Quaestor Report

The sun slowly fell behind the peaks of fire mountain range, leaving a crimson taint on the evening sky. On the vast balcony of the Quaestor's office, six chairs had been set around a circular metal table, laid out with light refreshment. Occupying the chairs were the Quaestor and Aedile, a delegate from one of the many refugee companies set up during the Yuuzhan Vong war, the Vice-CEO of a large building company, and the leader of the largest and most civilised of the Antenoran tribes, the Hoka Dachu.

"-and in the interests of fairness and diversity we simply can't allow that to happen" finished the refugee delegate.

"I have no stake in fairness. I will not take the idle and the stupid just to please ethical groups. Agree to my terms and we'll take at least a thousand of your refugees with a guarantee of work, and give your company a substantial bonus to fund relocation efforts in other sectors. How can I bring about an age of civilisation to this planet if I don't have civilised people to assist me." replied Kalak.

The delegate mopped his brow then looked at the Aedile, silently pleading him for help.

"Kalak, I hear that Silvia Industries are looking for a few more labourers. They could take the bulkier, less...astute group of refugees."

The Falleen raised an eyebrow in the delegate's direction, who nodded.

"Excellent."

The Vice-CEO coughed. "Having consulted our engineers and foremen, we believe that we can have the essential settlements provived within a year. If you'd let us use a more modern de-"

"-No." interrupted the Quaestor. "Our inspiration will be classical, I won't tolerate any of this stark, unattractive nonsense. Onderon manages. Empress Teta manages."

" If you say so sir. After this, we'll be starting work on the cultural buildings, the first being the Auditorium. These will take a further year."

"A slight change of plan, I want the sports centre constructed second, followed by concentration on transport. Then carry on with the cultural instillation. I want statues, temples, obelisks, libraries, the full works."

The Hoka Dachu crossed his hands "Boss, we ready to move in when you say so. Thanky for choosing us."

The meeting was interupted by a beeping from inside the office. The Quaestor excused himself and took the comm. A minute later he sent a single sentence to his droid: Prepare a suite of rooms for my daughter's arrival.

Disciples of the rising Dragon

It's been a little while since my last report, and we've had a busy few weeks. I hope you enjoyed the fiction, it should give you some idea of what's coming. A city. A great cultural revolution, the first Antenoran renaissance if you like. And I thought it might be fun to have a daughter. :P

In Closing

We're not doing badly. We're a strong house, and we have to remain focus. Where do we as a house want to go? I'd like us to be at our best, but not at the expense of our enjoyment. Email me whenever you want, with your desires or questions. I will do my best to place you on a path that will get you to where you want to be in the DB. This house is like a large bowl of pasta....all the bits need to be nice for the dish to be truly good.

I find it amusing how despite being Prime Minister, Gordon Brown's conference speech has 2000 less views on youtube than Lord Mandelson's.
