Catching Up

Well. It's been a while since I last released a report. Since I went ahead and explained about that, let's focus on other things. Taldryan was rocked by some DB drama recently. A few of our members who were also a part of the Imperial Directorate up and left for the roughly shit-colored pastures of other Clans. Unless you're totally clueless, you'll know that Sarin recently resigned from Grand Master. You can read all about it in his last report. For his replacement, he nominated Muz, the Deputy Grand Master. The vote is currently ongoing, but we already know he's got the job. For those interested, Taldryan voted marmalade, which was construed as a "yes".

DB Site H4x

As you're all well aware, the DB site was recently down again after another SQL injector attack (whatever the hell that is). It returned, of course, and the SCL-type people are working to fix all the holes in our site's security. I have faith that Orv and company will bend that code over a table and give it what for.

In a similar vein... it seems an annoying, albeit benign, email virus has been going around. Apparently it targets people with weak email passwords. If someone tells you you're sending out weird emails, you should probably take a look at this news post Kir made. This tells you how to counter the virus and explains a little bit about it. It doesn't seem to actually harm or gather data... it just replicates. It's what happen when guys spend their lives in front of a computer with no female contact :P

Resurgence

The Clan competition, Operation: Resurgence, ended with a bit of a whimper, rather than a bang. Had I known the Great Jedi War would be pushed back from late January to March I would have taken a bit more time to plan out the events and the plot. Unfortunately, things change quickly in the DB and we got a rushed GJW prep competition where we could have had something a bit better developed. Hopefully it was still a good warm-up for those of you that participated.

Speaking of which, I'd like to thank everyone who got involved. These competitions... hell, the DB as a whole only works if you guys participate in competition and activities, so well done to all of you who competed. As for the rest - hopefully we'll see more from you in the war.

Ninth Great Jedi War

The big Vong versus DB showdown is still set for March 1st, 2009. I strongly believe that's the date things will kick off, so here's hoping. Expect the usual fare for events, but perhaps with a few twists. Kir basically created all the competitions so it should be somewhat okay. Like I said, here's hoping. For those of you who haven't experienced a Great Jedi War before, let me see if I can summarize. A GJW is the single largest competition in the Brotherhood, lasts roughly two months, involves all the Clans competing against each other, and is always won by Taldryan. Let me stress this last point. Taldryan has won every Great Jedi War (that actually completed) since it's inception many years ago.

Some other things you can expect during a GJW is the collective shouting of "bias" concerning anything to do with Tal doing well. See, it's not that the other Clans suck, or that we're exceptionally talented, it's just that year in and year out the Dark Council (or whoever is running the GJW) favors Taldryan for inexplicable reasons. Most hint at sexual favors (cough*Kir*cough), but nothing is really clear. It's best to ignore such comments and the idiots that type them. Another of the more annoying things to expect is some "Uber Master Plan" to beat Taldryan. It usually involves one of the other Clan's Consuls having the brilliant idea of getting all the Clans to ally against Taldryan. I mean... because that's how our competitions work. The fact that the last two GJWs (afaik) have had this happen is just hilarious to me. Some retarded Consuls actually believe cheating in an online competition is the best way to go about the constant Taldryan domination. I guess whatever works for you, right?

Taldryan Times

Volume V: Issue I of the Tal Times will be on store shelves March 1st. Expect a return to some good old fashioned hilarity that covers every conceivable event of note in the past few months. The staff has really brought their A-game with them this time, and I hope you all enjoy this edition. Of late, there has been a massive amount of... what we'll call "incidents" that provide for some outstanding TT material. Personally, I have about three issues worth of ideas to work with, so it's kind of hard to pick and choose. Alas, we want to stretch out some of this stuff. BUT, because we have SO much material, we may just have a second issue out sooner than expected. For now, though, look out for the first ever GJW kick-off edition of the Taldryan Times.

Project: Foundations

A lame name, yes, but it's all I could think of at the moment. After the Great Jedi War, there will be some structurual changes to Taldryan that I believe will help set the foundation for the Clan's future. The most noticeable of these changes will be Summit-related. So expect some hoopla about that closer to the GJW's end.

GM Report

As previously mentioned, this is Sarin's last report as the reigning Grand Master. It's basically just a resignation post, but I suggest you all check it out. Sarin has been the GM for the past two years and much of the awesome stuff we have now is because of him.

MAA Report

On February 23rd, all Clan-to-Clan transfers will be put on hold until after the Great Jedi War. And, if you try to pull a Clan-to-Rogue-to-Clan transfer, you will be caught. Then Kaek will have to do Kaekey things to you. In other news, expect a Super-AWOL check (that's DB-wide) after the GJW. Kaek is also taking Praetor applications again. If you got what it takes (and most people don't) go apply.

HM Report

Headmaster needs a new course grader person. If you're interested, the position of EP (funny name) of the IRC Basics course is open for applications. Aabsdu has also selected a new Praetor, former-Tal member and all-around annoying guy, Taigikori. Congratulations to him.

SA Site Returns

That pretty much sums it up. The SA site is back in business after a long down-time. If you're so inclined, go take a bunch of tests. Personally, I suggest the incredibly fun CoJ exam. It's just good times :P

Right Hand of... Kir!

Justicar manchild has opened up applications for the Right Hand of Justice. Check out the requirements listed on this news post.
