_Acolyte Marcus Kiriyu walked slowly up the stairs. He’d never seen this part of the Skyhook before, then again, he wasn’t one to go exploring any further than the nearest library, so it was hardly surprising. The Quaestor had told him to report to the room ahead of him to meet his new battleteam, the Jade Serpents. Knocking quietly, he heard a female voice call out.

“Come on in.”

Opening the door, Marcus was greeted by the sight of six people, lolling around in various positions in a small, messy office. In front of him was a desk and leaning casually against its front edge was the only female in the room. Breaking off her conversation with the Zabrak next to her, she nodded at Marcus.

“Acolyte Kiriyu, I assume?”

“Yes.”

“Welcome to the battleteam. I’m Dyrra Skye, your Sergeant. These are your fellow Jade Serpents.”

Marcus surveyed the office, meeting the gaze of each of the beings in turn. His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Dyrra pulling a wicked looking knife out of its sheath on her hip. She grinned and waved it in his direction.

“Now then, if you’d like to take your shirt off, we can get on with your initiation...”_

This week’s been a bit quiet – are you still alive out there? There’s lots going on, so you should all try and get involved.

NEWS AND COMPETITIONS

Firstly, I’d like to say a big welcome to Acolyte Marcus Kiriyu, who joined our ranks a few days ago. I’m sure you’ll all make him feel like one of us in no time. Don’t forget, Marcus, any questions you have, drop me a line.

There hasn’t been much news this last week, except the appointment of Raven as the Battleteam leader of the Night Hawks in HMR.

Competitions at the moment, well there’s obviously Fractured Mirror, which is gearing up for the big finale – if you haven’t entered any of the competitions yet, it’s not too late! You’ve still got plenty of time to get those entries in.

Just to remind you: the Special Ops competition is still open! We’ve still got time to prove to Sapphire Squadron, Night Hawks and Night Raptors that we’re the pride of this clan and earn the title of Consul’s Own. If you’ve got any questions, or if you’re not sure how to do something, shoot me an email. Our lovely Consul has intimated that there’s no one battleteam miles ahead of the others, so we’re still in the running and I know we could win this if we try. Come on guys, make me proud!

There’s also some DJB-wide competitions going on as well – both the Headmaster and the Herald have got fiction competitions running at the moment. Get involved if you have a chance!

PROMOTIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

After last week’s smorgasbord of promotions and medals, we’ve had a much quieter week – Marcus passed his Starfighter Studies exam at the Shadow Academy with an impressive score of 95. Well done, Marcus! It’s much better than I could do – I’m hopeless with ships and that kind of thing.

So, real life is awesome right now cause I’ve finished uni for the year. Hurray! Now I’ve just got to worry about moving to another country in September... Eeek!
