Third Sith War: Battleplan Details

My appologies for the delay in releashing the Battleplan Details, but here they are.

UPDATE: Battleplans are one per Clan, meaning that Clans need to work as teams to get their submissions counted. Sorry for the confusion.

(The Third Sith War website should be updated with the details later today, until then I'll leave them in this news post, but once the page is up this will be changed to a link)

Operation Briefing:

The operations within the Shadowplanes were successful, with the two Task Forces completing their primary objectives and disabling the greater part of the Antaran trade lanes through the Antei star system. Even so our mission is not yet over and we must plan to put an end to these Antarans once and for all by disabling the remainder of their navigation beacons.

His Eminence, Lord Cotelin has had for us a number of modified probes manufactured, built from the shells of Imperial probe droids and refitted with ionic arrays and jamming equipment. Unfortunately due to our current lack of resources we have been unable to fit them with sufficient power generators to provide them with their own form of propulsion, and so they must be manually applied to the Antaran navigation buoys.

Scouts have detected a total of four remaining Antaran beacons littered throughout the system, however unlike the previous operation these are simple sensor arrays rather than fully established facilities. We do not expect any permanent resistance stationed at any of the buoys but considering our earlier attacks within the Shadowplanes it is expected that the Antarans will be mustering a resistance force at the locus of the four hyper gates.

Detailed Intelligence:

The intelligence brought back by our scouts informs us of four remaining gateways into the Antei system, leaving the shroud vulnerable to unwelcome entrance from pirates such as the Antarans- or even the Imperials should they discover our location.

Unfortunately the scouts have informed us that the remaining buoys are no longer stationary and have begun to accelerate their orbit of the Dark Star by falling out of their geostationary orbits- in a sense they are now spiralling towards the centre of the system, and thus their vectors are no longer quantifiable.

The scouts have informed us of no definite defences surrounding any of the hyper buoys however recent hyperspace signatures have led us to believe that the Antarans are mustering a large force somewhere between the four buoys. Long range scanners cannot identify any targets, however this is assurance that we should not be dealing with anything much larger than dreadnoughts or bulk cruisers.

However our problem is not so much the type of ships we face, but the number and uncertainty. Until those trade gates are disabled by our modified probes the Antarans will be able to call in endless waves of reinforcements. We do not have the resources to waste against such a force and so this threat must be neutralised swiftly before the Antarans can call in enough ships to hold off our attacks on their entry beacons.

Judge’s advice on Submissions:

When developing your Battleplan there are a number of things that you should keep in mind in order to go for a winning submission-

Is your Battleplan feasible? How many starfighter squadrons you have placed on certain capital ships, what classes of ships you have assigned for carrier duty and which for assault, considerations for reinforcements both from the Brotherhood an Antaran sides of the battlefield.

Have you made full advantage of all the resources available? Are you leaving ships behind and wasting the full firepower of the available task force, are you guarding back corridors through which the Antarans might think to flank our forces, are you sectioning your force up logically to take on both the main Antaran fleet and disable the hyper buoys.

Are you working for a quick finish? The Antarans can call in endless waves of reinforcements so have you fully considered the timescale for your operation, are you getting rid of the trade gates fast enough or are you leaving them and letting the Antarans call in more reinforcements, are you taking the trade lanes our first but letting the Antarans flank your forces and have you at a disadvantage.

Are you working to minimise casualties? Every starfighter we lose is a million credits down the drain and the Brotherhood no longer has access to its own construction yards, are you attempting to limit the loss of ships on our side but at the same time deal with the Antarans quick enough.

Have you done your best to make the submission as interesting as possible? Have you just written out half a page or have you put some real time into it, have you included screenshots and proper tactical maps, have you gone to the effort to make up mock displays using mission editors or imaging software, have you produced understandable looking maps with tactical commands, arrows and plays written on them.

Ultimately realism is the primary marking criteria. Winning entries will be the ones that have put the most thought into their Battleplan and have produced a feasible approach to dealing with the last remnants of the Antaran pirates within the shroud of Antei. However as important as realism and the content may be the actual detail of the entry is equally important. An entry just written in word pad will get you your participation but won’t necessarily convey your ideas as well as graphical images can, after all, a good tactical diagram with arrows, or even a flash movie detailing the movement of the forces is the best way to get across your ideas.
