his character will be featured prominently. Not too bad considering most of us never see our characters used like this. Zandro also receives a lifetime subscription to RAKEN the Magazine.

Other winners were...

**1st Place - Legorii 8893, Arcona

2nd Place - Taigikori 5829, Taldryan**

**1st Place - Vorion 8469, Arcona

2nd Place - Legorii 8893, Arcona

3rd Place - Taigikori 5829, Taldryan**

Mandalorian Jedi. Jedi Mandalorians. Don't think this will ever be resolved. With the recent Legacy of the Force stuff, there's definitely precedent for the two mixing, at least as far as Light Side Jedi go, but I think this issue will remain hotly debated as much for canonical reasons as club ones.

Participation

Vorion 8469 (ARC)

Legorii 8893 (ARC)

Zandro 7463 (ARC)

Taigikori 5829 (TAL)

Anubis 9056 (TAL)

Vodo 3729 (TAL)

June Competition

I know many of you are probably a little burnt on writing following the IG's. Not sure how writing-intensive they were, but it's normally a lot of what goes on. So, for this month, I'm doing one competition. If you're up for it...great. If not, take it easy and I'll have a few more choices for you in July.

I put the wrong ending date on this one. It's meant to end on **July 1st*.

Reading

Working through Timothy Zahn's Outbound Flight. Got it as part of one of those buy-one-get-one-free (or half-off) deals. Don't care for it so far. When it's done I'll finish off the Legacy of the Force series with Invincible. Beyond that I'll see what comes down. James Luceno is doing something called Millenium Falcon that doesn't sound interesting.

Raken

KHAN!!!!!! KHA!!!! coughcoughhack excuse me.

zandro!!!!! ZANDRO!!!!!!!!!

I wasn't expecting much from Millennium Falcon when I saw the original blurb but the advert in the final pages of Invincible isn't actually that bad.

Can't really say much else though without spoiling it, only that I think the book title might be deliberately vague to not give anything away. I get a distinct "Epilogue Novel" vibe from it though.

how come you dont do poetry no more?

Wow! You've made me a very proud Consul and an even prouder Arconan. Looks like we've got our mojo back and growing stronger everyday!

Congratulations on the following placements:

1st Place - Zandro 7463, Arcona
3rd Place - Legorii 8893, Arcona

1st Place - Legorii 8893, Arcona

1st Place - Vorion 8469, Arcona
2nd Place - Legorii 8893, Arcona

Looks like Arcona pwned!

Mejas smells. And not the good kind of smell, either. :P

Where do I claim this subscription then?

If you want Lord Raken I can help with the Army of the Iron Throne, because that interested me a lot.

Congrats, Zandro and Vorion for winning your respective competitions. And Zandro...I never could catch you :P
