Clan Taldryan Website

This is the best website the Brotherhood has to offer. On it you'll find Clan news, DB news, competitions, rosters, and a compendium of information relating to Taldryan. If you ever need to know anything about the Clan, the Tal website is the place to go. Ben has been doing a lot of work upgrading certain areas of the site and I just wanted to mention a new one. What with all the Summit reports being rather large and in an effort to increase regular website updates, Ben has made it so that reports (and other huge posts) are summarized and ended with a link to view the full post.

This should make navigating and loading the main Taldryan page a lot easier. I'm pushing the Summit and myself to use the site more and more for minor updates and to release competition details, so get in the habit of checking out the Tal site. More updates are on the way. Ben has some very sexy tricks up his sleeve, which I'll announce when he's ready to go live with them. I've seen some of the stuff and it's very sweet.

NPC Origins

Technically, this is a competition. But it serves a bigger purpose as the submissions will help shape the backgrounds of Taldryan's NPC military leaders. Check out the Competition Details and get your submissions done. It's simple stuff - just create a point-form list of events that happened in a given NPCs life, which eventually led them to serving Clan Taldryan. It's really easy and it's a lot of fun. Make them realistic and entertaining. Our Commanders are the best and their history should show as much.

ACC Qualification

Halc's new system is a much easier solution to getting your ACC qualification matches done, but no one seems to be doing it. I've started up a forum thread where members can volunteer/ask for qualification battles. Hopefully this will get us a few more people ACC certified and we can run more ACC-specific competitions for the Clan. Halc recently posted an update to Clan member qualification battles. Only the qualifying member has to complete a death post. The person helping them out need only post something like "done" or "no DP needed". Hopefully that will help speed the process up a bit.

Character Sheets

So, this is old news, but I wanted everyone to know that the new character sheets are not solely for the ACC as the old ones were. These new sheets encompass all aspects of the Brotherhood and depict your character's strengths, powers, and skills for any and all fictional activities. This means run ons, fiction competitions, and ACC will all use these sheets to detail what it is you can and cannot do. Thus far I have received 21 approved Character Sheet emails. For a Clan of roughly 60, that's only 1/3 of the total I should have.

If you haven't already, be sure to login to the DB site and click the NEW CHARACTER SHEET ADMINISTRATION link. Follow the information carefully to make sure you a) fill it out properly and b) actually submit it. Some people forget that second part (Tarax) so double check that, when you're done editing your sheet, you go back to CS Administration and submit it to the CM for approval. Otherwise it will just sit there doing no good. I want us to hit at least 2/3 by my next report - or I'll nag some more!

New FDG Discussions

I've opened up/consolidated some threads on our Fictional Discussion Group forum that require your input. If you want to have a hand in shaping the fictional background of Clan Taldryan, logon to the forums and (after asking me for the password) join in on the discussions. The decisions we make on this will very much affect Taldryan's fictional history, armed forces, competition plotlines, etc - so get involved. Our first topic is about the Rybanloth System and special planetary locations. Check it out.

Summit Evaluation Poll

Much like the Dark Council evaluations Sarin ran a long time ago using the DB's polling system. This time, each Taldryan Summit member from Consul to Rollmaster will be added to a poll on the Taldryan website. The poll will be followed by an official Summit Evaluation done by me, though only the Summit members themselves will be seeing those. The poll is completely anonymous, so don't be afraid to voice your opinion.

Clan Guides

The Summit and some select members are working on some new guides to help members grasp some of the difficult activities the Brotherhood has to offer. Much of the information provided will be a refresher, but when the Great Jedi War rolls around, you'll find they're an excellent way to... "bone up". You can find the completed works on the Guides Page on the Taldryan site.

Clan SA Course(s)

That's right. For some time now work has been going on behind-the-scenes to put together a Taldryan Shadow Academy course. Much thanks to Erinyes, who has spearheaded the project and sent the first draft of a "Taldryan Basics" exam. A Clan History exam is also in the works, but it's behing held up by the Clan History Overhaul.

Clan History Overhaul

Echo aside, I've been working on creating a new Taldryan history based on events that have actually happened in the Brotherhood. Fictionalizing things like vendettas and major Clan competitions and activities, which all makes for a much more interesting and thorough tale of this great Clan of ours. Work will continue as I get some details from our oldie members. They're a little slow in their old age, but we'll keep making progress. For now, you may see what we have so far on the Temp Wiki Page. Please not that this is a work in progress and, as such, all headings and data can and probably will be changed. This should just give you an idea of what to expect.

For those who love the existing Clan history, fret not. The original (I think) history of the Clan was more focused on the creation of Independent House Ektrosis, and it will remain on the House Ektrosis page, as well as the Taldryan website.

Wiki Overhaul

I'm going to be going through all the Taldryan-related wiki pages and marking some for deletion and others for improvement. In Taldryan we always strive for the best and, of late, the Wiki represents the face of the Clans. We'll be going through all the pages and upgrading/updating them. This won't apply to Character Pages, but we might do that some time in the future too. For now, we'll be concentrating on unit pages, military pages, etc. Once this project gets going we'll probably need some adept wiki helpers. I'll be asking for volunteers some time in the future.

GM Report

Whenever a report shows up from the Grand Master I suggest you all take the time to read it. They usually contain a lot of information on current DB projects and hint at upcoming goodies. Work is being done on the Discipline/Perk System, which should be up and running by the end of the year. Work is also being done on a Brotherhood Economy, though it won't be done for some time (lots of coding). Expect a new DB Plot Update to be released in the next few days.

MAA Report

Kaek has returned from leave and released an MAA report. He's currently working on a guideline for medal reccommendations, somewhat similar to that of the recently released promotion requirements. Expect to hear some more about that in the near future. Also slated for the future is a Super AWOL Check - these are important as the SCL and MAA will deactivate all dossiers and you'll have to login to the site to reactivate. Or... that's how it was that one time. When they're ready to run this there will be a lot of announcements and warnings from everyone. So you definitely don't have to worry about being surprised.

CM Report

First and foremost, the ACC Staff have released a new Character Sheet Guide, which explains in detail how all the new stuff works. It also delves into older aspects of the ACC with more information. If you're an ACCer or are looking to become one, definitely check out that page.

Halc and Dalthid have also released a new Force Power Annotations page. These will be used once the ACC site is modified to incorporate the new character sheets. If you do ACC a lot, you may want to start memorizing some of these now... there are a ton.

Wiki Be Awesome

The Wiki is used as a huge compendium of Brotherhood knowledge. Well, over the last few days RevengeX and a few others have been hard at work adding the new Force Powers to the wiki. You can find the main page Force Powers. Just click on one of the power headings and you'll be taken to a new page with all the descriptions and requirements.

I also took the liberty of adding the new Disciplines to the the Order pages. You can find them all linked from this Disciplines page

Operation: Resurgence

Just under two weeks to go and Resurgence will be over. ACC matches are being completed and gaming continues unabated. I haven't had many submissions to the fiction event, so right now it'd be fairly easy to score a Crescent. Make sure you follow the rules as posted on the competition website. The Clan Run-on event will be started tomorrow, so make sure to participate in that. It's the culmination of the entire competition and will directly affect Taldryan's history as I'll be writing the post-8th GJW section based off of this event and Swift Justice. Do the Clan proud.

Brotherhood Fantasy Draft

For those of you familiar with regular sports fantasy drafts, Proconsul Sklib is offering a different take on a classic. Right now he's looking for members to sign up to be managers. Once he has 8 (or a multiple thereof) he'll release a list of Brotherhood characters that you'll have the chance to construct your team with. Once the teams are all created, the judged will kick things off and pit players against each other. Most of this will take place on the Taldryan forum so everyone will know what's going on.

To clarify a bit, as I've seen some confusion - Your job as manager is to pick your team at the start of the competition. Most of the work after that is minimal and easy. The only time-consuming part will be selecting your team, then the rest basically falls onto the shoulders of the judges. This stands to be a really fun and unique competition that we might expand upon later. But it will depend on the showing of this round. If you're interested make sure to reply to Sklib's email and sign up.

New Year's Console Competition

Dante, the Gaming Tribune, has just started his console competition. The games used are Halo 3 (which is Xbox 360 only) and Call of Duty 4. I'm not sure if this is a xbox-only competition, or if you can only play DB members and no one else, or if you can play anyone and report it... it's not really clear. But, if you have either of those games you may as well try and get some matches done against other DBers - just to be safe.

Improv

Not a lot of participation in this one. Congrats to Halc on first place and Tarax on second. Medals will be in the mail. Due to the rising amount of House activities and a Great Jedi War on the way, I'll be putting my Improv competition on hiatus until such time as I feel it's necessary for it to return. Thanks to everyone who participated over the last month or so.

Holiday Caption Competition

Round three ends Janaury 5th, at 11:59pm. So get on the forum and post your hilarious captions. Easy competition equals easy rewards people. Go have fun.

Gaming Nights

The Gaming Nights are the staple of DB gaming activity. Matches can be played any time, Sunday to Friday as long as you're in #dbgaming. Clusters of Fire are rewarded at 1 per win and .33 per loss for all games except EaW, which triples the amount of CFs. Beyond that, participants can win the much coveted Pendant of Blood if they have the best win/loss ratio and play a total of 10+ matches, if there are a minimum of 10 players. These nights are the best times to get some extra practice in before major competitions (hint hint) so get on #dbgaming and start asking for matches.

Inter-Club Training Event

Like a gaming night, the ICTE welcomes any and all gamers to join #outerrim and play some matches. This event takes place every Saturday and has the added bonus of including a number of the Brotherhood's allied clubs. As a bonus, the top three players of each ICTE earn Crescents, assuming they play a total of 7 different people and earn 12 CFs.
