Combat Master Report

1 February 2009

Now that the site is back up and raring to go, that means the ACC is also moving along. Read below for information on what the downtime may mean to your outstanding battles as well as a little information on the GJW.

Current Open Battles

With the site having been down for as long as it was all battles not started or posted in yesterday are now over the usual "limit". As such, all battles are extended another week, although please e-mail myself and Dalthid if you require a little extra time.

Qualification Battles

Just a little reminder that we are still accepting qualification matches to be set-up between clan members. Also, with the GJW beignning on March 1st, you will need to be qualified before that date to be able to participate in the ACC-specific events. The ACC will be effectively "closed" during the GJW itself as everyone on staff will either be focusing on helping their Clans, or helping the overall GJW-grading. We will do what we can do ensure people get qualified, but if you're not qualified by the week before the GJW, then it probably won't happen at all until after the GJW is over. Below is the information needed to set-up matched between clan-mates

  • Pin numbers of both participants

  • Full names and the ranks of both participants

  • Weapons to be used by the participants

  • A venue to fight in (if no venue, we will decide at random)

Please send that information to myself ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) and Dalthid ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) and we can get it opened for you. It's also a good idea to cc you opponent.

Remember, we are using the Old Character Sheets for these battles, and the final judgements will still be done by staff. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to shoot me an e-mail

Custom Weapons

Dalthid and I now have access to the ACC site itself, and I've already added in the outstanding items that were waiting to get on the Custom Weapon list. You can find the list Here, and the information needed can be seen. An image is preferred along with it's name, weapon type(s) and a brief description of what the weapon does. If approved it will go up on that list and can be used in ACC battles, provided you have the necessary skill points in that weapon type.

GJW Info

If you haven't read it yet, go read the Qualification section above detailing the dates you should be looking at. As I've mentioned before the ACC will be used in the GJW. We will be using the brand new character sheets as well for the GJW...it will be the first time that they will be "officially" used in the ACC, so everyone will be on a level playing field. The annotations will be updated just prior to the start of the events, so you can get familiar with them HERE. The guide to the new CS is also on the wiki, but HERE is the direct link. Those are the two pieces of information you will need to really use the new CS.

Post-GJW Plans

Nothing set-in-stone as of yet, but after the GJW is over and people have rested a bit the ACC should be fully up and running. This will mean using the new CS exclusively with all Halls open for participation. This will also mean a ramp-up in terms of staff levels, so keep an eye out for any announcements asking for applications to the ACC staff.

CS Making Tip

Something I thought I would just throw in here. The introduction of the new CS was meant to create a sheet that could be used in all fictional aspects of the DB. It is no longer an ACC-centric item, although I still see the sheet's being created to make "fighters" instead of actual "characters". For example the attributes of Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma are no longer force-specific, but instead align with their actual names. Why should a jedi care about something like Charisma then? Well, how can you call yourself a great leader who can get a large group to follow you if you have no Charisma to speak of? How can you make great tactical plans without any Intelligence or Wisdom? Your character is defined by the character sheet itself...if you want to be "x" then you need to make the sheet that way. No matter what you say about your character, if you can't back it up then it means nothing. So don't just build a character sheet with the thought of being a "fighter" as you will have a very boring and one-dimensional character to use in fictions and run-ons.

Closing

We are now in the last stretch before the GJW. If you have a battle needing posts, please get out there and get them in ASAP. My e-mail is always "open", so feel free to shoot me a mail if you have any questions or concerns.

In darkness,

DJM Halcyon Rokir
