Proconsul Report

Welcome, one and all, to my inaugural Proconsul's report. Quite a bit to cover in this report, as there's been a great deal of activity as of late. For those interested, fictional updates will accompany many, if not most of my reports forthwith, but there's quite a bit on hand already today, so without further ado...

** Taldryan News

** Those who have read the Consul's most recent report - and if you haven't, shame on you! - should know that Vardar and Sidarace have joined the most august ranks of the Sons and Daughters of Taldryan; Sidarace has been further honored, as has Xander, by elevation to Obelisk Prelate and Krath Archpriest, respectively! Be sure to congratulate them when you see them on IRC. Also be sure to offer gratz to Rian Aslar, the newly-christened leader of Phoenix Battleteam in Ektrosis!

Alright, the Armed Forces Reset was intiated by the Grand Master immediately after the conclusion of the Rite of Supremacy; the precise details of how we will utilize the new point system to approximate our existing assets is still being worked on by the Summits. More details to follow.

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that the Taldryan Times needs YOUR articles, graphics, IRC quotes/scandalous logs, comics, and inappropriate images of Stick-hat Bootman! We've got some great stuff so far, but several folks are still working on their entries, and in consideration of that I'm extending the deadline. Whatever you have to contribute to our pwnsome publication, please have it in our inboxes by no later than March 13th!

There's a new Competition running until the 25th of March; I encourage all of our Journeymen especially to take this opportunity for some easy Crescents, and I'll definitely be releasing more Competitions like this routinely.

Our upcoming Run-On, Blood and Iron, is slated to start in early March. The setting is amidst the newly-excavated ruins of the planet Kalus in our wild and uncharted Rybanloth system, where we'll face a unique and monolithic mechanical horde bent on consuming all sentient life - with the Dark Jedi of Taldryan as their appetizer. We're going to be coordinating this run-on in a markedly-different fashion than we have in the past, so look for the specifics on that soon - you'll be notified via the mailing list.

Brotherhood News

As I'm sure many of you know by now, the Grand Master is seeking a new Shadow Hand as Paladin once again enters retirement. This position is quite sought-after and widely heralded as a guarantor to inheritance of the Iron Throne. I believe that there are several highly-qualified individuals amongst us who would lead the Brotherhood in an exemplary fashion. If you've got what it takes, chances are you already know it. I hope to see your name up there in lights.

The Herald is also in need of a new Praetor, and the esteemed and talented Raven has had to step down due to RL duties. I've seen an impressive array of graphical talent lately, especially in the Rite of Supremacy (I'm lookin at you, Ben :P) so here's the skinny on what you need to apply:

-24 hour email response time

-no rank requirements/time as a leader is preferred

-must have Adobe Photoshop (CS2 or higher preferred) and/or Corel Draw 12

-must provide examples of graphics created

-strong work ethic

Shikyo's accepting applications until 11:59 PM EST on March 5th, so if you're applying, go ahead and get a move on.

Our very own Combat Master is also running a Journeyman Quick Skirmish Ladder. This ACC event will be organized into several rounds of single-elimination Quick Skirmish matches, and CFs and Crescents will be awarded. This competition begins on March 7, roughly a week from today, so Journeymen, if you've yet to qualify for the ACC, now would be the time to do so - feel free to challenge me and I will be glad to help. There is also an ACC Fifth Championship League coming up this spring, so be on the lookout for it. I must admit, I was amongst one of the first naysayers regarding the forthcoming MMO. That mostly stems from my bitterness as a lore nerd over the fact that BioWare opted for their original setting as opposed to telling a tale in the era of, say, the Great Hyperspace War. But I've largely accepted the decision, and it certainly looks seems to be shaping up as a very promising game. BioWare is sparing no expense in capitalizing on the fans' nostalgic sentiment for the KOTOR games, and I gotta say it's become a compelling pitch. I've been watching development quite closely these last few months - I'm intrigued by the game's potential, and I've decided to hope for the best and reserve final judgment for the game's release. Here's the most recent trailer from the BioWare dev labs as they flesh out the details of the familiar planet Taris!

In Closing

So, in the event that you've haven't noticed, I've been developing a new character. This tends to necessitate a dossier name change, and a drastic one at that. The reasons for this are numerous; my old character's mounting debts from the extensive mental health treatment surrounding his various psychoses, my own considerable boredom writing the character...the list goes on. Given that I've been in the Brotherhood (this time, I was briefly a Journeyman pre-Split) for over three years now, I think it's quite reasonable that I'm not particularly enchanted with the character that I developed as a relative noob. That said, there's still no good reason for any of you to refrain from mocking me mercilessly, and some of you have already established a lexicon of charming nicknames and epithets. :P Be I Nihilus the Second or not, you can still find me on IRC as Vorion and such, I'd like to let all our newer members know that Vorion=Sahir and you'll always find me on IRC as Vorion/Vo/etc.

_ < GM_Muz > changing your name drastically is something that nubs do.

< GM_Muz > usually to try to shake off the stank of fail

< GM_Muz > it rarely works

< GM_Muz > so, really, i'd go back and change your first name back to Vorion, circumventing the whole issue and looking less like a toolbag. :P

< Vorion > lmao

< GM_Muz > wtf is allu supposed to be anyway?

< GM_Muz > it reminds me of what the numa numa kid sings__
