Apologies

I would like to begin this long-awaited SCL report apologizing for my lack of presence as of late. RL reared its head but things in my life are settling down. I've been pretty steadily back for a few weeks now and on IRC when I can be. I figured it was time for you all to see a report to know what's been going on in the SCL world.

A special thanks to Arion is due as he has been around to pick up some slack and has rocked the house in getting the PHP version of the Shadow Academy up and running with the SA Office. Thanks, dude!

House Revan

Independent House Revan has been around for a while. It was not fully functional within the Brotherhood due to various areas where it wasn't respected as a separate entity:

<li>The front page</li>

<li>Competition listing</li>

<li>Roster Listing</li>

<li>Join form auto-assignment</li>

I'm satisfied that these issues have been resolved as I've heard nothing to the contrary. As always, please let me know if there is another area that needs tweaking.

Taldryan Website

This is just an FYI, I have taken ownership of the taldryan.net domain name and have moved hosting to the same server the SCL Office is doing the recode of the DJB in PHP. For all of you Taldryans out there, let me know if something is wonky. Benevolent Whiner and I did our best to make the transition pretty painless (save for a period of downtime while the hosting transfer occurred).

Bug Fixes

As is always the case, since my last report the SCL Office has done a number of bug fixes, bug creation, and more bug fixes. :)

<div class="divider">### Ye Olde SCL To Do List </div>

This todo list has changed drastically due to the site issues.

<span class="ul">SA PHP Recode</span> <span class="status">(Status: 100%)</span>

Like I said, Arion Sunrider rocked the house. This has been live for a few months.

<span class="ul">PHP Recode</span> <span class="status">(Status: 8%)</span>

Since my last report, quite a bit of code has been done for migration of the current DJB data (stored in MSSQL) to MySQL on the dev server. The look and feel of the DJB site has been re-created using a custom DJB theme framework built on Smarty Templates (for those of you that care). The core of development so far is API creation. More to come.

<span class="ul">Forum Migration</span> <span class="status">(Status: 0%)</span>

Our forum software is very old. It needs to be migrated to a new solution that we can update on a regular basis. I still need to discuss this with the rest of the DC so we can determine the correct direction. Regardless...this needs to happen. With a migration, there will - of course - be changes that people love and hate. I'll try to minimize the hate. :)

<div class="divider">### Real Life </div>

Hopefully everyone here has heard of Star Wars Uncut (http://starwarsuncut.com) but for those of you that haven't, here's the gist: Star Wars A New Hope has been split into 473 15 second blocks. Those 473 scenes are available for people to reserve and film in any method they wish. Here's the trailer:

<div style="text-align:center;"><object width="400" height="300"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=6788001&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=10d1f2&amp;fullscreen=1" /><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=6788001&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=10d1f2&amp;fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="400" height="300"></embed></object> Star Wars: Uncut Trailer from Casey Pugh on Vimeo. </div>

Anyhow, a couple of Real Life friends and myself have re-created scene 336 with stop motion and Star Wars Might Mug figures. Production planning, preparation and execution took approximately 7 hours...though we're stop motion n00bs. Here's the scene we came up with:

<div style="text-align:center;">

<object width="400" height="300"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=7118641&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=&amp;fullscreen=1" /><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=7118641&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=&amp;fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="400" height="300"></embed></object> Star Wars Uncut - Scene 336 from Matthew Batchelder on Vimeo.

</div>

It was definitely a fun thing to do and I encourage anyone else to do one as well! There are still a large number of scenes that haven't been filmed yet!
