Great Jedi War - Unification (A Seneschal's Perspective)

I'm psyched that the GJW has been launched. The storyline is awesome (yay Raken!) and the competitions are plentiful. Do <insert clan name here> proud and participate often and consistently.

Now for the SCL perspective:

I hope people are pleased with the layout of the GJW site. It was a fun one to do, for sure. There were some IE bugs when the site was launched at the start of the GJW. Luckily with a number of members' help, I was able to punch those bugs in the face and get things working nicely.

Week 0 passed without the DJB's destruction by SQL Injection (although we've had a crap ton of attempts by dubious script kiddies). So far my modifications to the data scrubbers are working out. There were a few over-zealous blocking of SA exam submissions that had to be fixed, but now we're doing just fine and dandy!

Lastly, there have been a few questions about some things on the site. Here are my responses:

Q: What is with the trucks on the Trailer page?

A: Those are trailers...get it? Yeah...this it the GJW and it is a freaking awesome event...but I need to have a little fun here and there :D

Q: ...ok. So what's with the cow?

A: That's not a cow, it is a nerf.

Q: And the chicks?

A: Yeah...the chicks are on the scoring page. Ok, a lame attempt at a "Scoring with chicks" joke. Such is life.

Q: What does "Oberst-ify" mean?

A: Oberst was giving me crap about readability and wanting a black on white site so he could read the text better. Black text on white backgrounds doesn't quite scream "Star Wars," but I saw his point and created a way to change the guts of a page to be black on white and back again.

OMG Yay.

I believe I fixed the frequent logout issue.

<div class="divider">### Ye Olde SCL To Do List </div>

This todo list has changed drastically due to the site issues.

<span class="ul">GJW Site</span> <span class="status">(Status: 100%)</span>

The site is done and in use. Yay. All events, chapters, maps and trivia get auto-released so I don't have to do anything but tweak the site when someone finds a typo or wants additional rule clarifications added in. Yay.

<span class="ul">PHP Recode</span> <span class="status">(Status: 0.1-5%)</span>

The start of the GJW pulled more of my focus than I had originally expected. This past week I've been coding up admin interfaces for trivia/puzzles, coding a trivia loader (for me) so I don't have to do a lot of manual data entry with new trivias, fixing some minor bugs, etc. As such, the recode hasn't had much movement in the past week save for database table re-architecting and creation in MySQL. We'll be rolling soon.

<span class="ul">SA PHP Recode</span> <span class="status">(Status: 95%)</span>

Arion Sunrider has done an excellent job working with Aabsdu and Taigikori getting the SA site moved over to PHP in its entirety. My involvement has been minimal other than providing general direction and the occasional data movement at the request of Arion. Expect to see this thing live in the next couple of weeks.

The snow is melting in New Hampshire (but it is far from gone). I ate some whoopie pie cake for dessert tonight. My laptop is having hardware issues that will hopefully be remedied tomorrow or Tuesday. I'm wearing a blue shirt. Oh, and like I said before, I'll be gone to a conference in Philadelphia from March 21st-26th. Email checking will be somewhat sporadic and I most likely won't find my way onto IRC.

<div class="divider">### Closing Remarks </div>

Thank you. That is all. Bork, bork, bork!

dude! I'm wearing a blue shirt too!
