Combat Master Report

15 December 2008

Greetings one and all. This is probably a bit of a surprise, to see a new CM, and it wasn't something I had originally planned on as well. However, I want to see that the ACC continues to be a viable and entertaining platform for everyone to use. Sarin has asked both myself and Dalthid to help out in bringing together the changes necessary to incorporate these new Character Sheets into the ACC itself. For those of you who don't know about us, well, we've both been part of the ACC in some fashion for a number of years in various capacities. Much of the current compendium came from the fingers of Dalthid with much editing by others, and we've both had a hand in creating some of the fancy new options in the CS. Suffice it to say, we know our way around the administration of the ACC

Old CS/New CS

I'll get this point out of the way first. One of the reasons Dalthid and I were asked to come on board was to help bring the New CS into the ACC for use. Dalthid has already cranked out some of it within a

few hours of basically being asked to work on it, so we hope to have things done as soon as possible. However, as there are no rules governing the use of the new CS, all battles will still be using the old CS. The basics are still the same, no matter which one is used, but since we have actual explanations for the old CS as well as guidelines it will continue to function as our sheet. As soon as we have a functioning guide we will be switching to the new CS.

Qualification Battles

This is one of the most important areas of the ACC, especially at this time. In a few months we will have a Great Jedi War, and I would love to see as many people as possible able to compete for their Clan (I need some competition! :P). As such, much of our focus will be to see qualification battles be completed in a timely manner. To help facilitate this we will be doing two things. First, there will be no more training battles with staff. There is only so much of the staff to go around. Second, Bloodfyre was to have a qualification-competition involving the Clans. While I won't be running that competition any longer, the idea behind it was a good one. As such, any Clan members who want to help another clanmate qualify, can. All you need to do is e-mail myself ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) and Dalthid ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) with the battle details. We will set it up in the qualification hall, and run by the regular ACC rules. At the end the ACC staff will judge it to see if that person qualifies or not. The more we have helping out, the better. So if you'd like to see your Clan have all hands on deck, then pitch in and help them get qualified!

Custom Weapons

This is an area where we will be going back to how things were before. I don't believe detailed histories are necessarily needed for "custom" weapons. However, they still need to be approved by the CM and DCM. As such, we will be using a Custom Weapon list that had already been in use during my last time as CM: Here.

The information needed can be seen. An image is preferred along with it's name, weapon type(s) and a brief description of what the weapon does. If approved it will go up on that list and can be used in ACC battles, provided you have the necessary skill points in that weapon type.

Post Limits and Battle Timeouts

In the ACC the general rule is 14-days between posts. Going over that time means that the battle is cosed, and in most cases a win awarded to your opponent. There are a number of battles that are now well over that limit. For the next week, if you still have such an outstanding battle you are free to post in it. After that week we will beging closing them down and awarding any wins/losses as necessary. All future battles will be looked after in a much more regular fashion as well.

Closing Shop

Wonder if the title caught your attention? :P For the next month or so no more battles will be featured in the "main" ACC halls. That would basically be the "Combat Centre" and "Jester's Keep". Any

battles currently running or are waiting to be opened will be allowed to finish as normal. However, any Clan competitions or battles in Clan Halls can be made at any time. Battles in the Clan Halls are

there for Clanmates to have at it without worrying about wins/losses. As such, they are generally not "judged", so this is the best time to try out some new things. It may also be a fun time for people to test drive those new CS', without worry about it affecting their own stats. In the end this will allow us to keep our focus on trying to get the new information up as quickly as possible so that the new CS can be used in all aspects of the ACC

Staff

I've got the staff down to those who seem to have been active in the previous few months. With our current focus, a skeleton crew will work for our needs. I know a few people have shown some interest, and I'm sure eventually we will need to be increasing our staff (most likely post-GJW), but until then you should try getting everyone in your Clan qualified in time for the GJW!

Great Jedi War

I've mentioned it a few times in this report, but in case you've missed it there will be a couple ACC-based events in the upcoming GJW. The plan is to utilize the shiny-new sheets, so if you haven't yet then get those created. All events in the GJW, including the ACC, will be judged by non-Clanned members. We already have a couple on staff, as well as a number of others on the DC who know their way around the ACC and how to judge things, so there should be no screams of "bias" this time around.

Closing

I think I've covered the basics of how things will play out for the next little while. My job here is to stabilize things and move it in the right direction, while helping implement the new CS. This is not a permanent position, but both Dalthid and I were tapped due to our experience in the ACC and with the lead up to the GJW it wasn't a good time to bring in someone who didn't know their way around things right away. My e-mail is always open if you have any questions, concerns or comments about the ACC or the new Character Sheets. I'm here to help all of you enjoy yourselves while kicking the living snot out of one another. Anything I can do to help, I will.

In darkness,

DJM Halcyon Rokir

Woohoo Halc and Dalthid! Sarin made a great choice, choosing you two. Can't wait to get in there for the GJW.

Very detailed and well written report. Thank you.

PS. Go approve my CS! :-)

There's bias written all over this report

I think I just...
