Suggestion Box

I read almost everything we get. Not everything is usable so if you don't see your particular idea implemented don't take it personally. It has more to do with direction than merit. I think up things all the time we never use because at the start of each day we have a finite amount of resources to see a given task done between us and some ideas are just a bit too far afield to realize. We tend to focus on what will hopefully draw the membership in, give them enjoyment, and keep them interested. So we're forced to an extent to go with what has the highest probability of achieving those goals tempered by the direction we all want to see the club take.

But ideas do get through. So send them. A couple of you out there might soon notice some familiar things in what's in store and I appreciate you taking the time to help us make this place better.

The Ninth Great Jedi War

Apparently fighting really doesn't solve anything. Work in earnest has begun on the plot and event mechanics of GJW 9. I've shifted off some other projects to knock out some work on the upcoming GJW while the flood of ideas (hopefully good ones) has been flowing. I really didn't see myself doing another war. They are a fucking ridiculous amount of work and more closely resemble a second job rather than a hobby. But we have some ideas I think are worth the effort to explore and I'm excited about the story for this one.

Plot Updates Update

I finished the second one of these a while back. It needs a bit more work. You'll start to see some of the things I talked about on the fiction forums appear. I started writing the third update as well. It's fun to bridge us from where we were at the last war's end to the start of the next. With a living story guiding us, opportunities are opening up to weave together some interesting things. I think this concept will pay off and I hope we'll wonder one day how we got along without it.

Army of the Iron Throne Suffers Cutbacks

This is really the only project I have going affected by my work on the GJW. Everything else I have in the chute is pretty much 100% waiting on another department to work their magic. I've recruited Sarin to help me finish wikitizing things, but it's not terribly important in the grand scheme and we're getting to it when we can.

Results

So, June. Coming off the IG's I kept it light figuring most would be a bit written out. Even so we had a few people put forth quite a bit of effort hopefully indicating the topic was worthy of some thought. I also ran a short but intense trivia competition in early June that had a lot of participation.

Submissions

As Jac told the DC, email bounces from @darkjedibrotherhood.com aren't working like they once did. Not his fault either. In the meantime, send your submissions to [Log in to view e-mail addresses]. Sorry if this gave you any trouble.

Reading

Outbound Flight finished off a little better than it began. I still don't think it should take 250 pages of set-up to get to only mildly interesting events for the climax.

Finished Legacy of the Force. I write junk fan fiction, but I would say any of us could have given Troy Denning a run for his money with the work put into Invincible. I don't normally rant. He gets paid to write Star Wars and I don't, but at just under 300 pages I really felt his attention must have been on his next project rather than the conclusion to a nine book series. Piss-poor. Look for a more in-depth review of Invincible and LotF on the forums in the near future.
