Headmaster Report #17

It's been a long time since my last report, almost a month now. The reason I skipped out on my last one was due to the coding glitch in the SA admin, so we haven't been able to do much. There are a few updates we have to announce, however, as well as some plans for the future and a new segment of reports.

Starting with this report, I am going to start posting a small fictional update that relates to the Shadow Academy, in order to add some flavor and depth to the <i>Arcanum</i>. I would like to kind of see it turning into something like The Clone Wars TV show, with story arcs that cover several reports and eventually lead to competitions, plus some stand alone parts. Either way, this is the first part, and we are still learning how we want to do this, so be nice. I do want to hear any _constructive criticism you might have. If so, email those thoughts to me. This one is a little longer, to set things up, but usually they will only be a few paragraphs._

The Zarente Chronicles: Part I

In a galaxy so recently divided by the Yuuzhan Vong, few know of the Arcanum. Constantly on the move it is never in the same place for more than a day. Within its halls, however, waits hundreds of hopeful recruits to the Dark Jedi Brotherhood. They are tested to see rather they have what it takes, while others are here to simply expand their knowledge of the Force and the universe. On a distant planet, a struggle is about to occur that will test the strength of the Shadow Academy, and, if victorious, provide the Arcanum with a valuable new weapon.

Onboard the Arcanum; 29 ABY

"We must remain on schedule. Locate it and bring it back as quickly as possible."

The hologram flicked out of existence. Headmaster Aabsdu di Plagia Dupar sat at his desk, reading over the reports provided by his Magistrates Kalak Ragnose and Taigikori Aybara. He slid his hand over the datapads, trying to organize the mass numbers of passings and failings along with the numerous over pieces of data. The report on the mission on Zarente caught his attention.

He touched his comlink, "Get me Magistrate Kalak."

The planet Zarente, in the Outer Rim

The whir of the speeder echoed down the alley. Praetor to the Headmaster Dacien Victae di Plagia doubled back and threw himself through a half open door. Slamming a power charge into his blaster, he swung out and fired several shots at the approaching security force, hitting two of the six. Igniting the light blue blade of his lightsaber, he stepped back out into the alleyway as the four men took aim and fired. The shots were easily deflected as Dacien slowly stepped closer to them. He cut his saber sideways, slicing two of the guards straight through the visor of their helmets. He dropped to one knee, sliding the blade through the kneecap of another guard. Rolling sideways, his hand flew forward as the last guard was suddenly picked up and slammed into the side of the building by some invisible force.

Breathing heavily, Dacien wiped away the sweat that had formed on his brow from his escape from the queen's castle. He turned back down the alley, just as a hovertank fired its missile...

News

--New Star Wars MMO game coming. I'm excited, are you?

--Twelve degrees were awarded this month, so great job to those of you who have been working towards those, keep it up! If you are interested in earning a Shadow Academy degree, check the link to the degree requirements at the end of the report.

--Ace, Jerse, and Kara have stepped down as EPs. I would like to thank them for all their hard work. Timbal will be taking over as EP of History of the Sith Empire III. Kalak will take over as EP of Old Republic History.

--The position of EP of Krath CORE is now open to applications. You must be at least the rank of Protector, have passed the course, and have at least a 72 hour email turnaround. Include in your application your own answer key to the exam, as well as any additions or improvements you would make. Send them to myself and Dacien by November the First.

Projects

--The coding glitch is hindering what all we can do right now, so the new course is still in the postponed folder. Keep an eye out for more EP spots opening up soon, though, as we are doing some overhauling of the HM Staff. Wiki pages are almost finished, as is the Dark Vault overhaul. We also have some course revamps in the works.

--What can you expect by the end of 2008? Three new courses, at least four fictional updates, two Journeymen Competitions (returning in November), the results of the Wiki pages and Dark Vault overhaul, and lots of EP changes!
