Aedile Report

THE COMPETITIVE EDGE: October 05, 2009

Howdy Cestus!

This is my second Aedile report. Lots of stuff is going on, even if you can't see it (though considering all these damn competitions you should!). This upcoming weekend the house fiction will be ENTIRELY revamped. Go read up on the Sacred Band of Thebes on Wikipedia for a spoiler. Competitions regarding this fiction restoration will start within the next couple of weeks so keep your eyes open.

COMPETITION NEWS

Anshar’s competition is still partially on hold, though the fiction is being posted. In the meantime Oberst is contemplating/preparing a series of competitions to tide Tarentum over, however… you all might notice that Cestus has more competitions than, I believe, any other two units at the moment! So there should be plenty to do including a very interesting and fun series of competitions with a Halloween theme.

Until the end of October, you may officially (by e-mail or through (IRC-pm) challenge the Gaming Tribune to a session of *ss-kicking. If you can beat the Gaming Tribune eight times (or more) out of ten in any platform he posesses (Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy and Republic Commando), you will receive an Pendant of Blood for your 1337 5|<1|_|_5.

(Clan)

Nothing at the moment, more to come very soon thanks to Obs!

Every month the most active journeyman within House Cestus will be awarded for his participation in Brotherhood activities.

Halloween - Apparition by Ji K’awiil

http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/CompetitionDetails.asp?page=1&order=Unit&sort=desc&ID=4522

Your task is to write a poem describing a strange apparition you have seen on the VSD Corsair. What does the "ghost" look like? Why is it here? And how did it come across us? The poem can be any length, but submissions will be graded on imagery, structure, and originality.

Nightmarish Nuances by Ji K’awiil

http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/CompetitionDetails.asp?page=1&order=Unit&sort=desc&ID=4523

Your task is to write a story describing a nightmare that your character has recently had. What was it like? Who was in it? The story must be at least half a page, and submissions will be graded on originality, mechanical structure, and theme.

(Blank) is to (Blank) by Ronovi Tavisaen

http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/CompetitionDetails.asp?page=1&order=Unit&sort=desc&ID=4479

For one month, your Quaestor will submit you to a weekly test regarding general Star Wars knowledge. In this case, however, think of this test as similar to those good old SATs; you will be working with analogies. One example would be as follows: "Han Solo is to the Millennium Falcon as Jango Fett is to __" Hopefully you would answer with "Jaster's Legacy" or "Slave I" - either answer would be acceptable.

Weekly points will be awarded based on the correct answer given as well as a first come, first serve basis. The person who answers the fastest with a correct analogy will receive 4 points; the second 3 points; and the third 2 points. Anyone who at least participates on time but does not get the correct answer (or is not one of the top three fastest submitters) will gain 1 point. Keep in mind: THERE WILL BE NO RETRIES.

At the end of the month, the one with the most points will earn a Legion of the Scholar.

Race for Fire by Ronovi Tavisaen

http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/CompetitionDetails.asp?page=1&order=Unit&sort=desc&ID=4404

While Cestus is a house of stories and necromancy, it is also a place for fighters and pilots. Over the course of one month, points will be tallied for the top three members who have received the most Clusters of Fire. These CoFs may be earned through gaming or through fighting Quick Skirmishes in the ACC.

Costume Party by Ronovi Tavisaen

http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/CompetitionDetails.asp?page=1&order=Unit&sort=desc&ID=4524

Your task is to describe a costume party held by Cestus, whether

through a story or graphics (even as simple as Paint). Who comes to the party, and in what costume? What antics are to be had at this celebration? The story can be of any length, and the image from any program (or drawn from scratch). Submissions will be graded on the usual quality and originality factors.

Vault of Knowledge by Vai Azexel

http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/CompetitionDetails.asp?page=1&order=Unit&sort=desc&ID=4226

The Aedile in his gracious spirit has decided that he will be adding a trivia question to his report to the house that will be posted on the 4th Sunday of each month.

This trivia question can come from anywhere in the Star Wars universe and will be designed to test your knowledge and research abilities. You will have 1 month to answer these questions.

First person to successfully answer the question will be awarded a Legion of the Scholar.

The Jack-o’-Lantern Jamboree by Vai Azexel (UPCOMING)

http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/CompetitionDetails.asp?page=1&order=Unit&sort=desc&ID=4521

It is that time of the year again boys and girls, the time were we all get dressed up in scary (goofy) and frightening (mail-order) outfits and go trick or treat that neighbors (party).

One of more fun aspects of this holiday is getting a pumpkin, cutting it open, ripping its guts out an chasing your wife with them (wait, that’s me, sigh), and then getting your hand on a big sharp knife and cutting holes into it. Now, I’ve seen some of the art work that has come from Cestus and I can only imagine what you could do with a Pumpkin.

At this LINK you’ll find a Pumpkin to carve using a different style of knife, you mouse. So show me what you got. Carve up the Pumpkin, capture a screenshot (JPG please), and then sent it to me. Who knows it may earn you a shiny crescent.

(PS: I hope the HTML works Vai… UNM’s email provider is really poor and my knowledge of HTML is very limited… I copied exactly what you had)

CLOSING COMPETITION NOTES

Hopefully you can all find a competition within this giant enormous group of awesomeness which you would enjoy participating in. I’m looking forward to seeing/hearing about lots of entries for the Halloween (my favorite holiday) month.

Happy Halloween -19... so excited!

Ji
