Sith Commander Report

Dark Greetings Keepers,

Welcome to this week's report. I'm sorry about only being able to release one report but internet in France is usually crap when you're outside of Paris and I only got connection when I finally got back into the city. If you didn't know, I'll be releasing reports bi-weekly in order to keep in contact with you guys and make sure you're all up-to-date with ongoing events in the BT, House, Clan and DB. So let's get on with it. Lock and load.

I'd like a shot at encouraging you all to participate in competitions (including the 3, which I've specially released for this Battle Team). Competitions are great ways to test your skills against other members, to try and learn a few new skills and to win a few medals or at least be recognized for participation. Most of all, competitions give you a chance to kick ass. There are numerous competitions being run that all of you can join. In a few weeks time our Consul will release a Clan competition involving multiple platforms so I have no doubt that all of you could put some effort into that. An inter-Clan Battle Team competition will be released possibly sooner so be on the lookout for that. Competitions are a great way to stride towards your next promotion or big medal and great thing about the DB is that if you don't see a competition you think you'd enjoy, then you could host one as long as your leader(s) approve. So got out there, join or host competitions, win medals, get promoted, and kick ass.

Next, I'd like to remind you all of my new initiative that I hope boosts activity. If you meet the criteria below, I promise to recommend a Dark Cross to be awarded to you. You must meet one of the following:

· Pass 7 Shadow Academy Courses

· Participate in 8 competitions or place in 5

· Fight in and finish 5 ACC Battles

· Win at least 30 Clusters of Fire in Gaming Nights or events.

· Do a combination of the above things or participate sufficiently in Brotherhood activities that aren't mentioned.

Though not much, a Dark Cross is a good addition to your next promotion recommendation, helps you advance in level in Clan Force Powers and, well, it looks good on your Dossier. Since I don't have the power to give a Dark Cross to myself, I feel like rewarding all of you who get active. Please email me if you feel you deserve a Dark Cross and I'll look into it. I really feel like giving some of these away so please get active and go get your Dark Crosses. Again, if you feel like you have earned one…TELL ME!!!

Ok, here's this week's activity:

Windos has won 3 seals of Remembrance and entered my KotN Mission competition

Frindsor has entered my KotN Mission competition

That's it! Come on guys. We need to step it up. I hope to have lots more things to report on this section.

As a reminder my competitions are nearly ending so get them last entries in. Easy crescents available so get on that, and start emailing your entries.

Next thing I want to say is that a leader's first and foremost priority is to keep his members happy. For that to happen, members need to tell the leader what they want. Leaders, including myself, can't possibly know everything members want to happen and though they will try their very best to figure out what members want, the best way is to simply tell them. So I invite all of you who want something in my power, (be it a competition, advice, a change of how the BT works, or anything else like that) to tell me what you want. Even if it's something you don't think I don't have the power to do, tell me and I'll pass the idea/comment on to the Summits. Leaders will try their best to make being a part of their unit an enjoyable, memorable and interesting experience. However, there is no way they can do that successfully if their members don't tell them what they want. Remember, communication is the key.

Closing Statement:

I'd like to start of my ending with a cheer. Read it in your heads or even say it out loud. Here's the cheer: We're number 1, we're number 1, we're number…. It's not much of a cheer is it? It's repetitive, rhythmically uninteresting but most of all its meaningless. People can go around saying that they're number 1, or they're the best but they'll simply be ignored, shunned or even ridiculed if they have done nothing to prove their claim. No matter how convincing one sounds, being defined as the best comes from hard-work and good results. No repetitive chant or grandiose claim can ever replace persistence, dedication and excellent outcomes.

In our Battle Team, in our whole Clan in fact, we may not be as active or work as hard because we feel that we have no need to prove ourselves as the best; that simply thinking we are the best is enough. I know I have done that and I've hated myself for it. The truth is that thinking that you are the best is far from enough. If you think you're the best then show it, if you think you're good then prove it, if you think you deserve to be defined as great then show people why you think that. We have a monumental opportunity to prove our Clan is the best coming up in a couple of months. That opportunity is the Great Jedi War. We simply cannot pass up this chance. Our Clan finished 4th last time and it was, in all honesty, a complete disappointment to me and many others. It was a disappointment because I knew, and I certainly hope many others knew that the Clan could've done far better. In fact we could've done phenomenally. I think the problem was not lack of talent but lack of motivation. Love or hate Talydran, you've got to admit that they are always motivated to keep their title as Clan #1 and we need to be even more motivated to win the Great Jedi War if we are to knock the Talydrans off their thrones. I know you may think a Battle Team cannot do much, but we really can. It sounds awfully cliché but every person makes a difference.

This Battle Team will have numerous opportunities to shine in the future and we need to seize these opportunities. The upcoming Clan competition is really a chance for us to make a mark in Clan history; I know I will be trying. The inter-Clan Battle Team competition will give us a chance to show the Clan that we can work effectively as a team and it also gives us a chance to show that we are the best Battle Team in the whole Clan. In normal days, we still have the chance to show how dedicated, hard-working and talented the members of this Battle Team are. There will be numerous chances for us to shine and we need to show the rest of the House, then Clan, then the whole Club that the Keepers of the Night are indeed great. We need to show them that we can step up to the challenge of being excellent. We need to show them that we are an essential part of the Clan. We need to show them that we can indeed be number 1.

Have a good week!

In darkness,

DJK Deatharoc (Sith)/CMDR-EP/Gladius of Tarentum [ACC: CL:1]
