Sith Commander Report

Dark Greetings Keepers,

It’s been a pretty normal week in the DB and a quiet one in the BT, which is quite disturbing. However, I’m confident that with new competitions and some coaxing, you guys can shoot into activity. So hopefully this report helps you guys get involved more and do more for the Clan. In every report, I would urge you all, if you have limited time, to read the closing statement. I’ll try to impart some encouragement and hopefully a moral to you all. So if you don’t have time, just read the closing.

First, I’d like to talk about the numerous things you can do in the Brotherhood. For gamers, there are numerous gaming nights and competitions. Writers have the ACC, fiction competitions and the occasional run-ons. People, who just want to do something, take an SA course or go onto IRC and chat, which still technically counts as activity. And I know that leaders would usually say that you should get active but I’m offering something else. I guarantee that if members do one of the following, I will personally recommend them to be given a Dark Cross:

•Pass 7 Shadow Academy Courses

•Participate in 8 competitions or place in 5

•Fight in and finish 5 ACC Battles

•Win at least 30 Clusters of Fire in Gaming Nights or events.

•Do a combination of the above things or participate sufficiently in Brotherhood activities that aren’t mentioned.

Though not much, a Dark Cross is a good addition to your next promotion recommendation, helps you advance in level in Clan Force Powers and, well, it looks good on your Dossier. Since I don’t have the power to give a Dark Cross to myself, I feel like rewarding all of you who get active. Please email me if you feel you deserve a Dark Cross and I’ll look into it, though I don’t think any of you guys will meet one of the criteria above soon unless you’re that damn good :P.

A good way for you to get a head start on that DC and maybe win a few Crescents is joining in competitions and just because I’m very nice, I’ve begun three. Make sure you participate and be sure to try your hardest. CC the Summit if you wish so they too know of your activity. Check out the competitions page in the DB website and see which competitions you guys can join.

Next thing I want to talk about is the upcoming GJW. O.K., it’s going to be at least 6 months away but we should be getting prepared now. We should be doubling our efforts and I’ll be doing my part to motivate you all. I’ve mentioned ways to get active above and hopefully you are going to approach all of these tasks with vigor. I will do my best to release bi-weekly reports starting next week, double my activity and try and shoot out more competitions for you guys to crunch on. We need to start doing whatever we can, anything or at the very least something to help the clan in preparation for the GJW. Tarentum has limitless potential and I believe we could finally dethrone Talydran from the throne of 1st place in the GJW. So please, do anything. Email me if you need something but we’ve got to start working now.

No activity report this week but from next week onward, I plan to start reporting that on the latter of my bi-weekly reports.

Closing Statement:

I have a friend who always asked for something over and over and over again no matter how many times he was refused till the person he asked finally gave him what he wanted. This used to work in school, with friends, with parents, even when asking out dates. I so desperately wondered what his secret was. There was nothing extraordinary about him; he wasn’t that good looking, not charming and not intelligent at all. I realized after lots of time of wondering that his only secret was he never gave up, he was persistent. And often persistence will get good results that are sometimes unexpected.

The point is that like my friend, we need to stay persistent. A Battle Team doesn’t just have to be a unit in a Clan. It can be an example of how the Clan can work and I believe this very Battle Team could do just that. We need to be persistent. We need to keep trying. If you get last place in a writing competition, join another. If you lose an ACC battle, challenge another person, maybe the same person. Lose a gaming match? No problem, go again. We can’t stop trying. Success in the Brotherhood, well success in life depends a great deal on persistence. Sometimes, skill and talent are secondary to well… the iconic line of “If you fail once, try, try again.” The Keepers of the Night is a Battle Team with potential and we can truly reach that potential, which is far more than anyone can possibly imagine. It is a potential of greatness. All we need to do is, well, try, try again.

Have a good week!

In darkness,

DJK Deatharoc (Sith)/CMDR-EP/Gladius of Tarentum [ACC: CL:1]
